Team Whiskey - Nexus S General

Please make a super themed Nexus S rom. I know we all Nexus S Gingerbread owner's have a pure Google experience but, it's not the same unless we have a pure Developer experience. I'm asking Team Whiskey because you guys worked miracles on the Vibrant. I know that Team Whiskey will get my support and, lot's of other happy Nexus S owners. I'm very happy with this phone but, with a great touch of Team Whiskey everything is awesome and nice. What's your take on my thought, good or bad? please post your thoughts thanks.

Hi have you tried the bionix rom with trinity kernel?
Check out the dev section on the nexus s forum

Bionix rom is out but it hasn't been updated in a while. Known reboot issue but I think the team whisky guys other than morphic are busy working the kinks out and making ui options for their new bionix vibrant rom. Here's to hoping they come back soon for us. I love cyanogenmod for this phone and others but I pretty much only used teamwhiskey roms the entire time I had my vibrant and they were awesome. Some of the most polished roms out there and usually amazing battery life with all the speed and enhancements

Ill have to agree. I miss team whiskeys releases since I had my vibrant. It would be nice to see the same level of development for the NS as well. No pressure to the devs though. I sincerely appreciate any effort of development within XDA.

Yes I flased the bionix rom for the Nexus S and, I went into the Vibrant Android development section and flash the newest bionix rom for the Vibrant and, boy it was wow! If I might say. The bionix Team Whiskey rom for the Vibrant is what made me throw out this post; that rom was that great! Besides, the bionix rom for the Nexus S...it just didn't have much of Team Whiskey in it. Coming from the Vibrant's Team whiskey work to the Nexus S Team Whiskey work, you would know something was missing.

just be patient
their latest 1.3b is stable
if you want OC, you can always add trinity to it
besides, there are no new Google updates yet, there's no need to have a new ROM every week, just for the sake of flashing something new every week
if you are a flash addict, might as well go try CM7 or any other ones available with daily changes

I thank the gods of android that I broke the flash a day rom addiction I'd developed with my i9000 and N1! Such a time consumer trying to keep up on that treadmill.
I really am 95% or better satisfied with stock rom, still.
Might try netarchy kernel, for the voodoo sound improvements though...

+1, although I am still constantly on the forums searching for my daily fix.

I still miss flashing new roms constantly like I did on the Evo. I'd try one for a few hours and flash a new one. It'd be completely different. I'm doing the same with kernels now but its not the same lol.

From someone who has never seen Bionix rom on Virbant, please explain what it is that differs the bionix rom for the Virbant to the Nexus S Bionix rom. Does it have different/more fancy graphics?

Team Whiskey ROMS = Great speed, stability, great battery life, updated regularly, etc. 'Nuff said.

They're that good, huh? I've been pretty loyal throughout my N1, MT4G and NS days to Cyanogen. During my time with the Vibrant, I was too busy being pissed off at both Samsung and the Odin app to try flashing ROMs besides Eugene's.

No. They're not on the same caliber at all, CyanogenMod and TeamWhiskey's works are two separate things.
CyanogenMod doesn't base their ROMs off OTAs. They base their ROMs from AOSP SOURCE.
Whereas, Team Whiskey use the OTA as the base of their ROM. I'm assuming that when CM7 is released as stable then they'll base their ROMs off that.
But in the end, I will always give the team at CyanogenMod more credit because they are building from AOSP source whereas TeamWhiskey just base off OTAs and add things on top of it.
Flame me all you want, but this is just my two cents and I'm laying out the facts here. I don't have any favoritism to any group or a fanboy of CyanogenMod but I tend to have much more respect for people who build from AOSP source because this takes a lot more effort rather than basing off a ROM that is already built together and adding things on top of it.

I was referring to Team Whiskey and Eugene with regards to the Vibrant.

Oh okay. Because you quoted something with Cyanogen in there too.
Just saying that the two should never be compared to each other, its a incompatible comparison.

