Hello Everyone,
BasebandVersion: GAUSB1A111100-EU
ClockworkmodRecovery: 1.8.4
Froyo: Streak_315_12332_00.pkg
I want to install the official 2.2 Update for my Device, but i does not work, because i have the ClockworkmodRecovery, and this does not make use of the "Streak_315_12332_00.pkg"-File. Can someone please point me to the direction/howto how i get the update working.
Cheers in advance, Philip
I dont think you need to use clockwork recovery for getting official 2.2....
u cud probably try to update using the instructions here...which uses the 309.pkg thing....
http://www.streaksmart.com/2010/11/how-to-get-official-android-22-update-on-dell-streak.html
clockworkmod
cheers for your answer, but i want to first install the official 2.2 ... and i can't figure out a way howto do this with the ClockworkmodRecovery installed, because the ClockworkModRecovery tries to access an .zip and not an .pkg file
You need a stock dell recovery there are several threads on how to do this
ya you have to install the stock recovery which would be somewhere in this forum...
but in the event you use the method in the above link I posted you dont need to go to the clockwork recovery....u just flash the files on your computer and reboot normally...and u get 2.2...
then since u have clockwork recovery installed you could apply the performance fixes for 2.2...or else go to steve's 1.4.6...
hope this helps

flash this file using fastboot. its the 309 recovery thats been modded to allow the 12332 rom (which requires 315 recovery). then once your done, you can flash clockwork back on the same way.
the the streaksmart guide with the separated boot, amss, and system is the 11548 rom.
Solved
Hello everybody,
thanks for all the answers.
I solved it the following way:
- downloaded the original recovery.img for build 6267 for GAUSB1A111100-EU (attached below)
- flashed it with "fastboot flash recovery recovery6267.img"
- booted to recovery, reset to factory default
- booted, and then just followed the official update process
I guess a lot of you guys are now like "argh... torturing of a innocent device" ;-) but i didn't lose much, and it worked.
my specs before update:
dell streak unlocked bought at "media markt"
Basebandversion: GAUSB1A111100-EU
OEMversion: GAUSB1A111100
BuildNumber: 6267
my specs after update:
still dell streak unlocked bought at "media markt"
Basebandversion: GAUSB1A131500-EU
OEMversion: GAUSB1A131500
BuildNumber: 12332
Any "newbies" like me, having the same specs, feel free to pm me
alright so i also have a streak with baseband GAUSB1A111100-EU build 6267.
and i'm trying to flash it the same way, but the stock recovery build 6267 won't flash.
when i flash it with fastboot it says on my streak: flash write fail and in cmd( after i pull the usb out) it say: writing 'recovery'... FAILED <status read failed <too many links>>
i have tried various recoveries which i found on this forum, and with other recovery's it works instantly. But i can't get past the black screen in recovery mode, or the dell logo if i'm trying to update it the normal way.
so can anybody help me out? or point me at the right direction
Solved: all i had to do was flash boot.img and then it worked perfectly with the 309 recovery.
Hi folks. I have tried the Odin process three times to try to get CWM functioning on my I/O tab with no luck.
The actual Odin process seems to work fine; however, when I reboot the tab to enter recovery mode; I never get the recovery option. I only have the USB symbol and the downloading option. Also, in the upper left corner, I have:
Fastboot USB download protocol
bootloader version unknown
baseband version %s
serial number:
lock state unlocked
What am i missing? Can the I/O tab use CWM?
Thanks!!
I had the same thing, but when I am trying to root the device it just lock on boot screen. I am not a dummy but something is wrong where several users have diffrent symptoms. I would wait until further development is done. This is still a little shaky.
Odin CWM doesn't work for some reasons ..
Use this post to get rooted
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15735928&postcount=2
Follow the instructions carefully !!
Download CWM and do an Install on CWM (it will install 4.0.0.4)
copy the required files to the root directory /sdcard/ (main directory if you don't know)
-Get the roms from HERE
-Get the su_busybox_misc-sam_tab_10.1-051511 HERE
Flash in the ROM 1st .. the apply the SU update (in RECOVERYMOD BEFORE you reboot)
Data / wipe
THEN REBOOT
I missed that 2nd update zip .. and trust me its a pain to get it rooted after that ..
The same procedure will not work again once you're on TW3.1 rom .. you will need an image of the system files and NVflash now..
BTW if you can do NVflash .. then I can send you the image files for 3.1TW rooted ..

