I'd say ebay

newegg, they generally have specials every week, or if you have a FRY's Electronics around yea

Since you want 16GB cards I recommend you get Patriot 16GB Class 10 they are selling $39 on newegg as Class 4 is $29, just for $10 you get speed.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the help.

You might also want to check out Meritline.com. They sell microsd cards very cheap and about once a week have specials on them, if you get their newsletter.
I like the Aplus cards they sell. Have had very good experience, better than a lot of the more 'household name' brand ones you usually see at retail. Another great place, if you like the Toshiba cards, is OfficeMax. Check their flyer in the Sunday paper. Last week, every size was on sale very cheap.

I tried many 16gb cards out (thanks to Amazon's generous return policy ) and ended up keeping the Transcend Class 6 one. It was actually faster than the Class 10 I tried out, in all except the 4kb writing speed.
Newegg and Amazon are both great places to get cards, but don't go the eBay route..or even from a 3rd party seller on Amazon. Way too many knockoffs and duds out there to make the minimal price difference worth the risk.
The Transcend Class 6:

How much would that transcend 16gb class 6 card run me?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App

$55 on Amazon (search for TS16GUSDHC6E ) including shipping.

the price went down
it's listed at $29.99 now, I am buying this tonight, and it's probably going to be the last thing I'm buying for myself before x-mas

How big a factor is speed on an SD card for a phone?
Aside from dumping large amounts of data to it at once, how much does speed influence the performance in everyday use?
Bear in mind I've never watched a movie or something off my SD card. I'm talking about just pulling up photos, file trees, running apps, etc. Would I notice the difference between a class 4 and class 10?

Hello, I just recieved my 16 gig memory card and was very happy to see it compatible with my phone. So I can't comment on the 32 gig but feel free to enjoy the 16 gig.
When I got my wing, the Tmobile rep said not to use anything higher than a 4gb card. He was quite dramatic when he leaned over the counter and said it.
Sandisk 4 GB SDHC here. No problems.

16 gig Kingston with no changes in access time. looking forward to getting a 32 gig.
The Wing supports SDHC Cards (All SDHC Cards use the same Technology to store information)
Any Card 4GB+ is considered SDHC
Therefore, any card that is SDHC, would be supported, as long as the technology doesn't change as the sizes get bigger and bigger.
And BTW, if anyone spends the $$ on a 32GB, maybe they should be donating to our Cooks instead... haha
i use a 16gig microcenter memory card.

LMAO i couldnt stop laughing when i read this.
SD CARD LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!
rofl i lol'd too. im sure it was an oversight or something. anyway im still curious if the device can even use the whole transfer rate offered by a class six. Can anyone confirm that this phone can utilize a class 6 to its full potential?
*so i read up that wiki. according to that then there is no point in getting anything over a class two since the top speed it hits with a class 6 is .5 MB/s and the class 2 bandwidth limit is 2Mb/s*
sooooo any thoughts on this?
sandisk does have a 32gb microsd.... but it's class 2 and $200
http://sandisk.com/products/mobile-memory-products/sandisk-microsdhc
not in stock now though.... it was a bit back....
neato, but if it was in stock wouldn't it have the same performance on our phone as a class 6? From what i wrote earlier, i believe our speed is capped by a hardware limitation so 4+ class speeds wont help?.
id really like an expert to confirm this.
I would also like an experts advice on this matter... I am stuck with a 2g micro card and am looking to buy the biggest one I can stick in my phone.

Depends on how soon you want it. Also, I presume you are using a similar device to the TP... I was in a BestBuy recently and they had an 8gb microsd in-stock! The only place I was able to get a 16gb microsd(class 2), was online unfortunately. Of course, I did see a few 32GB usb sticks for under $100 and grabbed one up, several months ago...
Also, as physical proof that a 16gb card will work/be recognized:

save money, get a slower class. 16 gb works.
Let's bring this thread up to date now in 2016 I can confirm 128gb and 200gb micro sd cards work in my T7272.