Interesting thread....i kind of agree also. I lve tried a lot of the different roms available for my nexus and every time i keep going back to bionix.
So far i just found them to be the most friendly when it comes to battery life...also extremely speedy and stable overall.
I would likr to see more themes and customisation options tho. But yep...overall, you cant really go wrong with bionix. I been on the beta 1.3 release for about 2 weeks now and no real issues.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App

ya, this is way off...i didn't ask how CyanogenMod differs from Team Whiskey. This has nothing to do with CyanogenMod.
I asked how the Team Whiskey Bionix rom for the Vibrant differs from the Team Whiskey Bionix rom for the Nexus S? The author of the quoted message above stated that the Virbant version is better and I would like to know in which ways since I can't compare the two. I'm still wondering if anyone can answer please.

It depends of what you want, speed, stability, latest, etc, and what your phone can handle mine can't handle overclock for example.
IMHO Eclair TeamWhisky Fusion Rom, Froyo Axura 2.0.4 Master.
I hope this help you.

haha! you said it well! I was about to say this.
Axura, and .5 should be even better once released.
You should go to the dev section and read about the different roms. They have different things that are good about each. Also different roms might work better on your phone than others. The 3 most popular seem to be Eugene, Axura and Team Whiskey(not in any order). FOr me Obsidian 4.2 with stock Kernal works the best for me. Like I said read first. One other thing I would say do is ODIN between each different Rom maker you use.
Obsidian v5 is running very smooth and fast for me, plus I love the black theme. I'd recommend it!
its all a matter of personal preference I personally like the Auxra ROM I like the looks the speed the battery life and the screen transitions! But look into the Android Development forum and read the feed back.

I do it just to keep from getting Ghosts. Its just my opinion.
Ive tried them all and I personally prefer axura for its amazing speed and battery life. The GPS works great for me too. Combined with Eugene's A14 ULF OC/UV kernel this rom flies. But be careful with the ulf kernel. I've had some pretty serious issues with converting dbdata to jfs...I would totally lose my data connection.

He was just messing with you, we have no gingerbread.
For me, it's stock JI6+JI2 modem + /data/data symlinked to /dbdata/data + root. It's fast as hell, solid as a mountain and gives me no problems at all.
i haven't flashed any of eugene's more current roms so i can't speak to those. however, i've been running the obsidian and onyx roms and they are great. but i flashed axura 2.0.4 last night and have been super impressed with it.
and really, imo, there is no reason to be flashing 2.1 roms anymore. there are great froyo roms that are fully functional, stable, and smooth.

[Q] [Poll] What is your favorite custom ROM?

Dug through 5 pages and didn't see this topic. I'm anxious to try EXT4 on my epic and I was wondering how you all feel about the ROMs you loaded on your phones. What's your favorite and why? What other roms have you tried?
My current setup is in my Sig but I love it. Its beautiful, smooth, and completely awesome.
My setup is in my sig too. I've tried almost all and this my favorite.
I'm currently using midnight with ext4 file system and it blows the doors off the two I previously used, epic experience 2.0.0.5 and then bonsai for all 1.0.4
Take care

After going from Bonsai 1.0.4 to Quantum 2.5.0, then back to Bonsai 1.1.1, I gotta say, Bonsai rocks the socks off Quantum. It's so much more smooth and glitch free. I also didn't care for Viper's theme or the attitude from the EpicExperience guy.
i gotta say the poll results surprise me. I suppose what is important to epic owners really does vary.

What surprised you? I'm curious. I was surprised too, however the sample size is small enough that its not really indicative of anything just yet. What surprised me was how many fellow Nebula users there are and how many bonsai users there are. From what I understand those are the two least flashy roms (flashy meaning speedy or pretty or the like) but just plain jane stable roms.
I'm using nebula 1.0.6 also ith ext4 and its really minimalistic. I love it.

To be perfectly honest. You're likely to see a 2.3 from Samsung first.
I'm not doubting these developers but its like they just like to theme up the same rom over and over. Pick any rom and its the exact same as the others , just a different theme and some minor tweaks. Tweaks you can find with a quick google.
I have 2.3.1 AOSP booting but 2d isn't working out for me. Some modules aren't building either.

