That's because Google Copy Protected DRM does not recognize any of the leaked 2.2 stock ROMs, so any apps (both free and paid) which uses the DRM will not be available in the market. The workaround is to change the ROM fingerprint to one that Google approves. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848778
Custom ROM's will likely incorporate the above fix so you can get all your apps.

If you use a custom rom on dk28 then all the apps show up in the market. I think that is what you mean. If nit disregard.

Got Froyo 2.2 rooted how to del new unwanted apps

OK...I am on stock 2.2 with the ClockworkMod manually added...I am a newbie but read this much to get it all working...
How do I get rid of the apps like
-My Verizon Mobile
-Skype
-VZ Nav
-QuickOffice
-etc, etc
I do not want them running in the background and AutoStart App is not stopping them on 2.2. Help any advice, detailed steps from the pros??
there is an app in the marketplace called "system app remover"
only works with root access. I can't verify that it works, but that is what it claims to do
If I were you I'd just flash rmk40's Virtuous ROM. Its main principle is stock froyo w/ sense, with unwanted bloatware reversibly removed. Rom Manager and Titanium Backup will be useful to you if you go this route. Check it out and see what you think...

If your wife's phone is rooted and you install this, you will lose root. If that's not a big deal, then go for it.
does the update delete everything on your phone?
if so, how do u backup/restore stuff? and how do you get the apps/games u purchased back without rebuying?
any other issues to know about? does the update reinstall att bloatware? do i have to put it back to stock to update?
i rooted to uninstall that stuff and to be able to install 3rd party apps, but never used a custom rom.
i'd really like to be able to use my 8gb sd card for apps since i have no space, so i am thinking of updating now and rooting later once it's available.

If you are already rooted, then you should seriously look at and consider Liberated Aria FR008. This ROM is based off the European Gratia complete with HTC Sense and does not have any AT&T bloatware, has an OC kernel and also used Dark Tremors Apps2SD which is much better than the native Froyo App2SD feature. If you like HTC Sense and want the Froyo 2.2 features, then this is the ROM to use.
If you choose to install the AT&T Froyo 2.2 update, it will wipe your phone clean and you will loose root and you will be stuck with all of the AT&T bloatware with no way to remove it.
For apps that you bought and paid for in the Market, these apps are tied to your gmail account, so if you reset your phone, you can reload the apps from the Market without any additional charges.

where do i get this rom, instructions? what about the cm7 2.3 version?
will using roms delete anything currently on my phone?
also, the wife has an aria. i guess she should just use the regular update, all she probably cares about are her contacts. how would she back these up?

Yes, flashing a new ROM will usually delete anything currently on your phone. If you are rooted, You can use "My Backup Root" to save your apps and settings, text messages and phone log and then restore them after you flash a new ROM.
Here is the official thread about CM 7 RC1:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=956223
Here is where you can download CM 7 RC1 and the nightly updates. Starting with Nightly 11 the code base is now Android 2.3.3.

i was waiting for this official 2.2 update for some reason, but now i realize i shoulda just used a rom. so i can backup with myroot (which i already have), but i'll have to reinstall the app before i can restore? reinstalling wont overwrite the backup folders on my sd card will it?

Yes, if you backup with myroot, you have to reinstall myroot from the Market and then you can restore the backup. Flashing a new ROM will not wipe anything on your SD card.
For contacts you can export them to your SD card or sync them with your Gmail account. If you export them to your SIM card, the CM 6/7 ROMs cannot read them off the SIM card.
thanks

CM 7 is based on Android Open Source Project code. It is almost as pure Android as you can get UI and interface wise. You can still customize the UI with widgets and such, especially if you buy some from the Market. So bottom line is with CM 7 you can customize the phone however you like.
HTC Sense is the UI that is built into the stock Aria and now the AT&T Froyo update. That UI uses special widgets developed by HTC to enhance the user experience and these widgets only run on an HTC Sense ROM. Will you miss Sense? It's hard to say. It's really a personal preference.

i dont think i'll miss it after reading some more on it.
so do i have to start off with the original update-cm-7.0.0-RC1-Liberty-signed.zip
then update to a nightly, or can i just start off with the most recent nightly? wasn't sure since they are about the same MB size.
also, what about this app2sd dark tremor thing. do i need that? why is it better than the regular app2sd?

You can just flash the latest CM 7 nightly, but you need to follow the installation steps listed in the CM 7 RC1 thread first (i.e. format system, format data, format cache, etc.).
DT Apps2SD isn't as big of deal if you are going to run CM 7 IMO. If you were going to use the Liberated FR008 Sense ROM I would recommend it because it does a better job than the Froyo 2.2 APP2SD.

