I was trying to change my notification bar changing framework-res.apk. After doing
that the device reboot by itselt and start normally but a bit slowly. I didn't like
how it looks like so I decided to put the original framework-res.apk, this time after
the reboot i can only see the sony ericsson logo and i cant do anymore. How can I
solve this? if its possible I dont want to loose my data...
Thanks
edit: I have already solved it, sorry for posting this but I was nervous. To solve it I connect the phone with the usb but the phone didn't let me root permissions so I used superoneclick. Then I put the original framework-res.apk and reboot my device. I can't figure what went wrong the first time I put the original framework-res.apk but at least everything is correct now

Hey guys, tried searching, but didn't get me anywhere.
So I rooted my xperia x10i with the universal android root 1.6.2 beta 5 (i think), it worked well.
Then I downloaded titanium backup and uninstalled an app there (not system file, it was shapewriter app).
After that, I tried out the denser LCD Brightness density 3.0 app, I set it to 200 (current was 240), it asked for a soft reset, I agreed.. But when it came back on, nightmare occured.
The Sony Ericsson logo shows, after about 15 seconds it instantly pops into this black image of my xperia x10 and a warning sign. Won't do anything after that. I tried repairing it in SE PC companion, but everytime it tells me to hold back while shoving in the usb plug, it won't download a repair file it wants. Tells me I don't have a working internet connection, even though I am writing this as we speak.
Is my phone bricked?
Thanks for all help.
first of all, it is an LCD density changer(resolution) not an LCD brightness changer, i had ur exact same problem as i used that application without having busybox and su installed, and got the yellow exclamation of death after the reboot
go to the newbie rooting guide in the android development forum and do the 5th step(u need to start from the begining of u dont have the files needed), then after u finish it, ur x10 should boot generic 16, just use pc companion or SEUS to update to os 26
You can also use the flash unbrick tool in the decrypted rom thread. With a bit of tinkering u can flash straight to 026.
Btw don't worry if that pops up. It means u messed something up but its repairable. I have done that to my x10 so many times I created a custom image when it happens so I can at least have a laugh before I reflash.

My bad! What a nice way to show everyone I'm a total moron the first day at school.
I'll try the first advice with all those steps first, here's hoping I'll learn some more when rooting the proper way instead of just clicking a button on an app!
Thanks for the advices, and your comforting words, gavriel18 (I was literally stressed out a few minutes ago). I see this forum's fast at responding! I'll let you know the heads up later on when it's done. Thanks again.
No worries buddy, the first time I got that I was scared s****less that i busted my phone in the first week.
And u don't look like a moron, we all start as noobs.
Keep us posted
Hey guys, sorry if Im repeating a thread, I looked the first 3 pages and found nothing.
Well, the thing is like this:
I downloaded z4root, xrecovery 0.3 busy box and proceed to root my phone. It all went well, root was succesful, but when I tried to install a custom ROM, that's where I think I screwed up. From xRecovery I went to "install custom zip rom" and tried to install Eminence v1.8. "Installed it" and nothing happened, it all looked the same... the thing is that later I read that this was only an extention of the X10 Res Mod, so I downloaded it and tried to install it, but when I booted the phone it got stuck in the Sony Ericsson text logo and it does nothing more... I need help :/
I can access the xRecovery menu, so I tried to do a Factory reset, but it didnt fix the problem... I dont know if with that I f%cked up things a little more.
PC Companion recognizes the phone being plugged but since I cannot mount it I cannot acces to it.
Is there anything that can be done here? Help much appreciated.
Try SEUS.... Follow instructions and you are back to a straight out of the box clean x10 again....
sent from my 2.2 X10
Thanks, I'll try that and let you know.
Thanks a lot PollPixx, it worked great. Now I'll go back and try it again, this time I'll try to read all the steps before actually start doing it ..
cheers

