Hello Screwstonboy10. Welcome to XDA.
Can you please be more specific with what it is you have done so far, and what you are eventually trying to accomplish?
How did you root the phone?
Have you flashed any recovery with rom manager?
Without more information, no one will really be able to help you.
Also, there's no reason to "pay for help" here. If someone helps you and you feel compelled, you may donate to them, but it isn't required.

Well what is perm root to my phone and it say s=off and when I go to rom manager and I press reboot into recovery I will reboot but my screen stay on the turn on screen were it say mytouch 4g and also my question is it doing that cuz I dnt have clockwork recovery 3.xxxxx or is not properly rooted and also how can I flash clockwork rexovery 3.xxxx please help me

Ok, from what I gather you are rooted but still running fully stock. Is that correct? Have you installed Clockwork Recovery to your phone? This can be done by going to rom manager and choosing the "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" selection. If it says "Flashed succsesfully" you should have CWM recovery installed and can proceed to this thread and follow the instructions to install the newest version of CwM. After that is done you should be able to flash the rom of your choice.
When you try to reboot into recovery, you should try holding powering off and then hold down the vol button and the power button to enter into H-boot. Then scroll down with your vol button to recovery and hit the power button to select it. That should boot you into recovery. (if still stock recovery it will give you a red triangle).

Boot loader is unlocked but i don't have root access Nexus One Running 2.3.3

hello everyone. i been a long time lurker of this site but never had the courage/motive to post. but i have an issue.
after much reading of how great rooting your phone can be. i too wanted to do it. so i looked n looked until i decided that id tryout CM7 cyanogen site
i believe i was able to unlock the bootloader/device. everytime i power up my phone regular start up starts with an unlocked lock at the bottom(like its supposed to right lol)
but here is as far as i get to go. i backed up my apps with astro file manager. then downloaded rom manager n as soon as i open it says "you must root your phone for ROM manager to function. superuser was not found at "/system/xbin/su". use goo search on ur computer to root your phone"
im stuck here because well im a noob and dont know why this is showing up. i was kinda hoping one of you guys could help me out here...
Taking straight from the wiki. Please read it before asking questions.
very generic explanation of steps needed to update a stock phone to custom ROM:
Download the ROM of your choice.
Copy the downloaded ROM image to the SD card
Root if you don't want to unlock bootloader (or just unlock bootloader).
Flash custom recovery image (if not done while rooting)
Turn off the phone
Turn on the phone while holding Volume Down
Select "BOOTLOADER" from the menu
Select "RECOVERY" from the menu
Select "Wipe"
Select "Wipe data / factory reset"
Select "Wipe Dalvik cache"
Return to main recovery menu
Select "Flash update.zip" or "Flash ZIP file"
Turn off verification, if such option is presented
Select your downloaded ROM image
Wait for the flash to finish successfully, if it didn't - do not continue!
Return to main recovery menu
Reboot the phone
You can follow a video walkthrough for this here: How to Flash a Custom ROM
To add to the post above, look at my signature and make sure you read and execute the relevant guide.
Just to clarify what the others are saying. You don't have root because you didn't root your phone.
You only unlocked the bootloader, which allows you to flash partitions through fastboot.
you havent rooted ,just unlocked bootloader

since you have a unlocked bootloader you can do fastboot flash..
get amon ra recovery and do fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
after you do that it should say sending flashing and done with no errors
from then reboot into recovery and do a nandroid of rom then do wipe and wipe and flash selected rom you want.. cm7 plus gapps after reboot and you haverom..
nexus one is ez to gainroot if you unlockboot loadder.. if you dont then it gets more complicated..

[Q] what next?

Im rooting my phone and I followed this guys method
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypJ9qFkT-Jw&feature=related
I did everything it told me to and now i am wondering what i need to do next? like how to flash roms. Sorry for my stupidity and being a noob.
I looked at one of the threads to flash a clockwork and i installed rom manager.
I clicked reboot to recovery and it did but it had a black screen with a phone and a red trinalge on it.
Help please?
Are you sure you're completely rooted? Do you have S-Off?

first make sure your s-off. Pull the battery, hold the down volume button and the power button. Will be on the top line.
to get out of that recovery just pull the battery. To flash a custom recovery image just download ROM manager and select the top option. just downloading the Clockwork ROM Manager will not automatically install the recovery image.
As far as ROMs go there is a plethora of choices in the development section. Sense 3.0 or Cyanogen are my two favorites.
I'd also check out the "post your eMMC serial" number thread to make sure you have a good eMMC. a bad one can end up ugly.
thanks for the help. It does say s-off and i just flashed the clockwork recovery from rom manager app. When i do the adb shell for commands on the PC it doesnt give me the emmc serial #. it puts $ and when i put su it says permission denied. Do you know why?
Did you actually click permaroot in visionary

You need to do it from the recovery image. You need to have ADB up and working see my signature. Once
Code:
adb devices
picks up your phone, you need to return to the eMMC thread.
I did it from the recovery image and it still didnt work although adb devices put my device # on it

