you set up an account.....checked your email...and should have 2 user names, one that yours, and one to give to someone else to use
did the other person downloaad app for phone/pc and put in the 2nd name you recieved in your email(they don't have to sign up for ana ccount, just dled the app)
and they and you have your password in?.....its the same for both of you
try to call me at husaberg1228230
the real problem with this app,is its a server based client, and they only give you a 10 day trail to use theres.....i have my own website,so i was going to see if i can use it,but i might not since its not a dedicated server....but ill check it out
the real deal is dell/google/att need to get their act together and quit trying to subsidize every aspect of mobile technologies....and give us(quit blocking) android guys video conferencing : )....haha
like video calling in skype and gmail could already be used to go to phones, and not just another pc....but they block its use(implemation)in the software of cell phones
I concur. I tried it today with a an iphone 4 buddy and worked well. He was on wifi and I was on 3g then I switched to wifi also and even better. Finally - I have an option!!!

Am i being very naive here? I assumed my streak would make video calls out of the box but i cant find the option for it. Is this something android is lacking? My touch hd did it straight from the dailer.

Get fring app or qik app then you can video call.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Yeah, I don't think the Streak can, the only time I've seen the front camera being used for video calls is with it was used with other apps like Fring I think (I could be wrong though....not really tried myself).
EDIT: Oops, someone beat me to it
Im reluctant to sign up to fring. is there a reason why streak cant make video calls natively? My last 4 phones could?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Dell didn't ads the support for this in the dialer. So you have to wait for someone to either port over one or create one... Other than that your options are bring and qik, which doesn't support the front can yet but I emailed them and got a reply about two weeks ago saying they're working on it

The Atrix is not supported yet by Tango. Wait until they officially support the phone.
If it's any help there is already a specific version of Qik for the Atrix. It's called Qik video connect for Motorola. It will use the ffc.
beat me by less than an hour on this post - I had been messing with it for about 10 minutes at lunch trying to get it up and running with no luck.... The strange part is that the app isn't force closing (FC), it is just going into the background. When it "soft closes," press and hold the home softkey button until the task manager pops up and you'll see it is still running, not to mention the lack of an official notification from Android that it had indeed FC'd.
The problem with qik is that you can't video call to iphobe users.

yeah but no FFC for fring yet right?
Yes, Tango app doesn't work yet on Atrix. Fring & Yahoo messenger works but only with rear camera. They need to tweak these apps to make it work with Atrix FFC.
Anybody heard any news on updates for any of these chat apps yet? Really want to use this FFC already...
You should uninstall Tango until they come out with an update for it to support our device. I found it preventing my phone from sleeping and draining the battery. That's what I got from my experience with it.
There was a tango update today anyone test it on the atrix??i have tango but no one to test it with

Tango is working now. Just had a 3g video call with ffc. However battery suffered big.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
The ffc camera works since the update but now, I have no outgoing sound. I'm sure they are working on it
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I still have the problem where you connect a call and there is no audio. Usually works when I call right back. Still a pain though.

I have been looking for the Android equivalent of Talkatone on the iPhone for a while. Talkatone allows you to make direct calls via gtalk (without callback to cell phone which uses up cell phone minutes).
The Android equivalent App is called GooVe IP:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gvoip
Well worth the money!
But is not available. For India

There is also NetTalk. It's free and you can find it on the market or here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054337
I wonder if one works better than the other...

I am wondering the same thing. Here is one important difference.
Net Talk - You will not receive a phone number-outgoing calls only
GrooVe IP - app supports making and receiving calls using Wi-Fi and/or 3G/4G data connections. It works via Google Voice.
I think I will take a chance on GrooVe IP.

nettalk app doesn't make use of the proximity sensor so it kind of sucks in the respect that it leaves the touch screen functional while running. I've been bitten by this a couple of times...
I might try out grooveip as I've seen several people say that it's decent.
I WAS going to try out skype, but now that M$ got their sticky fingers on them...

I'll have to try it, as other than not using the proximity sensor nettalk works fine for me on wifi, and with my usually crappy 3G here I don't believe that ANY app will work over 3G for me...
I'll post back with the results next time I use it unless someone beats me to it...
Ok here's my dilemma, in about a month I'm going over to parts of Europe/on a cruise. I plan to take my phone and wanted to see what options I had. I've been back and forth on devices but settled on the nexus s since it gave me the best overall experience however I am now stuck with the fact I don't have wifi calling. I planned on using that on the cruise to call out and at my hotels where wifi will be available. Do I have other options? Can I use my phone and do Google voice to call/text?
Side note if I don't figure this out I was either considering trying the sensation or maybe getting a xoom since I wanted a tablet but again can I use Google voice at least to call or text? Or just get a cheapy phone that does wifi calling like a blackberry and go with that?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
you can send texts via wifi. if you link google voice with your phone, you can log into g voice via browser on your phone and then send texts. I'm not sure about making calls though.
Can't you do SIP WiFi calling? Setup options under Settings --> call settings --> accounts Add Account
That's assuming you have a SIP line?
Skype is another option...
he can do that, but he will still be charged for it. idk if that's what op had in mind or not.
If you're getting free Wifi on the boat or hotel, you can use Google Voice to send SMS for no additional cost. You cannot make voice calls over GV without roaming charges on your T-Mobile bill.
To make voice calls, either set up a SIP account or sign up for Skype and use that over free Wifi.

There should be a hacked wifi calling app available..I'm pretty sure I saw it in the dev forum, so just dig it up. Of course u'll have to be rooted. I'm using wifi calling on my nexus one right now from Pakistan.

Thanks just dug up the thread and saw that development has been stalled. Hopefully it'll be available in the future.

Line2 is an option.
I'm just going to borrow my friends G2 or BB and use the wifi calling feature.
I fail to make regular video call by 3G cellular netwok ( not by internet like skype and else) , do I need apps or different rom, or video call not supported on dell streak .
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Use the "Tango" app lets you video chat with others over 3g
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA Premium App
I also use the fring app to make 3g video calls
3G video calling is possible but not practical due to the limited/irregular data transfer over a 3G connection for any network (lagging). I've some practical success with visual and verbal conversation over 3H connections (E=low,G=med & H=high MB/s) but ideally 4G will be more suitable for this type of communication method. To reply to your post - YES.
I don't want to use tango, fring and else, or other web apps. I just want regular video call without internet. With nokia or galaxy I use to place call to anyone that have just phone with camera and usim.
