Is there any way to reduce speakerphone volume below the lowest setting?
When i get an incoming call i turn the tab upaide down to use as a phone. The speakerphone is too loud even on its lowest setting.
this seems like something that could easily be incorporated onto a rom.

There is a thread for increasing the volume - you can follow those instructions, but use lower values.

Has anyone found a hack to increase the speaker volume when holding the JAM to your ear. My hearing is not good at all...remember when mom used to say "turn that music down, you'll go deaf" turns out the old girl was right.
The volume on the JAM seems even lower to me since doing the latest ROM update. There must be a registry setting to increase the volume. I've not seen anything that jumps out, but I'm willing to bet that there is a way.

low earpiece volume
hi paragon,
I fully support your criticism about the poor audio level at max setting. There must be sufficient potential in increasing the audio level since there is the loudspeaker function available.
Now 2 people are waiting desperately for a solution by a honourable specialist which allows for an icrease of the basic volume setting.

Well, the speakerphone on this thing isn't actually isn't any louder than the regular earpiece!
did anyone find a solution to this one?? I hope it's not the old change the rom to 1.12? I'm happy so far with 1.06 apart from the low front speaker volume.
Phil
i'm using 1.12 and i struggle to hear ppl as well. i ran by this app earlier today on i forgot which site that says its the ultimate hack tool. i'll browse through my histor and see if i find it and figure out if it can increase the volume.
Unfortunately it's generally considered that it's not possible to activate speakerphone programmatically, which will mean that automatically switching to speakerphone isn't going to help too much.
I tried setting up a profile to turn the volume down to a reasonable level, and then activate speakerphone and use that as the earpiece. That way the screen doesn't get sweaty and you've got better sound straight to the ear. However, some people on the other end of the line say the recieved sound isn't so great. I don't see why it should be any worse. Play around with AGC in the settings panel. Anyone else care to report on this idea?

i found the app, its tweaks2k2net unfortunately nothing with earpiece volume... and about the using the speakerphone instead, i've had ppl complain that they cant hear my clearly as well.. is the mic also bad on this phone?
I have a problem with the volume level on the device. On several occasions the volume drops to a very low level. This happens to all the sounds on the device like ringtone, music, reminders, etc. The level indicator on device is at top level, yet the sound is barely noticable. Seems like this occurs when battery is low. Only way to fix this is to restart the DHD. Anyone else have this problem? Have i missed a setting in the energy saving options at low battery level that can solve the problem? Is there a fix i missed? Already done the two OTA updates. This does not solve the problem.
Don't know if it's just when battery level is low but i experience that volumes over all are very low on this phone, both through headphones and rear speaker, have missed a bunch of calls because of this.
Hope there is something that can be fixed about it.
yes have had this problem, although I don't think I had low battery at the time.
a restart did fix the problem and afaik the problem hasn't come back since (and hopefully never will!)
What i dont get is why HTC left the volume so low when one of the main features in their video was that if the phone is tucked away it will ring louder and such but that wont help when the ringer max level is too low. Even my wildfire has more acceptable ringer volume...

absolutely agree. Even at full volume, the phone is not audible when stored in pocket, jacket or similar. pretty large fail from HTC if you ask me. The feauture would work if it would increase the max volume BEYOND the usual max volume we can set in the system, but alas, no cookie
PS in combination with "battery low"; check whether the energy saving features are enabled. You can configure a hell of a lot in these energy saving settings and it might be the case here also
Maybe the "quiet ring on pickup" option clashes with the "pocket mode" - if its in your pocket, but you're moving around, the "quiet ring" might override the pocket mode louder ring?
Haven't had a chance to test this though
Its not the quiet ring feature since it actually does ring, just not loud enough.

