Manufacturer: Samsung
Display: 4 inch, calibrated Super AMOLED+
Processor: 1.2 Ghz Dual-Core
Camera: Doesnt matter, I think the Nexus S's camera is good enough
Round corners, curves. Contour display.
1 GB RAM
16/32 GB ROM
SD CARD SLOT
4G
Build material: Plastic, but a little more grip at the back. Black.
The reason I am going for Samsung again, is because I like their hardware. As you can see the device I want looks like an upgraded Nexus S. I think the design of the Nexus S is fantastic, but a little more grip would do it for the back. Also, Super AMOLED+ got rid of many of the disadvantages Super AMOLED had, like PenTile. Only thing that bothers me is that the colors are a little bit too oversaturated. That is why I like LCD better, for now.
But it would be awesome if there was a way to calibrate the colors, so that you can choose normal (like Motorola Droid), oversaturated (like Galaxy S) or custom. That, with the advantages of LED, and no stupid PenTile, would be an awesome display!
Realistically, the next Nexus would probably be something like this:
Manufacturer: Motorola or HTC
Display: 4-4.3" 960x640 to 1280x720 resolution (either sLCD or sAMOLED)
CPU: OMAP4 or Tegra 2 for Motorola, QSD8672 for HTC (all dual core)
GPU: SGX540 for OMAP4, Adreno 220 for HTC
RAM: 1GB LPDDR-266
Storage: 16/32GB plus microSD
Camera: 8MP with flash
Misc: Dual mic, FFC, 4G, NFC, Wireless b/g/n, 1600mAh battery, ~9mm thick
What would I like to see (while still within the realm of reality)?
Manufacturer: HTC
Display: 4-inch 1280x720 (any sort of OLED, Sony is working on some nice displays)
CPU: Qualcomm MSM8960 (1.5GHz dual core)
GPU: Adreno 300 (200m+ tri/s)
RAM: 1GB LPDDR-400
Storage: 16GB (to keep costs down) plus mircoSD
Camera: 12MP microlense zooming with dual LED flash
Misc: Dual mic, FFC, 4G, NFC, Wireless b/g/n, 1800mAh battery, ~9mm thick
guys, what about a nexus from nokia?
now for me that would be a dream come true. the best combo of hardweare and softweare. it could be a great hit. i would love for something like this ro become a reality.
anybody agree with me on that one, or am i just a lone dreamer?...
on the other topic it was already said to be a joke only when he mentioned
but Nokia is indeed looking to partner up with other OS markers
but there are no solid confirmation if they are going one way or another
they basically opened the doors and are inviting prospective OS partners for their phones
don't be surprised to see a Nokia running Apple's iOS
but chances seems to be Nokia seems to be favoring Microsoft
however Android has the market dominance in the long run, it'll not be smart for Nokia to not choose Android and partner with Google
if they do, we'll most likely see "Nexus N"
I just hope the Nexus 2 will be made by a company with better outer casing

I guess so but there really is nothing bad with the shell of the NS. It only feels cheap because its glossy plastic. I've dropped my phone quite a few times and its never even chipped. I have no scratches on the screen or the back. I'm quite happy with the SNS and my only hope for the next Nexus is just that it be better than anything else on the market

