Froyo root. - Vibrant General

Hey guys... I just upgraded to the official froyo update (2.2) on my vibrant through samsung kies. Now I'm looking for a walktgrough on rooting it, but everything I find is on rooting with eclair (2.1).
Can someone please guide me in the right direction or post a link I could follow.
Thanks in advance!

The latest oneclick version will do this for you, Also search the bible there is a link somewhere in there that has the update file you can just place in your internal sd card then go into recovery and install that. Both will work.

download superoneclick root, you can find that by using the search tool on the forum for Vibrant.

[APP][TEST] Need a tester for a how to root app. Someone who knows how to root

Hey guys, I have made this app that will help noobs root their Vibrants. (A little late in the game yes...) Anyway, I was wanting someone to look through the app and see if they can spot any problems or any steps I left out. Thanks.

This is for your computer, not your phone.
You're going to need Adobe Air installed.

2.1 only? If 2.2 does it include the modified 3e recovery?
And as a heads up on GB, which we should have soon, we see a movement of root being included in the kernel which you would flash via Odin and the just download superuser from the market.

Is there a large difference? I have only rooted my phone while it was running 2.1. I have never downloaded the official 2.2 rom from t-mobile.

[Q] Stock Gingerbread 2.3.3 (4.5.596) Rooting

Hello XDA
I recently updated my phone through Verizon to
Android Version 2.3.3
System Verion 4.5.596
Before I was interested in rooting. I have been researching and tried everything I could find to root this version
but nothing has worked. (gingerbreak, z4root, easyroot, ect.) I did a factory reset/system wipe.
(still 2.3.3 - 4.5.596 on reset)
Am I doing something wrong? Should this version be rooting with GingerBreak or another root program?
(They all are stuck on loading screens never finish or reboot)
or (from what I have read) do I need to rollback to an earlier version to be able to load the 'prerooted'
gingerbread OS?
I am fairly new to this, and am sorry for my ignorance. If it is out there somewhere a link would safice
but as of now I haven't been able to find anything dealing directly with my situation. Thank you for any
and all help.
-Laskowsky
There's no rooting method through stock 2.3.3 yet
you're gonna have to SBF back to stock .340 and flash p3droid's OTA rooted gingerbread ROM
Ok, I was hoping there was a simplier way but expected that for the most part from what I had read. Thank you.
Rooting my Stock Gingerbread 2.3.3 (4.5.596) Droid X
I don't want to sound redundant to skate 72w but I have searched the forums up and down.. Is there any other one-click way to root my stock GB 4.5.596 droid x? I found this article
I do not see where it talks about the 4.5.596...
If not, can someone please direct me in the right way to get froyo back so I can have my wireless tether back!
Thanks,
-Nick
There is a rooting method or p3droid would not have been able to root. Wish he would share.

p3 tends to 'find' things that other folks don't have. He has a rooted .596 but it's achieved through flashing. He has not announced a way to root the OTA, and I think he would do so if he had one.
Everyone questions p3droids methods.
If you want to root: do some searching here.
Edit: link fixed

Is the sticky still there?
I would consider myself to be a noob when it comes to rooting, all i want it for is the wireless tethering. I have done an sbf once but dont feel very good about doing it again, and am just looking for another one click method to rooting like z4root. I am running on gingerbread 4.5.596 from verizon.
OTA Root
I love my Droid X - hate the VZ CRAPWARE.
I now have the 4.5.596 (2.3.3) OTA update.
The only update method to obtain root is to SBF to Froyo - Root - and install the TBH/P3 Droid pre-rooted update.
At this point, I have too many apps installed and too many settings to reconfigure to take the route.
My main goal is to obtain root (such as a Z4 root style one click) so that I can maintain all my apps and configurations. Once I root, then I can freeze all the VZ Crap (every Google Maps update requires me to choose between GM and VZ Navigator the first time 1 click an address, and having to choose the contacts database EVERY TIME to Google is a PITA - Backup Assistant should be something I can DISABLE).
Sorry for the rant - to the point - does anyone know if ongoing efforts are being made to create a one-click Root for the Droid X? (Or a multi step that preserves data / apps / and settings)

guess what sucks about rooting leaks is that it gives the vendors the holes to repair.. if we didnt root the latest.. the ota probably would probably be rootable.

you will need to downgrade to 2.2 first. there is a guide in the development forum which will help you do that and then you can root using visionary or anything like that.
Got it done finally! Thanks
Once rooted can you upgrade to 2.3 and all will be fine or do you have to stay with 2.2?

If you flash any official update, you will lose root.
There are pre-rooted versions of the Gingerbread update in the Development section. That is what you want to flash.

[Q] No blue light on reboot (2ndinit)

Hi guys, I've read other threads about this and I'm getting nowhere tbh, The phone is rooted and is on Android 2.1, I read that I might need to upgrade to 2.2 for 2ndinit to work but I've no idea how to do this as the phone says it already has the latest software?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

2.1 is NOT the latest update. For 525 is Froyo 2.2.1 and for 526 is Gingerbread 2.3.7?
Anyway you can flash a Froyo from the forum, root it with framaroot and .....
Can someone please post a link for the sbf I need to flash, I've tried to download it but it just goes to ilivid or page not found

CWM Upgrade/flashing

I currently own a rooted Samsung Galaxy s 4g (SGH-T959V) running Gingerbread with ClockWorkMod v5.0.2.7 Voodoo lag fix.
I am getting pretty frustrated with the fact that I am running froyo because I can not get most of the apps I want. Plus, the Gingerbread homescreen is so slow and just looks weird. So I want to upgrade to kit kat. But I hear I have to upgrade CWM, and I have no idea how to do that.
If someone could give me the links to all the kernels and steps to do so it would be much appreciated.
Thank You!

There is like...literally no possible way you are running Froyo. It hasn't been developed in like 3 years.
As for links to all KitKat stuff, there is a search feature that will guide you to all that you need.
One problem bro, I really am running froyo and I have searched it but couldn't find anything for my device. Please if you do know where to find it it would save me a TON of time if you would just tell me.

Dud I am so sorry. You are right. I double checked my frimware and it says 2.3.6 so you aee right it is Gingerbread.

Do you know how to flash a one click? If you don't know how to flash one follow lumin's guide, except use the one click .jar file I linked below instead of the one he says to use in his guide. (Note the one click won't contain the bootloaders so skip that step when you get to it)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21953878&postcount=2
I have a one click that's only bhundven's blastoff v2.5 kernel. If you're already on gingerbread this will install the blue CWM v5 for you that will allow you to flash a kitkat rom.

I recommend the cm11 (kitkat 4.4.3) builds Ive been pushing out. You can find them here, make sure you grab the latest ones (they all have dates):