I know for a fact that these developers do more than "theme and tweak". They not only improve the current roms by increasing stability but they get the sources and build their own kernels and release them for good use. These devs make the vibrant a powerhouse. And they do it for free. So do your research bro

What kind of a kick are you on IE: you want touchwhiz or AOSP looks. I for one am on a AOSP'ish kick right now. Running Biwinning 3.0 with the SGS II theme and launcher2 from the G2. I read alot during the middle of the night so 2.2.1 is an absolute must since the capacitive buttons don't light up while turning a page or scrolling the screen. On top of that I am running the bullet 1.48 kernel and it is as smooth as butter. Last but certainly not least that kernel allows a screen off profile of 400-100 so my battery life while not in use is fantastic. I'd say figure out what you want out of the phone and test until everything clicks how you want. If a rom isn't what you want look-wise cruise through all the great themes we have and have that decide which rom to run. Options are vast as it stands now.
I recommend the MIUI 360 rom.

CM7 and MIUI roms are pretty great. Just read the instructions carefully and you'll be just fine. You can flash CM7 or MIUI over 2.2 roms by disabling voodoo first. Once that's done you can flash away. Be sure to grab a copy of the ka5 or ka7 radio/modems just in case you end up with no signal afterwards.
get your ass on CM7 before i slap you onto it.

Vibrant - project-v, bali 1.8.6UV kernel.
I think I found my sweet spot at ZenDroid with Bali 1.86 UV. After all, this device is still made to be a phone, and while CM7 based roms are fun to play around with for a few days or weeks, I still need a stable rom for my daily use. But if I get bored, I always have my HD7 around to play around with before I come back the the good ole Vibrant.
On another note, this community has certainly gotten a lot more fun and better. Certainly much much better than that HD7 community (if you can call it one at all).

I have to agree with XPLANE and philliple. Since I've been using ZenDroid I haven't even been checking for new roms. It's stripped down, super fast and stable, and very aesthetically pleasing.

Getting an atrix to play with

Getting an atrix to play with and have a couple questions.
is there an Miui?
How many custom roms are there?
What are people looking for in custom roms?

1) MIUI in progress, look in the dev forum, should be a thread there
2) there are a lot of custom roms based on the stock GB firmware and the CM7 firmware(all with various tweaks). I really don't know how much though.. 10? refer to #1.
3) personally I need something lean and fast... I could care less about fingerprint and webtop.
If I got the the right rdannar, he is a talented dev from the x10 forum a while back. I hope you consider producing a Rom or two. What we need is if possible a very light blur Rom built for speed and fully functional. Or you can team up with the miui or cm team for webtop ideas. Glad your considering helping us with the ATRIX. Welcome.

Ninja, Darkside, Aura, CM7 (All the roms based on CM7 as well) are either de-blurred or have 2 different versions, one with blur or very minimal blur. What exactly are you looking for?
1. MIUI is currently in Alpha 2, no details on the Beta release yet, but here's the thread.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1383721
2. Quite a few ROM's for the Atrix.
-Darkside ROM (Nottach)
-Alien ROM (Kenneth from Briefmobile, not being updated)
-Aura (Diviance, not being updated anymore I believe)
-CM7 (Atrix Dev Team, working on CM9 now)
-Ninja (Sam Cripp)
-GingerMod (Evogp)
-RedPill and RedPill CM7 Hybrid (Dorian from Atrix Forums Website)
There's more but that's some of them, most of them rather that I know are still on the 1-2 page.
3. Mainly, when I look to flash a ROM, I would like it to be stable, smooth, fast, minimal blur or none at all.

lean and fast i mean real lean and fast is
neutreno rom by notorious544
fastest benchmarks of any rom; cm7 based or blur for atrix yet i was 14 pionts shy of 7000 on antutu
bench with fauxs old 1.4.5 kernal
with no undervolt and.maxed.min and max
I use neutrino (hopefully I spelled that correctly). Also welcome to the Atrix side glad to have you. There is a KANG CM9 in progress but the OP on that thread doesn't seem to have much more to say.
The Atrix Dev Team are great guys I think they would be happy if you could help them.

Hope you like the atrix! Coming from the x10 I sure do!
I can tell you what i'm looking for in custom roms though. ICS! We have a port but it's really an alpha, much like the x10 one.
See? ... Another proof that the Atrix 4G is still very alive and kicking!!!
(in reference to another post where pessimistic AT&T employees are saying that the Atrix 4G has reached it's end of life.)
Welcome to the Atrix rdannar
Thanks for all feedback.. I should have it today. The first thing I usually do is deblur and slim down a rom to get used to its files... Then theme and framework.. Then who knows? I have a Gs2 that I do roms (waiting for ics and new computer to do more) for so this will be a toy...