LOL of course it is possible, root your 2.1 rom, copy all from System/ app folder in your SD Card, install Android 2.2/2.3 and install the apps from original rom , There you go, original SE apps

Some of the apps will run without modifications like Tower Bloxx.
what about track id? i'd love to see this app on GB
Many stock apps need SE framework to run,i also like that walkman app, anyone can tell us how to modefiy these apps to work with 2.2/2.3?
the original messages, trackid are the ones i'm keen to have on 2.2 or 2.3

You can use Soundhound instead of track ID

Indeed. Soundhound works great (H)
Even works with just humming. Everybody in my house are like crazy finding out songs that didn't know the name.
I would need Roadsync because I consider it already payed with the phone.
If I want to use any other exchange mail application I would need to pay it.
is there a way to copy it to custom ROM's
can somebody try it?
thank you!

[Q] Plain & Pure Gingerbread for Galaxy S

Hi All,
I tried to find a topic for this but couldnt. if you have seen this thing being discussed before, please just guide me there.
Ok, here's the thing:
I have a samsung Galaxy S I9000. I want to flash a Pure, Unmodified, untouched, plain gingerbread onto it. i dont want any of the samsung applications, modifications or anything by samsung. the same concept that a Motorola Xoom is using. no additional modification to whatever google gave out.
1. It it possible?
2. If so, which ROM will do the trick?
Many thanks in Advance

I guess because it wont be AOSP (kinda not even close)? Also cuz samsung does not just install bloatware(amongst other stuffs), but also unistalls/disables some functionality?
Just me guessing there
Touchwiz is 'hidden' deeper in system too. And the CM7-crew wants to get rid of this and just use stock-Android and CM7-features. In ny opininon it's the best ROM of all.

Installing a non-stock OS such as this means you must install apps for operating the Camera, Video, Email, and even for accessing the external SD card, correct?

is there a way to remove sense from the sense roms?

I'm using Synergy ROM non-god, but I dont use sense. Is there a way to remove it?
Is there another rom based on the sprint gingerbread release that does not have sense?
You mean you want to remove the sense launcher? I don't believe its possible since everything ties together. It doesn't take up ram tho
Deck's + SZ + SuperCharger script + ViperMod script.
What I do when I want a Senseless ROM, I sign into Google account, download a LauncherPro and Root Explorer. I go into system/apps, delete Sense stuff there. Navigate to data/data, delete the entire data/data folder and reboot. It deletes all of the app data and all of the Sense stuff I deleted is now gone, no force closes or anything because I deleted the data/data folder. Then I go to data/apps and delete stuff i don't need. Delete data/data folder, reboot. Go to Settings-Manage Applications-files deleted in data/apps will be blacked out. Click on it and uninstall there. Delete data/data again, reboot.
Total overkill, but it always works for me. No Force Closes or crashes or things not working.

The easiest way is to change launchers. Pick one: ADW Launcher, Go Launcher, Launcher Pro, etc.
Download from market, press home key, change to new launcher.
This won't remove anything, but changes from the Sense Rosie launcher and all of it's widgets to a different launcher.
Otherwise, your other options are using an AOSP ROM or finding a "senseless" ROM in development section. Senseless ROMs are basically (I'm way over simplifying) a ROM without the Rosie launcher and another launcher added in its place.

If you like the pure google experience like the nexus S I suggest OMGB or OMFGB. That was the first rom I flashed when I rooted my EVO. The problem is I got so used to the way sense ties all of my social stuff together. If I coule run stock/pure gingerbread with sense nuances like the social linking I would be so happy.

flash the synergy roms located in this thread ....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092221
Sense is removed and either go launcher or launcher pro has been installed.
There are a few other ROMS in there too, and a few more added in the latter posts in that thread. (mikG2.45 for instance)
I would suggest using (or at least trying) Caulkulin's rom out, its pretty speedy, and pair it up with the most recent freedom kernel.
I'm looking to upgrade my sense to 3.0 without having to flash, but I suspect thats a no go.

True, true. It isn't "Senseless" in the purest of senses. But it gets rid of a lot of battery draw and stupid apks that I don't want or need. And wiping data/data prevents a lot of force closes and dead ends, so it keeps it stable. I just like using a Sense-based ROM because of how freaking stable it is. I always switch from AOSP back to Sense...