[Q] Rooting GingerBread 2.3.4 on HTC G2

Hey everybody, I need some help perm rooting my HTC G2. Im using these instructions to permroot my G2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1206930
Im stuck on this section....
Save the attached files (PC10IMG.zip & su.zip) to your sdcard. Reboot into the bootloader either by using the adb command adb reboot bootloader or by powering off, and then holding Vol-Down+Power.
The bootloader will scan for PC10IMG.zip and then ask you if you want to flash the recovery. Yes! You do!
After this, reboot the phone. Reboot into recovery by using the adb command adb reboot recovery, or booting back into the bootloader and navigating to the Recovery console (if you didn't delete the PC10IMG.zip, bootloader will scan it, but don't let it update again, this is redundant).
Once you are in ClockworkMod, navigate to "install zip from sdcard", then to "choose zip from zip card". Select the su.zip file from the list, and authorize the recovery console to flash the zip. Reboot the phone.
Now, you will see the coveted SuperUser app in your drawer. I figured this was wayyyy to easy to have worked, so I tested some root dependent apps, they work flawlessly. I also used the adb command adb shell followed by su once in the shell. SuperUser requested my permission and after granting it, I am able to remove the bloatware that was replaced during the downgrade, also, rebooting the phone as normal and from a removed battery does not remove this root. So I'll say it's a permaroot.
I compiled the attached files specifically for this. The ClockworkMod Recovery version is 3.0.2.4, SuperUser version is 2.3.6.1.
I currently have my G2 with S-OFF and a stock Gingerbread 2.3.4. I have the PC10IMG.zip and su.zip in the root or directly in my sdcard. In no folders im trying to say... I reboot into the bootloader. The bootloader will scan for PC10IMG.zip and then ask you if you want to flash the recovery. Yes! You do!
Well when I do it it doesnt ask me to "flash the recovery" it says "Parsing....(SD ZIP)
(1) RECOVERY
Do you want to start the update?
<VOL UP> YES
<VOL DOWN> NO
I accept the update by pressing vol. up. It comes back and says Update comeplete... - OK
Press Power to Reboot
I reboot and get into clockworkmod it says click "install zip from sdcard" I click it and a little hat appears but it doesnt do anything from there. I let it set a couple of min but still nothing... I have to pull battery out to get it to reboot. help pls....

DUDE YOUR THE MAN!!!!!!! This was my first root, bad thing was I upgraded to Gingerbread 2.3.4 before getting S-OFF so I had to downgrade too Froyo 2.2 and go thru all the mumbo jumbo of getting S-OFF and Perma Root. Then reflash Froyo 2.2 with S-OFF so I could upgrade to Gingerbread 2.3.4.
You know how many hours Ive spent on this the last 2 days LMAO to get stuck on the last step in CWM because I was hitting the power button instead of the OPTICAL button lol. My brain was so fried last night. Almost bounced my phone off the wall... Thanks again... +1 for you...

You should go to CMW topic and ask...
Make sure your CMW Build match you GS5 Variant.
Make sure a latest CMW Build can solve your problem.

It happened to me to. Do this like I did and it will work.
First, get in download mode then flash CF auto root via Odin, it Will give you root access. Reboot the phone, click on superuser and click yes to remove Knox.
Then get in download mode again and flash the custom recovery of your choice. Then let the phone reboot. Sign in with your Google account then go to play store and download the quick boot app free version. Launch it and click recovery, it Will ask you to grant root access, grant it and there you go, you will reboot in recovery no issues.
After that you'll be able to reboot into recovery manually by pressing volume up, home button and power button anytime just like it is supposed to.
I don't know why it didn't in the first place but this method works and it is super easy.

Recovery Help on Galaxy S4

Hello,
I've rooted my phone using the towelroot method and everything seems to be ok. I checked my root status and it came back clean. Got the SuperSU and installed the binary. Now the problem is, I have a bad recovery. Everytime I go to install a ROM from SD, or use ROM manager to install a rom, my phone boots into recovery but I get the "Could Not Boot Normal" - Odin Mode
Downloading... Do not turn off target! And it just hangs there. I'm able to reboot using vol down + home + power and cancelling the "download" - but there shouldn't be anything to download - the ROM is on my SD card. Does this mean that I have a curropted recovery? I currently have both ClockworkMod and TWRP installed. I can't seem to get rid of one or the other.
Any recommendations? I really want to throw a 4.4.3 Rom on this device.
Thanks in advance.
You cannot instal custom ROM from stock recovery.
You need to have custom recovery (CWM, TWRP...) but this step void knox to 0x1.

HI guys,
Thanks for the replies, though I'm not sure I understand them. I have two recoveries installed, according to Rom Manager - Clockworkd and TWRP. Are these the stock recoveries? I guess I thought that's all I needed. I'm not concerned about the warranty too much.

Thanks for the reply! When I go to ROM Manager and select "Reboot into Recovery" it asks if I want to boot into Clockworkmod. I hit yes, and the phone reboots, but then goes to the this (attached) page and stays there. Then I have to do Vol down Home Power to cancel the "download" to boot normally.
I had a Droid Eris and HTC Thunderbold that I successfully rooted back in their day - but this one click towelroot seems to have screwed me up a little - though to be fair, the majority of fault probably rests at my feet.

Do not use any Managers etc. They´ve made a lot of problems.
If you don´t have problem with warranty use CF-Auto-Root. Towelroot is good only for people who wants warranty.
CWM or TWRP flash via Odin and you will see

Great, thanks for the tip. Should I un-root the phone then? I have the option in the toolbox. Unroot then re-root using the Odin method?