Ha .. I have 3 IO to play with (from friends)..
1st one is rooted out of the box ..
2nd one cannot communicate on FASTBOOT
3rd one does everything nicely (thats the one I had the image extracted with NVFlash)
I'll say it nicely before someone comes to say it rudely, this probably belongs in a general section rather than the development section (that is, until you develop a method to get around the restriction you've found )
Workaround method

Plus I have the images to go with in case you brick yours

If you have fastboot working, then rooting is as simply as 'fastboot boot [cwm recovery filename].img'
I spent a long time getting fastboot to work, but the only fix was to finally download PDANET software to my PC and install it while it was connected to my tab. After that I got fastboot working.
Fastboot made the rooting process 100% easier. You can root any stock ROM with it and not have to reflash to 3.0.1.

I had the same problem with my I/O. I finally got a recovery option. What I did was flash the Euro version of TW located in the development section (which is buggy as ****).. After that I Installed CWM and flashed pershoot's root tools. Then I flashed the latest TW Rom. Everything is running smoothly, despite the samsung apps fc. Be weary of the disclaimers located on all the sections I have suggested. All of these steps are at your own risk...
Odin worked on my I/O tab after i put TW on it. I had to boot the tab into CWM via fastboot from a mac
if you are stuck in boot loop or having difficulty starting your phone, don't worry, there should be a way.
I have experienced this issue today after flashing wrong file causing my phone to stuck in boot loop. after searching in this forum and after spending over 3 hours, I finally managed to restore my phone and it is now working perfectly fine.
therefore, I thought of making a basic guide to try to resolve such issues. please note, this is a very basic guide to resolve problems with starting your phone, I am not professional but will try to share my experience and help anyone in need. this was done on X10i
lets start:
1- if you have a recent back up and have access to xrec, you can simply restore your phone
2- if you have access to xrec but don't have a backup, try to flash a new ROM
I tried the previous two steps but it kept saying can't mount SD, therfore try the following
3- if you don't have xrec access, use the flash tool
download from here http://www.multiupload.com/7H4JT35B6G
then flash generic 2.1 to your x10, I used this one http://www.mediafire.com/?sqv6274anzfzn2x
here is the guide on how to do it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10879528&postcount=3
I have had problem saying "install or re-install drivers", you just need to install the file in the drivers folder in the flash tool main folder and restart the flash tool program
4- after flashing this ROM, restart your phone and root it using the flash tool, after the root your phone will restart, then you need to ask for premession and click xrec to install xrec to your phone
5- before installing new ROM, please make sure that your baseband and karnel is compatible with it (because the ROM you flashed earlier has old karnel and you will be stuck again in the boot loop if you flashed 2.3.3 just like me, then you will need to start again and install new karnel before instaling 2.3.3 ROM or even restore 2.3.3 ROM)
(you can simply install the new ROM then restart in flash mode and flash the new karnel .71 or flash the karnel and restore your backup)
I know that my choices of flash tool version or generic 2.1 version might not be the best, but I used them and resolved my issue and hope it will resolve yours. for any question please do not hesitate to ask me.
credits to everyone who helped, I can't remember everyone because I read quite a lot so please forgive me
nice post my friend
In flash tool I'm getting an error:
ERROR - USB\VID_0FCE&PID_ADDE\5&2BFAB030&0&5
any idea what to do?
it sounds to me that u may need to install the semc flash drivers.. inside the flashtool u may find a folder named drivers, go inside of that folder and install ggsetup.. also do u have pc companion installed?

can you post the log from the flash tool so I can see at which step exactly this massage came up
I am fairly novice when it comes to flashing so here's a pretty dumb question:
I have an X10a, can I use the X10i software that you've linked in your post or is it just going to brick my phone.
I can't post in the development forums so I figured I would ask here:
I understand how to use adb and fastboot, etc.. What I am missing is with the new ICS ROM it states that I must "fastboot flash system system.img"; however none of the ICS zip file I have seen come with a system.img file (just the boot.img).
Am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated..
I used the version available on Rootzwiki... not sure if thats the answer you wanted. I'm running 4.0.3 ICS on my wifi XOOM OC to 1.54. No FC's, reboots or anything of the sort. You'll need to be sure that you have su-install.zip, and other img files needed. As I said, you'll find them all on the rootzwiki website under xoom hope this helps, if not good luck.
You are talking about two different things here. I don't know where to start here you're all mixed up. There are several ways to flash a ROM, you can fastboot flash the .img files such as what you are referencing to. Or you can flash an update .zip file from recovery. The way you flash the ROM depends on the source, if its a bunch of *.img files you use fastboot, if it's a *.zip file you use recovery. Just follow the directions given for installation that are provided with the ROM you are downloading.