Omg .. After proximity sensor n Battery .. now this ??
NOTE! This lowers ALL volumes if you leave it on! Even alarms and notifications so remember to turn it off when you are done!
I would not recommend using this method at high volumes for extended periods of time. Obligatory "I'm not responsible for broken speakers, this is just my workaround method. I didn't develop the app, it was just recommended to me."
This may sound odd to some, but the speakers for the HTC ONE have always been too loud for me. They are certainly great speakers but I've never really needed them at max volume for anything. I use my ONE at night and in public a lot where the volume shouldn't be loud so I don't disrupt anyone. It took me a while to find any sort of answer of how to lower the volume since even on 1/15 it's still too loud compared to all my other phones and gaming devices. Note that I have the 30 step volume mod, InsertCoin Rom, and BulletProof Kernel, but I don't think it makes a difference for this.
Guide:
Leave Beats Audio On because it's awesome
Lower your volume to its lowest setting for the time being
Go to the Google Play Store and install the free app "Music Volume EQ'
Open it and tap 'EQ' at the bottom of the popup
Make sure it's set to 'ON' at the top left
Now change the sliders:
60Hz raised to +5
230HZ lowered to -5
910HZ lowered to -15
3kHZ lowered to -15
14 kHZ lowered to -15
Your volume should be significantly lower and I believe this is the safest setting to use with any volume level.
For even LOWER volume, set the Bass Boost to its lowest value(knob turned to the lower left) and turn it ON
Set the Virtualizer to its lowest value and set that to ON
This increases the bass even more though so it could damage your speakers over time if you use it on high volumes.
Now you can navigate away from the app by either hitting the power button at the top right of the app or by hitting BACK twice and try playing music or games to make sure it sounds right to you, if not then try adjusting those settings above. You can lower all the sliders to -15 if you'd like, but the sound quality starts to deteriorate in my opinion.
When you are done with your quiet session you can simply tap on the Music Volume EQ notification from the drop down menu and turn it off with the button at the top left!
With this I am able to play my games around others without disturbing anyone
If anyone has any corrections to this, safety warnings, or links(like if this type of guide exists and I'm just blind) please let me know. I have gained so much from this community and haven't contributed much other than "thanks" buttons.
THANK YOU! I've been looking for how to do this! The volume on this thing is just way too loud, even on the lowest sometimes!
Thank you very much for this. Now to find something similar for screen brightness. All the apps for brightness just add an overlay which makes the whole screen muddy looking.

You're looking for Lux Lite on the Play Store. It will lower your brightness to pitch black if you want, it's one of the most recommended brightness apps for any droid.
when I try to run this app I get this error..."htc one dm stopped working" ....Anybody else?
Was looking for a way to lower the volume for listening music on speaker mode. Came across this thread and it works perfectly. Many thanks!

^ Exactly what he said.
Many Thanks for sharing this! I have been watching movies on my HTC One at night and like you said, even the lowest 1/15 volume setting is way too loud. My earphones are broken so i can only use the loudspeakers on the phone itself. I just installed XVolume which is an Xposed mod but it is in Beta 5 and the mod doesn't work for HTC One. I wanted to leave feedback in its development thread but the latter is apparently abandoned since the thread is closed. Anyway, i will try your method right now.
Just a note to everyone (and maybe this info should be added to the main post for security) there are 2 softwares with the same name in the store but i think K&K is the right one since it has millions of downloads.
Update: Your method works! And i have found another software which claims to do the same thing but it's paid and only available as trial in the google play store: Fine Volume Control V2
Has anyone had a problem with the speakerphone volumes under kitkat?
I seem to have a mixed bag of proper volume and then sometimes (mostly really) very low volume, despite all volume settings being put to maximum.
I also use an app called Auto Speaker (which auto switches speaker on if proximity sensor detects you're not near) this does work as expected i.e phone switches to speaker and back to normal, but still has the same volume issues if I make a call with this app disabled.
Sometimed it happen to me. The max volume is too low, i use to low (yes low) the volume and high it again to restore the audio. It is a very bad bug. Hope Motorola will solve it sono.

Same here, some apps/games the sound is barely audible when set to max both in game and on the handset yet if I load another app play music or watch YouTube its too loud.
Also the volume increments curve too dramatically towards max volume, max is loud but a click or 2 down and it sounds like the volume has been reduced by half.
I didn't give it much thought until now but I might mention it on the Motorola forums so they cab pass it on to the Moto G developers.
I have the same problem . Always have to restart the phone to fix it but the problem automatically returns after .
Ezarc : they responded to you ?
Sorry for my bad english
I did the upgrade to cm-12.1-20150806-NIGHTLY-d802 yesterday but now the in-call volume is too high, even when on the 'quietest' setting. It was OK before the upgrade.
I have looked through every setting on the phone all to no avail.
I read on another forum that someone managed to alter it with DSPManager, which I installed but can't seem to get it to make a difference.
Any help appreciated!
Some people cry that the volume is too low on CM12.1. xD
Try Viper4Android,it has the Volume Output Limit function.
