I flashed GingerVillian 1.5 to my wife's phone the other night and all went well. I didn't do extensive testing, but it seemed that everything was as it should be. Now this morning she texts me saying that Slacker radio is playing but no sound is coming out of the speaker.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a fix for it? I'm telling her to uninstall slacker and then reinstall to see if that clears it up. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.
This wouldn't be a huge deal for me since i never use Slacker, but this is literally the main thing she does with her phone. Thanks in advance for any help.
I would recommend reflashing or trying a different rom. Maybe try Sparksmod, I don't have the issue with that rom, and she might like theme to it. Hope this helps.

Ok. I got my Vibrant the day it came out. I love the phone, but there are a few nagging issues that are really bothering me. Im hoping that its a software thing that will be fixed in the ota, but, for the first time, im beginning to doubt.
On my G1, I used to listen to Pandora almost all day at work. Never had any issues. But on the Vibrant, Im finding that Pandora will play for up to a half hour, then stop. At that point, I pretty much lose all data throughput. Nothing else will work. The phone still runs fine, but no data works. I usually have to reboot and data reconnects fine.
Ive tried the following at attempting a fix, in this order:
1. Tried Slacker, same issue
2. Factory reset
3. Installed new Sim card
4. Flashed Vibrant9
Anyone else having this issue? Anyone have any other suggestions? Im at my wits end. This isnt the only data issue im having, but its the worst.

My phone has been doing this for 2 or 3 days now. When I accept an incoming call, the phone automatically enters speakerphone mode.
When a BT headset is connected, it is fine.
Anyone got a clue why it is doing this? I havenet installed any apps which should have this effect.

Been looking into this all night, with no luck. Has anyone seen this before?
Not had any calls come in on mine yet so can't comment on whether I am affected. I would have thought it would be well known about though if it was widespread.
Are you using stock rom? Tried re-flashing the RUU?
Had this to you need to make someone call you and keep trying with the button to switch between speaker or ear and eventually i got it right! Hold it against your ear then remove it and try button again thats how i did it!

Same here with that issue ever since those new updates started

Mine too but it hardly ever does it now. A sensor tries to detect how your phone is positioned and switches to speaker. It seems to go away on the stock rom, so persevere on the stock rom. It all worked out for me eventually. Word of advice though, DISABLE SENSE until it's ready. It makes your contact icons in messages disappear. Htc always releases questionable software which should be described as beta. If you use bluetooth for music, stick with stock for now. Yadda yadda. All in all, the dhd. Rules. Oh ya, anyone know how the htc hd2 rund witb android 2.2. I saw lots of great deals on ebay to buy a broken one and fix tbe software to run android. I just want a new toy really.

I had this for a while - turned out to be an iffy setting in my profile manager/switcher (phoneweaver). Are you using anything like that?
FIXED: Oh my word, how simple was this...
Should have said, I'm on stock everything as I have a poor track record with having to send stuff back to manufacturers to be fixed.
After spending all night looking for a solution, and trying a couple of things found on other forums (install phonespeaker app and turn it off in that - doesn't work BTW), I decided this morning to remove the possibility that the phone had simply got its panties in a bunch, switched it off properly and removed the battery. 10 minutes of being denied a power source has cured it. Most bizarre.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I've had this happen a few times so far. I'll be listening to music and all of a sudden audio sips playing. No audio in any other apps including phone calls. Anyone have any idea?

This happened on G1 when people used old radio with new builds or radio was borked somehow. What radio image are you using? Is this the latest one?
A logcat would help a lot, without one its a guess game.

I have no idea what radio image I'm using. I am stock, no root.
Then it wouldn't apply to you.
Factory reset awaits you. If that doesn't fix the problem - call T-mobile.
I have a CDMA Hero and it's rooted and running aospcm7 gingerbread rom. Before flashing a rom I always wipe data, cache, etc and they always start up fine. Yesterday I was listening to music and it just stopped making noise. Yes, I know you should adjust the min/max cpu speed so it doesn't start skipping. But this time it just stopped making noise completely. Music doesn't play, no volume from videos, ringtones, etc. Don't know if it is a system issue or hardware. Everything else works fine except for that, even the dial tones work. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this or what the problem could be?
Thanks
That's a great question. Have you tried to reinstall the Rom?

Yup, switched to two different roms. But after much research on hero problems, it seems a blown speaker is common? If that is just the deal I'll just bring it to the sprint store to replace. And should I flash back to a stock rom?
Thanks for the quick reply

Yes it is fairly common, and most Sprint repair centers have the part in stock. Takes 15 minutes to replace, and in my case, they did not even have to do a factory reset (lol, not that I cared, as there was no data to wipe!) I RUU'd just before I drove to Sprint and had my laptop with adb in the truck and a nandroid on my sdcard. However, for me, sound did not just stop abruptly, it just rapidly degraded in quality.
In my opinion, rerooting and restoring a nandroid takes just minutes, and eliminates any chance of Sprint denying you service. Also, running the RUU will confirm that the issue is hardware related, if you have any doubt. That's your call though, most people say that Sprint did not care that they were rooted.

When you say that the dial tone works, are you saying with the speaker on the back? Like speaker phone? And does music work with headphones? It is quite common for the speaker in the back to blow. I've heard that since hardware and completely not related to softwate, you don't need to go back to stock rom. Strongly suggest you do though. They may make a note that you have voided your warranty. And that is no bueno.

Thanks for the help and info guys. It was weird because my nephew was listening to music on my phone with headphones, good thing that wasn't broken too, but then it started to play through the speaker for a bit. So I am guessing it is just a hardware problem. And never mind about the dial tones, guess the speaker was fuzzing in and out. But I will go into the Sprint store and let you all know how it goes.
Thanks again
Took it into a Sprint store earlier and everything is fine and working. Didn't have time to flash to a stock rom, but it didn't seem like they minded. They just replaced the speaker and called it to see if it worked. Thanks for the advice guys
Ok, so I've been using CM nightlies for a very long time. I've never had any major issues unless many others were reporting the same trouble. So now, I've decided to upgrade to 10.2 since it's been a few days already and there are not major issues reported. I upgraded fine except that I do not get any sound at all when on a phone call. The mic isn't working nor can I hear anything from the headset.
The strange thing is that if I put the phone on speaker, I can hear the conversation and the mic is working. If I switch it back, it stops. I've tried the mic and sound in many other apps and everything seems ok except for when making calls. You can see how this is a big issue. If I revert back to CM 10.1, I don't have any problems. As soon as I go back to 10.2, same issue again.
I don't see anyone else reporting the same issue. Here's what I've done so far to try to fix this. I did a complete wipe, lost everything on the phone. I made sure I had the latest gapps. I tried without wiping coming from 10.1 as well. I did all the fix permission in ROM manager. I don't really know what else to do at this point since nothing seems to be working.
Does anyone else have this issue? I'll try stock 4.3 and see what happens but I wanted to share and get some feedback from here as well.
I have you seen s you. Have you found a solution yet? When I use a bluetooth headset it works Fine
You need to update your radio

Try the app soundabout from the play store. Tell it to send audio to earpiece and under wired headset uncheck everything.
If mic doesn't work check out my thread in general section. Worked for me.

I tried that and that app and messed with different settings and it didn't work. I'm gonna try updating the radio and see what that does.

Huge thanks for this one. I had been searching google for a solution to this one for a week or so now. I will have to say, the most annoying thing I've had to deal with in quite some time. I should have just come to XDA first like an adult.

Sorry, but I don't know if this applies to the Samsung S4. I would try posting over in the T-Mobile Galaxy S4 forum.
