Good day, I have a Vibrant and live in Argentina ... not take the GPS satellites, I tested some of the methods of the forum but did not work, I have Bionix 1.2, I would like to tell me other methods to solve the problem, do not speak English and I find it difficult to search the forums ...
Also, I do not walk the 3G, as here used the band 850, no way to activate?
thank you very much.

But the gps is hit and miss without CDMA coverage. I think we are finally blaming it on subpar gps drivers.
hello ...
i am about to buy the 3g touch HTC... right now i have I-PHONE 3G .
well.. iphone gps is only working when at least gsm signal is avilable.
may be this is because it is a AGPS not GPS...
as far as i know AGPS need 2 gsm tower signal + sat to find your location.
or 1 tower+wifi network+sat to get your location..
while the GPS like the old nokia fones. need to get 3 sat to get your position..
at the end.. if u are in the desert where notheing there,,, would 3G touch HTC find your location.??
by the way iphone will not find your location where there is no gsm signal...
please help.

Thanks for the tip.Should i delete the post?
suggested solution in your other posting.
There's no need to double post.
I have a problem. I must have tried 10 different ROM's in the last few days and I am getting extremely frustrated.
I have an HD2 (Telstra Version) that works on the 850MHz band for HSDPA.
Everytime I am on HSDPA, the location services stop working... Weather panel, Bing, Google Maps, nothing can find my location based on cell id... GPS works fine...
When i switch the 3G off... location services work perfectly fine.
I have tried different ROM, Radio combinations, but nothing seems to work...
I have tried NRG ROM, Dutty's HG (preferred) and ML series, but to no avail.
Can anyone help me troubleshoot this problem further, or has anyone else encountered this... I would really like some help on this.
Thanks a lot.. beers/coffee on me...

It works!!!
Bless this forum and bless the users on it!!!
Finally i think I have a fix...
Hi guys. This seems to be a nice friendly informative thread. I too WAS having the data disconnect on my phone.
I have the 1.66 sea wwe official rom. I tried every radio from the telstra radio to the new 2.08.50.08_2 radio. To tell you the truth I didnt notice anything different between any of the radios. So I really can't say if one is better than the other. But I started changing settings.
If you are in a 3G (H) 850 area I suggest this.
settings/Wireless controls/phone/band
for Network Type choose WCDMA
for Band Frequency choose the third setting. On Telstra rom it will be GSM(1900)+UMTS(850) and on any other rom it will be GSM(1900+850) and select done.
Now this should stop most of that switching you see in the taskbar of your phone. But this isnt actually what is causing the freezing. It has to do with your sms messaging I believe. I went 2 weeks resetting my phone twice a day. Then I went here.
settings/menu/all settings/connections/advanced network/sms service
Right now GSM is working for me. 4 days and no internet freezing. I believe your incoming email might be coming in by sms also. Notice you only get a few lines and have to download the rest using data to see the whole email.
Others on the forum have turned off email and their phones quit freezing. So if GSM doesnt work for you try GPRS and so on. This is only my opinion but I have been very happy for the last 4 days. Thanks for letting me share this info.
If anyone is interested I have made a cab file which is un-installable that will change the Band Frequency menu to the menu from the Telstra rom. It is mostly cosmetic but at least you will know what bands you are selecting. Use at your own risk of course. I have installed, tested, and uninstalled it myself. No issues.
For the last 4 days with these settings I only see 3G while phone is setting idle. As soon as I connect to the internet it switches to H. I am very happy with my phone now. Thanks matthewf01 for starting this thread. I should have came here sooner.

Works with location services as well....

For everybody using HTC HD2 that is connected to T-mobile or simple mobile network, depending of the location in the USA, u will have a problem with poor reception. no mater what ROM or Radio u use the solution is very easy.
Just go to: Comm Manager( wireless controls)/Phone/Band and change the band from Auto to WCDMA, the phone has problems with going automatically from one to another
U have no idea how much research I had to do for this. I almost changed the phone because of this issue, after this it works perfectly. And don't worry u still use the GSM and 3G(WCDMA) even if its set like this.
Well I hope this will save a lot of people lot of time and nervs that I lost If it works for u too, advertise the solution on more places, because when I needed I couldn't find it anywhereeeeeeeee
No questions on this, because I don't follow this tread. Just leave comments if it works or not, and give alternative solutions. Thanks
Hi,
I'm currently doing my community service at a place where the network coverage is very bad and I often get the failure message "Data network not available." if I want to call someone. Sending messages does also not work and other people also can't call me.
To solve this I always have to disable the data connection and restart the phone once or twice.
The failiure message doesn't occure if I disable data connection and set the mobile network to GPRS-only.
I had the same issue with different modems and roms, these are:
JPY, JS5 and JS7 testet with the JPY AND JVE modem.
I can't tell you if this also happens with CM7 or JV1 because I haven't used them at work long enough.
I know that there have been a few threads about this, but there aren't any solutions for this problem, so maybe you have I magic trick for me or we can solve this together?
Btw: I have the international SGS (GT-i9000) and I'm currently running JS7-Rom with JVE-Modem and supercurio-kernel for ext4-filesystem and root access.
nice regards
mike
Ps.: Except for this issue, the phone is really great. I have it for two weeks and I like especially the samoled display .
Looks like your area doesn't have proper 3G Network.
I think we all get this, I know i do. What it really seems to mean is, you have no network coverage from your main provider (calls/text and data), but if you need to make an emergency call I have found another network I can use.
But i have a working normal GSM connection, only 3G/HSDPA is not available everywhere. And I should at least be able to make phone calls if I have GSM connection. (Sendig SMS should be available too of course.)
My old Nokia 5800 with Symbian worked everywhere without any problems.
thank you
nice regards

Does the phone work correctly well away from that location .
jje
check your APN entries make sure they are correct
Hi,
yes it works when I have a better network coverage without any issues .
APN-Entries are the right ones.
What I should tell you is that the 3G network coverage at the place where I work is really extremly bad. Sometimes when you walk a few meters you have a working 3G connection and sometimes not and because I only have to work there until the end of June it's not a big deal but I thought I post it here because it might be a bug in the modem.
nice regards

....you just answered your own question. Just use gsm/edge/2g.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
But why does the calling app use the 3G-Connection if GSM is enough?
Better quality?
thanks
