Would rather hear about a froyo source release for our phone than a official froyo release to be honest. Our devs do way better work with source than what samsung would release as official froyo. Look at the amazing work that noobl has done without source for froyo and we have an awesome dev that even has released work of an miui port (which I am most excited for coming from an htc incredible with a fully working port).

Samsung John, thank you so much for making a connection with the people at XDA and being less transparent with the end user. However even if you are coming out with an announcement, could we have at least an eta. After a while of hearing nothing but coming soon, something along the lines of coming in a month, 6 weeks, 2 weeks, whatever would be much appreciated with any announcement. I am not even talking about froyo, I am talking about anything in general. But again thank you for coming and creating this channel with XDA.

Wouldnt really matter for me even if it was, Ill take froyo from devs here over samsung/verizon anytime. (And considering we have froyo, it wouldnt be a huge announcement for us)
I think Samsug's reputation is already damaged, so releasing Froyo is not gonna change anything (unless they also release the source, but even then). If its gingerbread, ill kiss my dog.

his Incredible builds were pretty good....so this is great news for our Fascinates...
now if we can get the LG launcher i'm running on my Evil Fascinate on an AOSP build, that would be awesome....but Go Launcher EX is pretty snappy too...lol...

Really, people forming teams helps to push development to the next level and keep others on their toes. Its nice to have people to bounce ideas off of and have a few people test the work out who won't go say "oh your ROM sucks, I had nothing but problems" when a minor issue needs to be ironed out. Also, not everyone has hours and hours of free time to develop. Its nice to have trusted people to pass a project off to for completion of another step. Some people work best alone and others as part of a team. It doesn't make one better than the other.
