Hey everyone,
i've been tryong to figure out if there is a way to place pdf, doc, xls and etc files into a Folder?
Can this be done? As i'm trying to put all work related files into a folder for simple retrieval when I need them.
Thanks for any replies!
Galaxy Tab / xda-app
Yes, using the My files application, do the following:
Create a new folder (select setting and the icon is listed)
now click the manage files button on the bottom
select all the files you want to move.
select the copy button and then navigate to the folder
Select paste.
go back to the original location and reselect the files and select Delete.
Done...
Hope this helps...
Rjansen110,
thanks for that

Astro allows shortcuts to file folders
hi,
this method is for stock rom with thinkfree office installed and using touchwiz launcher.
1. from homescreen, press menu - add - folders
2. choose recent documents from the pop-up menu (in here you can see all your recent documents opened thru thinkfree office.
hope this helps.
regards,
mike

hi Guys.
i have a problem here with the herald and the quick App select in the HTC HOME.
i can only select apps that are on the programlist. But i have apps on the storage card. i want the exe files to appear in the programlist so i can select them in the quick app menĂ¼ in HTC HOME.
i tried to make a shortcut from the apps exe an paste it in windows... in windows/programs but it doesnt work.
do i have to edit the registry ? i dont know what i have to add in there.
please help
You need to paste the shortcuts in windows/Start Menu/Prorgrams and whichever folder you want to drop it in or just drop it in that folder and it will work ^_^.
It worked !
THANK YOU !
I installed Sashimi some time ago but as it was a bit too complex for me I deleted it. However in the program list it still shows. How can I delete it from there?
thanks
The icons for your programs are held inside the windows folder on your internal memory, you need to open up file explorer on your phone and go to \Windows\Start Menu this folder is the icons that are on your start menu and the icons on your programs page are in
\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\
just delete the uninstalled applications icon from this folder and its done, you can also organise your icons into easy folders like "Internet, Media, Tools, GPS...etc".
Hope this helps you

A bit off topic, but as jab1a said above this is very useful as you can add Category Folders in Start Menu. Name them like: Web, Travel, Utilities, System and Media. Copy relevant shortcuts from you 'Programs' folder in your 'Start Menu' folder to each of these new folders.
You will need to use a 3rd party file explorer to unhide system files and rom files to see the pre-installed icons to copy them to your folders. These icons are '.ink' shortcuts. Also copy the entire 'Games' folder and 'Office' folder from your 'Programs' folder direct to your 'Start Menu' folder.
Finally uncheck all checked boxes in Menus in Settings page. This will allow all 9 folders to show in your Start menu on your home page, where you can access specific apps much quicker. Remember each time you install or remove a program/game, you have to either copy the new 'ink' icon to your category folder or delete it.
thanks a lot - very useful
Thanks for the help with that!
I had the same problem with a game and the icon was still there and annoying me!!
Thanks very much!
Thanks from me too, had three dead icons i had tried over and over again to get rid off! This worked a treat!
Is it possible to make a shortcut to the Games Folder (or any other folder) as a Quick Launch button on the today screen? I have several games and it would take up too many Quick Launch slots so just using one slot to the Games folder would be great.
/Tubgirl
You'll have to create the shortcut yourself using the file explorer (copy and 'paste shortcut'). Once you have the shortcut placed in the /Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder you should be able to add it to the home screen.
In case you didn't know the Games folder itself is located in /Windows/Start Menu/Programs
Thank you profahmad. I'm new to Windows Mobile so I'm still learning.
I tried your tip and now I could add the Games folder to the quick links. Unfortunately I thought it would open upp the Games folder like it looks in the Start menu. Instead Resco Eplorer opened the folder. Well well... no biggie.
Interestingly enough when I tried the same thing with another folder called "Shoutcast" on my storage card (contains pls-files to Internet Radio channels) I could add the folder to the Quicklink but I couldn't open it.
Anyway... thanks for the help
I don't think it's possible to force the Start menu itself to open a particular folder directly. You'll have to stick with the default file-explorer you have associated with the folders, in your case that would be the Resco Explorer.

That's strange, did you create a shotcut and paste it into /Windows/Programs? I just tested it with a folder on my storage card and it works perfectly. You may have copied and pasted (and not pasted a shortcut) by accident. Try it again.

Aah you're right, Start Menu can't be forced so that's the best we can do at the moment.
Hello,
I've already read some threads about this issue, but all I see is this:
"Browse to /windows/start menu/programs and move the shortcuts".
I'm using the latest Topix release and there are already some folders with apps in them, so I just wanna do the same, while using the rom's default folders.
Is that even possible ?
Thanks in advance!
~sekibun
It is possible and it's easy. You will need to use your file explorer. I'll tell you what I did. I'm using the Resco Explorer so I had to make sure that I could see all files and folders including hidden and ROM by unchecking menu options to hide them. Then I justnavigateted to windows/start menu/programs and cut/pasted shortcuts to folders. You'll have to repeat the process for any newly installed applications later on. Hope that helps
easiest way to do this is connect your phone using active sync and simply browse to that directory and swap things around to your hearts content. If you want to change icon files use JWMD icon changer.
Thank you people, will try both and post back !

If you can't see windows folder you need to go to start - folder optons - view - uncheck "hide all operating system files (recommended)" in Vista.
I love this app and have intalled it onto my storage card in a folder where i keep all my .cab files, my only prblem is that i cant see it when i look for it in my programs, i,m wanting to put it as a quick link but cant? The only way i can run it is by going into file explorer and then storage card and then i the app folder i created and running it from there, where am i going wrong guys? help needed cheers
simple
go in file explorer to the file on sd card. tap and hold. click copy from the menu that appears.
open device\windows\start menu\programs and select there
(bottom screen) menu > edit > paste shortcut
rename the shortcut if you like
now you can select the file from start programs or assign it to a quick-link button.
BRILLIANT!!!