you have the HowTo also
Alright, so last night I was fooling around with "Type Fresh," which you guys have probably heard of. It was released here... It's a font changer...
Anyway, things were going good until I tried a font named, "Joystix," which replaced quite a few of my fonts. That caused my phone to go into a crazy bootloop.
So, at this point, I do not have Clockwork Recovery. I actually have the Stock Recovery. For some strange reason, my stock recovery just takes me to a screen with a red triangle, and factory reset just shows this hard drive and a loading bar that never goes anywhere before rebooting my phone into a boot loop.
I've checked to see if ADB will work in my stock recovery, and it does, except for the fact that my phone is, "offline," which is probably not good.
Is there anyway I can get my phone to work again? I remember when I was getting bootloops and I somehow got the phone to reinstall all the correct stuff after going into the stock Volume Down+Power thing a few days ago. I don't know or remember how. Like, it was going into the whole process of giving me the choices and said, "Do you want to update?" I said yes and voila, everything is back to normal. Sadly, this isn't the case atm. :|

Well I've never personally used type fresh to change fonts, I've done it in other ways. Just a thought for ya, but I would recommend that if you can get adb to recognize your device (cmd: adb devices) try booting into hboot(volume down + power), and see if it recognizes it regularly that way, from there I recommend trying a program called Droid. It's a windows program that I used when I messed up re-rooting my replacement mt4g (tip: Don't try rooting when having been awake for 26 hours for no apparent reason ). It has a feature called Debug Console which fixed a bootloop, and constant force close that I somehow managed. I also suggest pulling your sdcard, getting a usb scard reader, and installing the stock recovery zip (Pdimg or something like that, I forget off hand).
That's all I can think of, hope it helps
...I finally looked at my SDCard via my brother's phone.
Every thing in my SD Card pretty much has "Font" in front of it in regards to the name.
I mean... Yahoo became FontsYahoo.
wat
Solved.
For those who were wondering, I found out that I had to rename the recovery file to the PBNASFASodhwhatever it was.
Hello guys,
i got a serious and frustrating problem here.
A few days ago my xoom was stuck on the M screen, so I used a thread in the forum and recovered it.
It solved myh problem back then, but since I had 3.2 before this and the solution injected me with Android 3.01 my problems started to show themselves.
the first one is that
<b> Through Fastboot, RecoveryMod, ADB </b> and any other way you can Imagine to install a new ROM or even remove or create a file,
All of them show success message but when I check them out I see no changes.
i tried fastboot and Recovery to install nearly every ROM,Recovery and bootimage in this site but so far it was wild goose chase.
so I want to ask if I'm doing anything wrong or if you need any more information here, but please help me with this
wow I cant believe it, All these masterminds here and no answer to my distress signal??
Guys I am so in trouble and this is the only place I hoped to get answered.
I can provide you with more info if you need, but please dont say I'm on my own here.
all these years this forum was the last hope for me.
i know I'll get my answer here one day
You are not being very clear about what you have done,, but I'm assuming that you reinstalled the stock image that got you back to HC 3.01. Can you see if you are able to get OTA updates to get you back to at least 3.1, or 3.2 if possible?
If that's my problem forgive me please, Ive written that post in 3:00AM
for the sake of clearity I should add some info:
1. I even tried stock ROMs but you see I cant even flash them (Not from Recovery nor Fastboot) the steps seem successful : it opens the package,it installs them and it says everything was a success. But when I restart the device I see nothing has changed.
2. OTA updates are the same, they keep downloading and when the sysem reboots to recovery to install them it cant find them.
3. You dont believe it if I say even files and programs that I remove from device by my hand(Android OS) are back after the first restart.
And you see it's dark magic! everything from a file to a partition are back by one reboot. I dont know what should I call it but I havent seen anything like it on the whole Internet.
So seems like I should make a competition for the xda experts here
Can you publish it so all of them can see it?

Actually, I have seen someone with the same problem here on this forum, but I can't recall exactly what the solution was.
Can you describe, step by step what you are doing, what cable you are connecting to your pc with, etc?