*ahem* in light of recent news:
http://www.mobilecrunch.com/2011/02/11/hitachi-to-offer-improved-smartphone-lcd-display/
it seems like, soon, we'd have the same number of pixels on our phone display as a 55" full HD TV
You mean "Nexus 3", as Nexus 2 = Nexus S
However...
Tegra 2/Tegra 3
Screen = or < 4'' (> 4'' is too big), 3D, Super AMOLED/AMOLED Plus
TV out
Inductive (cable less) charging
Next Pure Google phone:
Manufacturer: HTC/Samsung/Sony
Display: 4.2" OLED type display (better than samoled plus)
CPU: Dual-Core multi processing/multiflow (better than Tegra II etc.)
GPU:AMD (power) or Intel (battery friendly) new mobile graphic processor
Camera: 8 MP C-Z camera with dLED flash
Design: Curved with 'butt'
Battery: 2700 mAH
RAM: 1,5 GB
ROM: 32 GB
SD CARD SLOT up to 64GB
Network: No matter I buy from shop
Other:USB charging & V/A processing.
New kind:screen to border, kinetic charging, pseudofuel battery.
so if we actually do get an EVO 2 this summer, what more can we get on this phone to make it either a industry changer or a big hit.
i say
- remove the touch buttons we already have and expand the screen vertically while not having to enlarge the actual phone.. that way we are ready for honeycomb (or what ever the phone version OS is gonna be called)
- move the audio jack to the bottom of the phone
- way better battery life (even if it means thickening
the phone for a bigger battery)
- better hd video recording
- more internal memory and ram
- better display
- gorilla glass
last but not least
- quad processor ( might be exagerating dual should
be fine)
and maybe a few more things i can't think of right now
what do u guys want on this phone
s
ps: im broke but wouldn't mind paying $300 on a new contract for these upgrades.
ent from my EvoKnevil
Same form as the EVO, maybe closer to the Thunderbolt.
dual core
better GPU (MUCH BETTER)
at least a gig of RAM
a few gigs of ROM
4.3" Super LCD (please god don't let it have an amoled!)
higher res
That's it, I'm easy to please.
I'd love to have a SLCD, Gorilla Glass and either the headphone jack on the bottom or USB port on the top (just as long as they're together, I thought that was a great idea on the Galaxy S) but I don't agree with getting rid of the buttons. Even when they merge the tablet and phone branches of Android, I doubt the phone version will have the same virtual buttons. I could be wrong but I just don't see it happening.
We should hear something from HTC either at MWC next week (Feb 14-17) or CTIA next month (Mar 22-24). The EVO was officially announced during CTIA last year so that could be when Sprint announces its successor.
move the Micro sd card location
1. the new snapdragons
2. dual core
3. honeycomb AOSP
4. 5 inch SLCD/SAMOLED
5. full hdmi out
6. the laptop type dock (like the atrix)
7. 32gb inbuilt memory as well as sd card support
8. NFC
Sort of like dell streak, evo, and atrix combined into one big package, oh and with honeycomb :x

+1 for sure.
Even just one of these
-better battery life
-dual core
-put the usb port on the side of the phone maybe about 1/4 from the top or in the middle so that when you hold it horizontally the cable isn't between your fingers. Grrr, I hate that
-Dual-core processor for sure, maybe 1GHz but with the same performance as the Shift's.
-Honestly, the form factor of the Evo is quite well done, wouldn't change much, unless it's a bit thicker for a better battery.
-A better way to access the microSD.
-More internal ROM/RAM.
-NFC for sure, it's going to take over the world...
-(if there's room) a full-sized HDMI-out adapter.
-(and by extension) the GPU to support such a thing.
-Rooting without voiding warranties, plus RA Recovery manager built-in by default. [/sarcasm] (like that'll ever happen)
- Bigger battery (like twice capacity)
- GPU
- Amoled screen and gorilla glass
- same size screen or bigger ( I could never go smaller now)
- keep the kickstand
Sent from my device.
-NFC
-Noice Cancelling Mic
-Better Speaker
-Better Placement of camera
-Fix light leakage issues
-Higher Mega Pixel FFC
-Slide out Keyboard
-Unibody design

For those times when one is not enough.
What would I like?
1) 32 or 22 nm multicore low energy processor.
2) dual 4.5" screens - sliding a thin secondary screen.
from under the main. For those times when one is not enough.
3) ability to piggy back a battery pack. For those times when one is
not enough.
4) full bridge between wifi and service provider (Sprint). For those
times when one is not enough
OK imagine a pocket super "connector".
Lots of good ideas here.
Unfortunately I won't be getting an Evo 2 this summer (at a discounted price anyways) because Sprint downgraded my yearly upgrade perk.
That being the case, anyone want to guess what the Evo 3 (hopefully with a June 2012 release date) will be like?
Sent from my Evo using XDA App
moar gggggs!
how about a high quality build.
All these suggestions are great. In addition it would be great to have a kickstand that works for portrait and landscape imo.
Dual Core
3D screen
12 Mega pixel camera
3 mega pixel front camera
32 GB SD card
Projector capabilities
same size, but more pixels
dual core...
gpu, or something for better graphics
better hardware and software wich can make the battery last way longer
keep the 8m pixels in the rear camera, shake stability, etc
the evo has so much, why not add the ability to act as a desktop and just connect it to a screen, mouse and keyboard

