[Q] Tab dock HDMI no sound please help - Galaxy Tab General

Hi to all
I had recieved the dock and a good HDMI cable.
I tested in a Toshiba 37WL66Z, perfect video, but no sound, ( In the same tv I have connected my laptop and I have sound ), then I thought that it was the dock or the cable, so I tried this in a second tv I have Toshiba 32AV500P, two years newer that the first, sound ok in both HDMI inputs.( so cable and dock are OK ).
What is going on?, I had searched the net alot, but I have not found a solution, I have read that there are people having the same problem with me, concerning the dock.
Can I do something? is there are different protocolls, that the devices communicate each other in HDMI connections?
Can I made an upgrade or something else?
Thanks in advance

I think the compatibility is not a 100%. I had some troubles when I hooked my Tab. It's unbelievable that there is little to no information about the dock to find while searching on Google! (Troubleshooting)

Yes you are right no info, I had searched everywhere, the tab is a new model, perhaps in the future?, very stange though.
Perhaps the compability problem will be solved with a firmare upgrade?
I cannot found a link to ask Samsung Korea directly to check this matter, because a lot af us have the same issue.
If anyone knows a link to them?

I connected my dock, the tab makes a connected sound, but the tv doesn't recognize the dock, so no sound or video.

Ah. that's exactly the problem I had. This is the routine that usually resolves it.
1. Reboot Tab for a fresh start
2. Hook up the dock to power. (Apparently this is required)
3. Dock the tab.
4. Make sure it shows as "charging".
5. Plugin the HDMI cable. (make sure you don't move the dock too much! the connection is crappy and very easily loosened)

Thank you friend. I suspected I would need the power cable. I got one off ebay yesterday.
You have to add #6 to the steps: hold tongue out to the left side at a 30 degree angle. ;^)

TV OUT not working!

Hello,
anybody else got a problem with TV OUT ?
I cannot make it work. And when entering the Service/Test Mode, it won't work there either! Its setting is OFF.
In comManager its all greyed out, no matter if connected with a cable to a tv or not.
There is a reg setting about it and when I enable it there, it shows enabled, but it actually is NOT.
So I am wondering if this is perhaps MY hardware or if there is any 'secret' to it, to make it work.
Thanks!
Everybody's elses TV OUT working fine???
Hey what is this, no replies at all. Should I believe EVERYBODIES TV OUT is working fine?
Or nobody using that at all? I want to know if with all you out there, the TVout in connection manager is greyed out or not (with or without a plug).
Even in service/test mode my setting is OFF and cannot be changed.
Need to know if this is just mine and the hardware is perhaps broken. Thanks!
Mine works.
(I used it very rarely but it's good to know it there)
MS Direct Push not working either?!?!
Good to know at least somebody's works! If you go to connection manager, the TV screen is greyed out on mine, on yours its yellow?
And what about the square where you put the ckeckmark, its greyed on mine, on yours not?
Now, what is your software version?
Thanks

When the cable is not connected, the TV out checkbox in Connection Manager is greyed out. The moment I connect the cable to both phone and TV, a menu pops up and shows a picture and two aspect ratio options to choose from.
Are you sure it's not the cable or the input on the TV faulty? I mean it is clear for me the TV out option is available only after a connection between phone and a valid input of a working TV has been established. Dunno, try other tv sets?
My phone software is plain 6.5.3 generic UK. only mods are sd card fix and overclocking, so very little to do with the matter we are discussing.
Yeah, I tried different TVs. But since it won't even work in TestMenu, I figure it my hardware now.
You see, in testmenu, one does not even need to connect a TV because it will be displayed on the lcd. And no cable needed either.
What is your manufacture date? Its inside battery compartment on white sticker, like 09Wxx or 10Wxx.
Mine says 09W48

I'm too facing the same problem..
It identifies the cable as a headset.
Anything to do...?

How do i get hdmi to work?

I tried connecting the tab to my 720p TV and all I get is the android mascot saying 720p? The sound however plays if I play some video. Does anyone else have this problem?
gIVE MORE INFO IT SHOULD JUST WORK
first ..
is your tablet Stock . some custom roms have issues with hdmi..
have you tested the cable with another device.. the micro hdmi cable seems to have a very high defective rate.
With the above known issues ..
if you are stock and you have your tv on the correct input device setting.
try connecting the cable set the tv correctly.. as in hdmi 3 in the tvs menue and the cable connected to port 3..
turn off both ..
turn on tv set it hdmi 3.
turn off your tablet. plug in the cable to iconia.. turn on tablet.. see if this works..
others have said this helps.. my hdmi port would not work correctly when i got my tablet had to hold the hdmi cable just right. this was only temporary for some reason.. g
GOOD LUCK..
Is the picture your seeing with the android figure on your Iconia or your tv?? Or both??? You should see a mirror image of your iconia on the tv. If your getting the message on the tv and the iconia is displaying its normal desktop image than your tv may not support 720p input or your iconia couldn't negotiate the resolution with your tv. Try a different hdmi port or a different tv and see what happens.
its stock with the latest os. The message only shows up on the TV. TV definitely supports 720p as that's what I am outputting my TV stb and my streaming box to. Hopefully this is just a case of a defective microusb cable. I could try it another TV, but it wouldn't tell me if the ddevice is defective or the cable. I guess I will have to buy another microusb cable aand hope it works.
If your seeing an image on your tv than I don't think its the cable. The Iconia just may not be able to talk to your tv properly. I would try it on another tv if able just to confirm. Also, turn your tv off, fully power down your tablet, plug together, first turn on tv, after tv is up and running then turn on your iconia. It seems to me that something is going on with the hdmi handshake and this should get your devices to talk to each other in the correct order.