That would be relief to know this could be solvable.
I will look more too.
As for your post I must say:
1. I plug the Xoom to the PC using the included cable
2. I start the xoom and start fastboot
3. on the PC system has the drivers and completely knows it
4. I start with SDK:
I. Fastboot oem unlock (Completing onscreen instructions and reboot device)
II. Fastboot mode again I use Fastboot flash boot boot.img
III. Continuing with Recovery,System
IV. Rebooting the device anything is the same.
My ROM is unchanged by the process and keeeeeeeeps giving the damn error of System process error please submit
5. And with ClockworkrecoveryMod I have the stock ROM on my sd card.
I. I choose install zip from sd card.
II.Choose the correct zip file and start flashing.
III. Choosing Wipe Data/Factory reset will take the device into a complete hang. unless I first use the mount page to mount the System/Data
IV. I reboot the device and ..... you know nothing changed.
so thats my story.
Still hope to find something about it.
Thanks...that was helpful. But now I want to know the following:
Were you rooted before the trouble started?
What did you do to recover?
If rooted, what version of CWM recovery did you have installed? Did you do a nanadroid backup? (I guess the answer is no, because you could have just restored with that).
What recovery are you accessing when trying to flash a zip file?
If you can answer these questions I will continue to wrack my brain trying to recall where I saw that thread.
Edit: please check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1370312
Some of what I said to him may help you .

Being rooted? -> Yes, The world is more beautiful with root!
to recover -> I followed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1097997 Shame it was Android 3.0
I use ClockworkRecovery 3.0.0.28 and I cant upgrade it cause of ... you know
And for your help I must say you are definitely the most caring person I know...
I'm off to check the provided link now
I was thinking of something that might be a reason.
I have this tiny problem:
When I go to CWM and choose Erase userData/Factory Reset Device Hangs

I was thinking of may be the userdata partition is corrupted and I gotta find a way to flash it completely.
Somehow I used Fastboot utility to do this and after saying Success, Nothing changed again.
Do you know any other way to physically do this job?
Hi,
got a questions to ask anyone response will help. This is my third Defy from Moto. First one screen went crazy after 9 mos. some part on screen stop working so i got replace then when i getting 2nd one found this website and of course everything look interesting who would want to stuck on 2.2.1 version right when you can get to 2.3.7 now. So I start reading, save all files that needed everything seem easy so i start w/o reading some parts lol...I had tmobile MB525 so I go with top one on list SBF page. Root with superoneclick 1.95 -> flash with RSD Lite 4.9 everything went fine....finished said reboot manually (that something haven't seen on any thread) it stuck on M logo with red circle won't let me do anything else (Power+ or Power-, remove battery all that) so read again found thread said fix with JORDN_U3_97.21.51 and process went fine up and running again but this time back to 2.1, simcard no signal, all app not work beside browser with wifi which assume can fix later. did this and that (don't even remember what else I did) but don't want to mess up again which end up the phone won't even turn beside white light while connect to PC so contact Moto that the phone ran out of battery put to charge over nite been 2 days and the phone never turn back on hope to get lucky which i told them while on the phone that i know the phone was a refurblish when I got it maybe something went wrong. Yup, they send me a replacement one again so this is my 3rd Defy in one year...
I'm not sure I still want to play with it anymore but like i said I don't want to stuck on 2.2.1. but there're lot of thing I don't understand and seem risky like the 2nd Init don't even have idea how to put it in the phone with apk file which i have a zip file w/o any .apk. PPl said just put in SD card it's already apk so I did but in the file manager still can't run the dang file. so everything stop....I got another file call defy_recovery-1218-0326-signed.apk and it work but don't think it does like 2nd Init.
And if still a go, which SBF you guy do, CM7.2 or CM9. I did wrote down all info in about phone this time just incase it will help anything in future.
Thnks in advance
I suggest you not to do a thing until you understand what you're doing - and it doesn't seem to be the case here. Keep reading.