I like the above, but also:
- better camera quality (not more megapixels, we have plenty); we need better image processing (software) and/or better sensor, cause what we have now sucks; it gives 8 megapixels a bad rep
- better GPU
- SLCD screen at higher resolution
- better battery management (i think 1500 is big enough, we can get it to work leaner)
- dual core processor
- ports (headphone/usb) on same side as others have said
- don't care about HDMI out, we'll be streaming wirelessly soon enough
I really think that all phones these days of superphone caliber should have noise cancelling mics, it's huge for talk quality.
my 0.02
The only things I care about are as follows.
1. Battery life (if this comes about by a low power consumption dual core, that's fine)
2. A better camera with a lens that isn't exposed.
By better camera, I don't mean more megapixels. Megapixels don't mean jack if the quality sucks. We have an 8mp camera that takes noisy, nasty pictures. I want a camera at least on par with the iPhone. I don't care if it's 3.2mp, make the quality better and THEN worry about MP.
Same form factor, or perhaps 4.5" max SLCD screen w/ gorilla glass
Tegra 2
HDMI out - mirror mode
Better battery life (I'd be happy with 50% better life)
Dual external speakers like Touch Pro 2
Dual mics for noise cancellation
Higher quality construction (metal body would be nice)
Stop the megapixel race with cam..... improve IQ by implementing better image sensor, overhaul image capture software. Make flash usuable in low light situations by increasing shutter speed and decreasing overexposed photos.
Better audio output via 3.5mm jack *lounder, cleaner*
Make internal FM radio antenna which can be used without headphones
NFC
More memory and support for SDXC.
Please say something reasonable and not a 16core
4"-4.1" SLCD screen

A drop of Chuck Norris's semen was placed on the IPhone. We now have the Htc Evo.
The Evo, maybe with the touch buttons a little lower and thus the screen a little bigger to fill that area.
With a dual-core tegra 2 and the fastest GPU out there with 16 GB ROM, 2 GB RAM.
Maybe a bigger battery if possible too.
Couldn't imagine a better phone.

Evo Successor:
-Same screen but better resolution and maybe Gorilla Glass
-NFC
-DLNA
-Louder Speaker
-Same touch buttons but make them auto rotate so when phone is in landscape they turn. I saw this feature on another phone that's coming out
-Fix the camera placement
-Noice cancelling mic
-Full HDMI capabilities OTB
-Unibody Aluminum/Plastic Design
-Kickstand in the middle
-Sexier form factor instead of the standard squared look
-Better GPU
-More RAM
-More internal HD space
-Dual Core
-Better FFC resolution

Whatever it takes to make everyone happy so I don't have to read thread after thread after thread after thread after thread of people *****ing and moaning and whining and crying about why this phone sux and why that phone sux and why some futuristic yet to be developed technology isn't already in people's phones they bought last year. I guess it'd need to be equipped with a time machine so the phone can go into the future and equip itself with new technologies and then come back to present day. Oh, and it'd have to be sold by a brand new carrier since all US carriers suck so bad... and it'd need to be free.

Just ordered my nexus 7 and supposed to be here on Monday.

I wanted to ask you all and see your ideas.
So if you had any budget, how would you customize your own tablet?

Processor?
Memory?
Any options such as size, ports, camera, etc.
Hope everyone has some interesting ideas!

I am always htc fan, but nowadays, for a flasholic like me, it's a pain in the a** to flash boot.img separately using PC every single time i want to flash a new ROM.

I am always htc fan, but nowadays, for a flasholic like me, it's a pain in the a** to flash boot.img separately using PC every single time i want to flash a new ROM.
neXus family is my next choice. But not this year, my Sensation seems fine for now.

Don't worry didn't you read XDA news? Devs just release S-OFF for HTC DNA, X, X+ and HTC One is not far from getting S-OFF.

HTC One is releasing worldwide just like Sensation so more chances to get S-OFF from devs around the world. DNA only release to Verizon US and they have S-OFF already.

100$ is too much, if it was 50$ that's acceptable, 100$ is too much considering the price of SD cards.
A bit concerned about the metal case and its effect on call signal strength. If Apple can ****-up with their phone then it's almost a dead-cert for HTC with a new technology.
I think I will wait for the HTC One+ being released in June 2013. For early adopters I believe you will be receiving a "free" rubber glove

Have you not read anything about the phone? Look at the back of the case... see those strips on the back? Those are for the antenna and NFC functions...