A class 10 will always blow out a class 4 when performance is involved (manufacturer branding aside of course). I have had a 32gb c10 for about a year now and love it. Before I had a 16gb c6 which was way better than the garbage that phones come with as stock.
Here is a nice little app that I use from time to time to check my r/w speeds. Pretty accurate for an in-phone-sdcard speed reader. Best tests are done on PC but this one is close.
Class most certainly makes a difference. That said, 32GB cl 4 for $30 is also a great deal. I'd step up to Cl 10 for another $10 though.
Wow awesome price! Noobb question would the vibrant support it? If so im ordering it now

Yes. I am rocking a 32gb right now with about 200cds, 4 movies and a bunch of other stuff and only have 14gb used, plus that extra 9gb I have free on the internal.
Seriously with +/-16gb internal and a 32gb sdcard, that is almost 50gb of storage. Remember when PCs had 30gb hd drives and that was huge?
^ Another MAJOR reason why I am SO glad to have the Vibrant back. The GS4G only had a 1GB internal... wooptie doo for the next generation Vibrant.
I can recall my first mp3 player with 256MB space. Ouch.

How long it takes your phone to scan the card on booting/mounting?
I had a 16GB class 6 it worked fine on reading/writing, but everytime phone took long time on scanning, so switched back to 8GB class 6, much faster on scanning
Maybe 2 minutes max. With strategic .nomedia files it only scans what I want it too.

It is very new so the price is high. And it is one of the fastest cards that exist.
can you run a benchmark to see if the note can utilize the speed of the card ?
not bad for 70euros. but adding this to the note, will easily give us technically 80GB. nice purchase. i wonder when that will be available here in asia.
But does the Note 10.1 support UHS-I? Because if not this would be for us just a super expensive regular 20 MB/s card...

Even a SanDisk Ultra Class 6 can give you up to 30mbps. I use a San Disk Ultra Class 10 & have never come close to hitting 30mbps speeds on anything other than DSLR. For phone or tablet, stick with class 6 or 10 if cheap. Otherwise, you are just paying for something you aren't using anyway.
BTW, The new 32Gb SanDisks are 90mbps.

How do you know this? The support is in the kernel, and IIRC any newer controller should be able to- there's hardware older than our Notes which definitely does.

Question about micro SD cards to go with this phone

I know what the different class ratings mean as far as write/read speeds go for a phone, but as a first time buyer of one, I was looking for recommendations as far as what class would best suit an S4, as I'm looking to purchase a 64 gig card where the prices can vary by a fairly large margin. Also, brand recommendations would be appreciated as well with anyone with real knowledge on the matter! Thanks!

As mentioned, "class 10", but be very careful there is a huge problem with cards that are being sold as class 10 cards that don't preform nearly to the specs that a class 10 card should. This is a problem that all card manufacturers are facing. It is due to many reasons, counterfeit cards, mismarked cards, substandard production, re-marked cards, etc... Even cards with packaging that looks legit, so, good luck.

I would hope so, but with all of the problems I wouldn't count on it. I've bought many miro-SD cards in the past several months. I've bought Sandisk 32 GIG class 10 cards (or so they were represented) from Radio Shack, Amazon, and Best Buys. None of them benchmarked as class 10 when it came to Write speeds. They were all between 6 and 8 times write speed. I also bought a PNY 32 GIG class 10 card. It benchmarked at over 10X write speed and worked very well, however, it lasted about 2 weeks and crapped out. I've used Amazon basics and Samsung cards before, but they were 16 GIG cards and seemed to work well (I didn't benchmark them). If you do searches on Google about the issue or look at reviews for cards available on Amazon you can see how big of an issue it is.
When companies say like "up to 64GB", is that simply because that's the max that's available right now or is it a physical limit? When 128GB microSD cards come out, wouldn't they be compatible too since they'll still be SDXC?

Yes, that is why they say that. I can say that having been amongst the first to purchase 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64GB cards at times when manufacturers said they did not work - they all did.