My Iconia works fine, but I had this same issue on an older Toshiba laptop, and these procedures worked every time.
So I tried the above instructions turning both devices on, connecting, turning tv on first and then the iconia but still the same result. The green android mascot with the 720p? speech bubble. I guess I will have to try another tv somewhere.
Same issue for me, I bought this cable today for 19,99 €.
I read in an another thread (not in xda), that the problem is solved with a high quality cable (hdmi 1.3 or more, 39,99 €).
Or directly in the acer store : here.

Are you on a stock rom near stock.. Some of the Well cooked roms could have a issue with this function.. If you are on a custom rom.. Go to the rom developers thread and ask this Question . If you are on stock 3.2.1 the most current . I would try if you can to test your cable. If the cable is not bad Call ACER (GOOD LUCK WITH THAT). I know mine I put the cable in back of tv on HDMI 4 . SET THE TV Input to hdmi 4 and plug it in..
anyway good luck also people have said they needed to wiggly around there cable use caution doing so..
im using a 6€ cable from some cheap market and everything works fine with thors kernel 3.9r4..
i had many troubles with hdmi and other kernels.. tv and tablet have to be on and then plug in the cable.. thats the only way to get it working for me

Great little Media PC(ish) device

This is a little bit of a double post from the Accessories section, but I'm pretty chuffed about it so I'm posting here too - hope no one minds.
I was looking to connect a bluetooth keyboard and mouse and found the required answers int he Accessories section. I bought a USB connector and plugged in the bluetooth dongle form my Microsoft media keybaord and both the keyboard and pointer worked fine.
But then it started me thinking that it was a bit annoying that I had to use the single connector available as this meant I couldn't plug in the HDMI one and use the Tab as a Media PC. My cheapo sub £100 no-name tablet has seperate USB and HDMI connectors, why can't Samsung see the benefit of this? The only option was to control the HIDs directly without using the dongle.
Well it is possible. There is a free app on the Market which allows you to do just that - Bluetooth Keyboard Easyconnect. Your tab needs to be rooted and the instructions are not necessarily clear. If you do try it, to connect you need to go back to the standard bluetooth interface, make you HID discoverable (push the button?) and then scan for bluetooth devices. Once it is found and you pair you then need to go back to the app and select the HID in there as well.
So now I have a nice, extremely small media pc (but not) under the TV. Films, music, internet, work all there and controlled from my sofa.
Just thought I would share that.

I think most people just skip the dongle and use the native Bluetooth on the device

Worlds most expensive TV stick.. how to?

Hi
I've just had an accident with my Galaxy S4 LTE, which broke it in a major way which completely broke the screen and digitizer as the phone got stuck in a car door slammed shut... really nasty :cyclops:
somehow by some miracle it still works, buttons, speakers, charging and all, just not the screen and I am thinking I will just use it as the most expensive android TV stick there is, with bluetooth keyboard and usb video out but I have one pickle.
right now I have MIUI rom, without USB debugging and broken video out, and I am thinking I need original samsung rom to get the video-out capabilites, but as I do not have a screen on my S4 so I think I would have to make a custom rom with remote desktop and/or usb debugging enabled so I can use my computer to set it up but I don't know how I can do any of that and I'm looking here for pointers and help.
Any suggestions?

MXQ PRO 4K TV BOX - No remote and No Display

Hi I need some help please , I recieved the tv box from a friend with no remote. I plug in adaptor as well as usb to pc to power it up. There is blue light on tv box but no display on hdmi or av input. Any suggestions on how to switch it on or what to do.
It may be possible to control it using a usb keyboard and mouse if you could see the picture and it has the correct drivers. The picture thing sounds like the biggest problem, I would suggest trying different HDMI cables and tv settings. This is highly unlikely, but if by any chance your friend turned on usb debugging before the picture stopped working, there is a tool called scrcpy that can be used with adb that allows you to view your screen on your computer. It’s quite possible that the thing has broken itself, there’s a lot of reviews online about Android TV boxes spontaneously breaking after only a few months of use, sometimes less than that.
