Just thought I'd share that I ran across an issue with Titanium Backup and CM7-based ROMs. On all the other ROMs I've tried, when I backed up an app with Titanium Backup, it would also include in that backup associated data. This doesn't seem to happen with CM7. On CM7, I installed an app to keep a running log of my blood pressure (had to promise the doctor to do this). I used TB to make a backup and also used the option to make a data backup on the SD card. Then I decided to go back to CELB Froyo 4.3. I put the TB backup and the SD card backup on my SD card and flashed CELB. When I used TB to restore the app, no data at all was present. When I tried to restore from the data backup on the SD card I got an error saying that "the database is corrupt" when I tried to run the app.
Sounds like an odd hiccup. I have gone back and forth several times and TB has been nothing but solid. All data was returned when I restored my apps. Worked moving TO Gingerbread, and going BACK to Froyo.
Sorry to hear your info is gone. Have you tried going back to the first configuration and trying the backup again? Did you nand?
both the CM7 roms for the eris are still RC versions of CM7, once we get a full stable release everything should be smooth
You're going from one OS version to another; one SQL version to another. No guarantee they handle the data the same way from one to another.
Just like any major software migration, backwards compatibility isn't always an out of the box, smooth transition.

The cm7 in gsb isn't even a RC. Just a nightly

Wow. Shed's YB Tom is using cm7 rc0 its not even out officially. The word nightly means that it gets updated more frequently, but bugs are present and that's were shed, Tazz, and kaos come in.

So I have a bunch of apps that I want to install, and I can't because (at least I think) I'm running CM6, and the apps are compatible with 2.1 or lower. For what it's worth, I haven't applied the OTA update yet.
Is there anything that can be done to fix this?
Titanium Backup
Not really sure what you mean. I didn't purchase them yet. Should I revert to a 2.1 build, buy the apps, back them up, reflash, then install them via titanium backup?
That is a pain in the *** but if it's the only way, I guess I'll give it a whirl.
Any other ideas?
I don't know about u but im having issues using titanium backup when im on froyo. For some reason some apps i backed up on 2.1 won't restore with 2.2 roms. I tried this with all versions of skyrider and cm6. Although that might just be the apps incompatability with froyo its happening with about 70% of my backups

That's what I had to do.

Plug in your SD card, and turn on SD card storage before you restore the apps.
It's because they are trying to install to your SD card even though you don't have a partition set up on your SD card.
If your SD card storage is turned on, they don't detect an sd card and install to the internal storage.
Happened to me with a bunch of my apps too.
Haven't had a problem restoring any apps with titanium backup donate version. Running sky raider 1.9 atm but have used 1.0, 1.7, 1.8 also without problems

Same here, used TB to restore all my apps on SkyRaider 1.9. The only app that didn't restore was Google Sky.

Plug in your USB cable, enable the USB connection, then download it from the market. It's a froyo bug with any app that tries to force itself to install onto your SD card. If the SD card isn't mounted, it will install to internal memory. Do the same thing with any other apps you find that download but won't install.

Cool, thanks. The only other problem I have is with NFL mobile. The app runs fine but when I try to watch the live stream, I get a network error.
I am currently running the latest auto-nootered version, 1.1 I think. I would like to upgrade to the stock version 1.2, but I don't want to lose any purchased content I have on the device. I have never attempted a restore to stock after auto-nooter. I am fine with not being rooted and not having access to the full market at this point, but just want to keep all my content safe from being wiped in the whole process. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
If you're referring to content purchased from B&N, it's a non-issue as you can always redownload for free.
If you're referring to Android Market purchases - if you lose Market access with the update you'll lose the ability to redownload and/or update those apps.
Back up your data, etc to an external SD card and optionally a computer too. Later, restore what needs to be. I stopped running from the internal long ago because CM7 runs so well (now since that wasn't always the case) from my external Sandisk SD 16GB class 4. This way, I never need to root the internal and I get updates as they come while benefiting from it's dual booting nature. Much less hassle this way. Not sure what the advantage is the other way around anymore. The Nookdevs site outlines step by step how to easily go back to stock. That info has probably even been reposted here.
I went the same route as the above guy. I've never Rooted my Stock and have been running Froyo and now CM7 from a 4gb Class 6 SD(It's what I had lying around) and it's worked really well.
Strangly even though I've never rooted I couldn't get it to update and had to Reset my Nook anyway, but since my CM7 is on my SD I didn't have to reinstall anything. All my B&N stuff just synced back after I updated. Although I had to manually tap Download on alot of them.
I also Recommend Nookdevs. Here are some links:

I am currently running dualboot on emmc. Thinking of going back to stock and moving a backup of cm7 onto SD and running it form there.
Any tutorial to point me on how to take a backup made in clockwork to rnning that on sd?

