Have i got an EXT partition? - Wildfire General

is there an easy way to find out if i have an ext partition on my sd card
im having trouble getting 160 mb free after using wildpuzzle 0.6 and im thinking its because my ext partition is wrong / not there
thanks

Have u used Rom manager to partition your SD card n wat size SD card is it and how space do u have when there is nothink on the SD card
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App

yeh i used rom manager
its a 16gb card
and i have approx 14.9gb
im curious coz for the life of me (and i have tried lots of things now...i'm almost redy to give up) i cannont get the 160mb (ish) free on my phone following the guide by melvinchng

Plug ur SD card in a card reader and see how much space u have if u have ruffly 15.3gb total space then u have a ext3 n swap2 I now melvin well now on his tutoraol some had same problem and they changed they way they did it just have a gud look threw tutorial
Ps did u install wp6 then use Rom manager then wipe all data in Android recovery then do a fresh install of wp6

i just read through the thread and got confused at most of it lol
yeh it was about 15.3 (i just realised i still have 0.5 0.6 and 0.8 zip files still on my pc)
yeh i installed 0.6 then partioned then 0.6 again
i need a way of going all the way back to the begining and starting again (complety wiping the phone back to default and sd card back to default)

To completely wipe ur SD card go to my Rom page and go to second thread n look for create your own ext3 n swap 2 follow the step in the tutorial
But delete all the partitions on the SD then right click and create. partition and make sure ur hole SD card is fat32 then start again with melvin tutorial buddie
Also if his steps Dnt work go to his tutorial n go to page 11 n look for marc's way of doin the progress
Ps Dnt create a ext3 or swap 2 with paratition manager as it don't work but deleting all the partition on ur SD card will work I did it my self
If u need any more help just ask

Maximum without ext is 14.9gb.

So u had a fresh SD card then u installed wp6 on it then went to Rom manager used the create partition then u loaded up the phone then turned it of taken the battery out used a card reader to put wp6 on to the SD card then u went into recovery and wipe data and wipe cache data and then reboot the recovery and then installed wp6
If that's wat u did then it should have worked fine Cus that's wat I do
If u still can't get it to work speak to melvin he's always ready to help as I can't help any more as that's as much as I can help sorry

Best and easiest way to do ext partitions is to use gparted live cd on a usb stick. Simple

Use the above link
MAKE PROPER BACK UP!
i have bricked my phone at first tried again it worked
Use titanium back-up to check if a2sd has been enabled.
Your internal may still appear full after you apply the script since it creates a fail-safe in the int memory you may delete the not so imp apps..
And Be sure to thank the dev who made it if it works for you.

ok i succeed
but how to take the app form sd to phone
You cant, since its a script and not the actual thing we cannot select which apps would stay in sd and which would stay in the internal memory.
All the apps are loaded to sd card by default.
It doesnt make much of a diff cause even if you remove the sd card there is a fail-safe.
the apps are located at: system/sd/apps

why my x8 ofen restrat agian and agian after app2sd . i have to US it . help me
Its not turning on? Then its stuck in infinite boot loop..
Sometimes it takes 3 reboots to start the phone but the phone starts.
Try to remove sd card then start the phone. Then insert the sd card. Then you can use the script again to uninstall app2sd...then you can reformat the ext2 partition and try to app2sd again or leave the phone if ur scared
If it doesn't your only option is to restore using SEUS

Ok i do not app2sd now .because it often restrat i think the problem maybe 1.6 . do you now when it update to 2.1. Somebody say 2.1 will come before 12.15 . it is right (i keep all app in my sdcard . using them after updata 2.1 )
No idea everyone waiting for the update...best guess would be first week of dec.
If you remove sd card before launch or reflash you won't have app2sd
Sent from my E15i using XDA App
Now when 2.1 update is here, can i still app2sd on my xperia x8 with 2.1???
X8 on 2.1 has not been rooted yet.
Once it is rooted it should be a simple task of running the script again..

How do I unpartition my sd card? Lag fix+ extra space.

Hey all, I used the lag fix which adds the extra space..but now I'm using jpf clean and probably lestatious when 1.1 is released so I kinda want the 1gb back for my sd card...but windows won't even detect the partition...can anyone help? I would have posted in the developer thread but I don't have permission yet =x

how u partition it in 1st place??
use minitool partition wizard it's freeware
Edit: all data will lost so better backup b4 deleting
I used mini tool to partition it but it doesn't show up with both partitions, it only shows the fat 32 one..i used a standard usb cable plugged into the phone when I partitioned it. All my stuff is already backed up and ready to go.

I fixed it! Just ran the lag fix..it corrupted my sd card and then the phone formatted it for me

Where did you get your SD card from cuz it sounds like it may be starting to go bad. I'd try formating again with a stock ROM...bit of a pain i know, but might produce a better result also you may wanna try to just reformat a few times in a row with your current ROM to see if it corrects the problem.
best option is if it keeps up is to pull your SD card out of your device and format with a computer when u have access to one then format using your device.

SD Card constantly remounts as being "read-only"

It's has really been the pain in the arse. Really.
I use Lord's Ice Cold Sandwich. This happens occasionally, when I tried to download SD data for a game, the SD card remounts as being read-only.
I tried full-wipe flash, format SD card with Disk Utility of Ubuntu, then reflash it with Android's utility. I tried unmounting sdcard in CWM. I tried fix permission option in CWM. Nothing helps so far.
Thanks in advance!!!
There's an app on the Play Shop which claims to fix this, give it a try

I guess the problem lies in permission thingy. Flash this zip file in here works: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458021
Gud luck!
i think your card is getting faulty ......

I actually tried that. The other day I backed up stuff than formatted the thing with Disk Utility tool of Ubuntu. I then went extreme, formatted it again on Android.
I guess the app above might help. The thing is I'm still under 18 for a credit card, hence gotta wait another year to be eligible.... mannnnn
Apparently, the SD card is still in R/W mode, it isn't til I start download data for games, download music, use dolphin... that it becomes read only. The process usually goes for half the bar, than stop.

Should I repartition the SD card with swap storage and ext4 and stuff?
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
Just format the card with 4ext then reflash rom.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
Are you able to flash your SD card? If you are having the same files after the formatting which you had then I don't think anything will work rather than replacing your SD card