Hello, and welcome to XDA! =] Anyways on with your question. There are two ways to flash a ROM to your xoom. One being fastboot/adb, where you use the command line on your computer to send commands to your device and make it do stuff. This is where you use system.img, boot.img, recovery.img.
The second, is CWM (ClockWorkMod recovery) This, as far as im aware, is the most common way. This is where the .zip's come in. Because you take the .zip you put it on your external SD card. boot into recovery (after flashing CWM of course) and flash the rom. CWM is nice because you can also make a 100% snapshot of your internal memory state via making a nanodroid back up. That way if anything messes up you have a 100% backup you can restore at anytime if you need it.
In a nutshell, You use *.img files with fastboot and .zip files with CWM.
Anyways. If you're new to rooting. Please check out these two threads, They'll help you get started. =]
Xoom Heaven: Root+Non Root Users Are Welcome!
[Guide] Setting up and using adb/fastboot-unlock, flash custom recovery & root
The second guide I did use to flash my own zoom so I can assure you it does work.

Hello dude,
it's quite similar to...
"Can i eat spaghetti and pomodoro" at dinner?
Of course you can, just make sure after install TWRP
you do a full backup of stock ROM before preceed rooting.
Happy flash.
P.S.: the question is legitimate, but it would make sense if nougat had come out lately...

Thanks, can you describe a software for a total backup? After backup, I need to unlock the bootloader and then I can flash the TWRP with fastboot?? Can you make a guide for all? Thanks for all
Hi, I just came home from work ..
What model of device do you have? Is it a VENUS (VNS) or a PRAGUE (PRA) one?
Write here complete firmware you have..
Later I reconnect, now I have to go ..
For apps, search the internet for the ones you need to backup, you can also use your huawei backup apps...
the rest as files or music, photos, videos, copy them on your computer ..
There are apps on the store to backup phone calls, text messages, etc., just search ..
When you feel relaxed about copying all your important things on your computer,
go to step 2, ie unlocking the bootloader, custom recovery flash, and so on ...
What is very important is to read more than one time GUIDES you need to follow...
Always one thing at a time

Hey Tommy,
you have the same phone as mine... L31 single sim..
Well, do you already have your bootloader unlock number ? If yes you can proceed, if not.... well... we will talk anymore...
About "how to", yes you can use commands with fastboot or use k1ll3r8e's toolkit that makes all things you need, including:
another huawei backup via hisuite, unlock BT, download and flash custom recovery (TWRP), root ie HOW TO..
So download all files and copy SU to your SD card:
@k1ll3r8e toolkit and install on PC;
@OldDroid TWRP and put wherever you want (on your PC);
Official SuperSU 2.82;
A very IMPORTANT thing is before connect phone to PC enable/disable things as showed in THIS screenshot !!!
Then open toolkit, go in bootloader TAB and install hisuite drivers on PC.
When you ready dude, quote here, will replay ASAP ..
Peace

@Tommy28_ITA
Hi, you can do what you want with your phone, you can choose what you planned to do my friend or do nothing....
In your previous post you wrote about lock screen you can't disable... investigate about this, could be very important. What you do with your phone is at your onw responsibility, you know.. just adviced....
In post number #3 you wrote:
"I need to unlock the bootloader and then I can flash the TWRP with fastboot??",
and in post #6 i wrote: "About "how to", yes you can use commands with fastboot or use k1ll3r8e's toolkit that makes all things you need, including:

So choose your method, fastboot or toolkit, or a guide HERE in @dariomrk's thread that use Magisk...
For fastboot search and download here on XDA, for toolkit i already posted you the link to the main thread, Search in each thread you will find the HOW TO section.
Just follow guides, use search, ask users/dev for helps...
If something goes wrong don't point your finger at me...
Where i'm wrong other members feels free to correct me whenever they want... thank you guys.
Good luck !!
P.S.: Some basic knowledge needed to root your phone, so if you think you don't have, just give up, sorry but necessary i write this.