This is just me thinking on the Fly but if you just make a CWR Backup and then use the "CM7 Size Agnostic SD Image" from the Dev forums, it should flash it to the SD instead but I'm not positive. Won't hurt to try though.

would it matter that my clcokwork backup has th the boot partition backed up which includes the various boot files for both sets of partitions?

I think you really just need your system and data partitions. Flash it using the previously mentioned dev thread. Then move your EMMC files to the sdcard partition.

I am currently running CM7 on a 16GB class 2 sandisk SD card. I get some laggy response times with apps and my broswer so I am wanting to move to an internal memory install. What is the easiest way to do this? I have a ton of apps installed. Am I best of just doing a titanium backup, then starting from scratch with a newer nightly build and then install titanium and restore my apps? Or, is there a better way? Thanks!
I'm considering the same move, so I'll be watching this thread for responses.
Thanks for asking it.

My limited experience is start from scratch..I have been back and forth 2-3 times and found its best to start from scratch. I used Titanium backup and restored my apps each time and it works great. I am currently on SD and will go back to internal . i kept SD because of BN reader is so much better as native app vs android version. But now I don't use reader as much....
Here's one thread on installing to EMMC
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1030227
THere's another link about this also but can't find right now.
I did this recently, all i did was titanium backup to be safe, then rebooted and held the "n" to bring it into clockwork recovery, reflashed CM7 and restored my backup, it was fairly painless except having to fix my widgets.
You might be able to make a nandroid and flash it to the EMMC all in one session, but i wouldn't count on it.
Ok so I don't know if anyone else has had issues with their SD card since the update but I've been constantly having problems. When looking at my pictures i'm always gettin the "sd card not present." And I think it has been causing issues with me downloading and updating apps too. Anyone else been having these troubles and if so...any solutions? Please and thank you for any help.
Since my phone is rooted... and I have root explorer...
I know one of the problems you're having is the card is mounting itself read-only... no idea why...
Though since I figured that out... I have other problems...
I wish I could go back to eclair... it worked solo much better on this piece of ****
Sent from my MB508 using Tapatalk
Hmm, yea that's weird. I don't know why it does that either. But I agree...Eclair ran so much smoother. And I could install more apps on my phone...this thing has indeed been trash....
I had some similar errors, they seemed to be related to link2sd and the upgrade. I completely formatted my sd card, remade the link2sd partition, and reinstalled froyo directly instead of updating from eclair, and haven't had any problems since.
Reinstalled directly from where?? How???
Using RSD Lite, I flashed the Froyo sbf. Specifically, it's SAGE_U3_3.4.2-159.17_SecATT_SIGNATT_USASAGE02B25ND0ATTNA02E.0R_SAGEFRATT_P011_HWp4_1FF.sbf. There are a few links to it here on the forums, it's a fresh install of froyo instead of upgrading from eclair, you start with much more free space to work with. Updating the system apps will eat into it pretty quickly, but if you use Titanium Backup to cook the updates into the rom you can keep quite a bit of free space.
Been thru 3 sbf flashes... with link2sd... with apps2sd...
It still ****ing locks... it still ****ing freezes...
I hate being so close to new phones coming out...
Else I'd throw this thing thru the wall

Yea I've flashed the sbf and i'm still having issues...

How do you use Titanium Backup to "cook the updates into the rom?"
You'll need a registered version of Titanium Backup. If you haven't bought it already I really recommend it, it's the single most useful app I've had on android. Go into the backup/restore tab, scroll down and find the app that you updated. It'll be listed in red, meaning it's a /system app, but it'll say (update) next to it, indicating the update is on the internal storage. Long press it, and there will be an option that says something like "move update to /system" or similar. Press that, and it will remove the original version from /system, and move the update in it's place.
You can also move apps to /system this way, long press any normal app and there's an option for "convert to system app" that will move it over. I deleted a lot of the bloat apps, as well as all of the default ringtones, and had plenty of free space to move some of my most-used apps over to /system.
Right now, I have 26.1 MB free in /system, 60.5 MB free in /data, and something like 300 MB worth of apps on my second SD card partition.
Ok I'll try that using Titanium....did you delete the ringtones using Titanium or Root Explorer?
Man this crap somehow made my data worse...I deleted some apps and moved some to system and now I'm almost out of storage....Integrating the update into Rom screwed me up!
Hi All,
I've recently installed the new Jelly Bean Miui update and have come across a few issues...
I backed everything up with Titanium Pro, flashed and restored but had a fair few programs crashing (mainly system ones!)
After a bit of cache clearing I had it down to Google apps which I assume I need to stop restoring when flashing as the JB ones are newer than the ICS versions I'm restoring (obvious really lol - edit - gapps files?)
Anyway...I'll do it all again but are there any further hints?
My external SD card is now also corrupt so should i have unmounted it before doing all this?
Edit - it seems version 2 will fix most of my issues....any idea on the SD card? Is there a way to ensure it doesn't corrupt other than unmounting and removing?
Ummm where did you get this at?
