Im posting this here because I'm not entirely sure whether to post this in the App Dev forum, but, is there any way to get the FM radio working in Fission? I also would like to know why it doesn't work, problems with the files? The firmware? Incompatible kernel? Im running Fission 2.5.7, and would like to get the fm radio working to show off...
Powered by Fission, from my DROID 2
You can get it from fission rom manager. Download moto music app, its included. . . Dunno about the standalone app, but I'm sure the rom supports it since moto music has it

The Multimedia Pack- Moto- Droid 2? Because, I installed that, and didn't notice any difference
Powered by Fission
I have to say, I upgraded to Liberty 1.5, and now the radio problem is gone!
Liberty has fm radio by itself from liberty toolbox (get it on the market)
The moto modded one, not stock moto. There are two diff... its only in latest version of FRM. The very first entry under addon.
Once its installed select radio for fm and online radio.

There's a thread under D2 themes and apps on how to push it with adb... should work with any rom.

Simply delete app and replace with miui fmradio.apk. Works a treat.

Can you post the MIUI radio app here?
This is from MIUI final v2, I haven't tried it.
Nope. Same issue as Kahls and fjfalcons patch, FM radio. Works for first install and then when you close it out and reopen, it goes back to being too loud on lowest setting.
How about the FM apk from the new Korean Rom?
The difference between the two ROMs is primarily in the framework. The A853 doesn't have an FM radio, and Dexter's 1.3 uses A853's framework (same story with the gallery key). The new ROM uses Motoroi's framework. I don't know enough about Android app development to know if there's a different mechanism available to tie into the volume keys outside of the framework. The advantage of the Motoroi framework is that everything our phone does is also done by Motoroi. I think it does more actually, Motoroi has a TV tuner--I don't think there are any features on Milestone XT720 that are missing on Motoroi XT720, but there are many that are missing on A853. The biggest problem I remember about the XT720 ROM was that the sensors weren't working.
which sensors you are talking. about. suggest installing elixir app and enable the sensors.
I installed the new Liberty Rom and I may now keep my old work-horse Verizon Droid X for a while longer. The ROM did not contain the FM tuner that was originally on the phone. Is there a way to reinstall the tuner from Motorola or is there a decent third party app. I have seen the Spirit FM app but that does not appear to work well at all. Any help would be appreciated.
I THINK, and may be wrong...as I haven't been on liberty since way back in the beta gingerbread builds...before Liberty 3.
But I think there should be the option to install the FM Radio via "Liberty Customizer" in the settings window?
That customization must have been stripped out of releases 1.0 and 2.0. Anyone know how to activate the tuner.
Thanks for this

Jubakuba is correct. Its in Liberty Customizer under "addons". I'm running L3v2.0 and installed it just fine. However, I also have the donate version of the customizer so it may not be in the one that comes free with the ROM.
I'm still using Fission 2.6.7 on my Droid X. This ROM is still perfect for me... awesome battery life and pretty great stability for a 14 month old phone. I'm using ICS keyboard and Music apps with no issues.
So I don't want to mess around with changing ROMs.
My only issue is really that my Market is still on version 2.2.7. Any way to update?
I will see if I can pull the latest market or post a link to help you out =D

You can download Gapps from here:
http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
Then just unzip it, find Vending.apk, an install it.

hmm, thanks for going to the trouble to post that.
whenever I try to install though, it gives me an error "App did not install!" or something along those lines.
Long story short, I've extracted an FM Radio apk file from other ROM, in order to install it on another ROM, I put it on the internal storage, try to install and it always fails, I just get an error "app not installed"
Any ideas?
Download Spirit FM from the Play Store or from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13385163 if your ROM doesn't support FM Radio.

Hmmm, something serious is being developed here. Mods please move this to Original Android development thread.
Hats off to the OP.

SpiritFM doesn't work on my S3, don't know why just can't seem to figure out the configuration, I either get no sound or just static, the FM Radio that comes with UltimaROM works fine but only with UltimaROM, even if I extract it it won't install on Rootbox

I found a free version of sprint that works but it's an old one and doesn't allow searching of stations, any help? If I update it, it breaks (and not say just use the old version) I want the most up to date version even if I have to pay for it, as long as it works!

Thread closed, post such threads in the Q & A next time.
I haven't owned a Droid X in years, but I stumbled upon the 16GB SD card that was in it... If anyone needs anything, let me know and I'll Dropbox it.
Here's the highlights, but post what you're looking for and I'll see if I have it, I'd rather not list EVERYTHING on it, and there's a lot on it!
CyanogenMod 7 (I'm assuming the beta that came out) - "cm_shadow_full_127.zip"
APK for Real HDMI - I know there were two versions back in the day, only one worked, not sure which one this is, but there's probably a few versions throughout the SD card.
Fission ROM (Froyo Vanilla) - Fission ROMs were da **** back in the day, this one is basically AOSP Vanilla Froyo 2.2 with the stock look and no Moto add-ons.
APK for Gingerbreak v1.20 - If memory serves, roots Gingerbread Android 2.3 for the DX.
Liberty Gingerbread ROM - v0.7
MIUI 7.22 - Not sure if 2.2 or 2.3
The "Monster" update.zip that upgrades 2.2 to 2.3 stock... rooted? I think.
Oh wait this one is CyanogenMod 7.1, the beta thing that came out - update-cm-7-.1...
Apex 2.0 Beta
TranQ 3.7.0 (ROM but I can't recall which one)
Droid 2 bootstrap APK (works with Droid X)
Liberty Toolbox APK
Netflix APK cracked for Droid X
PDAnet APK
Liberty Toolbox APK
I'm not responsible if any of these files screw up your phone or computer or whatever, but between you and me they won't.

If you still have it, I could use the Droid2 bootstrap APK file. Thanks.
[HOW TO] Install/Use Droid 2/X/3 Bootstrap

Just use the modified dx Bootstrap in that link
Sent from my Clear using xda premium
So to be clear, you don't need the Droid 2 Bootstrap.apk? I mean that's probably around the interwebs..
you need a bootstrap to
install custom roms, create/restore nandroids and several other things
edit: there are links to the original Droid 2 bootstrap in my list, but I'm recommending the modified Droid X or 3 bootstrap, because cwm has been updated from 2.0 to 5.0
Regarding files
I am having trouble getting wifi to work is there a special kernel i have to flash... it isn't just on one rom i have tried several and am currently using a cm9 port (ics). Any help would be appreciated... also it is a motorola droid x. I keep getting the error "Authentication Problem" when trying to connect to my home WPA2 network. it did connect using WPS oddly... so is there some type of file or patch floating around that i don't know about for wpa/wpa2? Sorry if i'm not posting in the right thread i am not sure where to post. Thank you!
