With 2.2 nearly here, why can't they use the guys working on 2.1 to concentrate all efforts on 2.2.. Are there going to be some users preferring eclair?

Froyo is an incremental upgrade to Eclair, rather than an overhaul. They are working on both, and the changes from the Eclair ROMs will be in the final Froyo ROM.
It seems that 2.1 is much faster and much more stable. What are the chances of getting a stable jit for 2.1? In my opinion this would be better than any 2.2 that's out right now. I know when I flash from baked snack 1.6 to any 2.2 beta rom it is a huge downgrade.

several things about this statement, the only 2.2 experience u have had is from unfinished beta works, so its not the "real" 2.2 experience, second, i dont see any custom kernels for our froyo yet, would probably be since there hasn't been a source release? so of course once the official build comes out there will be rooted/oc'd/custom kernels shortly after that perform much better than stock

Jit is designed for 2.2 I believe. And it's pointless to even bother trying to get it to work since we'll have froyo soon. Once official froyo is out and the kernel source is released, we'll have things that leave baked snack 1.6 in the dust. Just be patient, it'll be here soon

I hear ya.. I am just tired of samsung support and im thinking of trading for the evo. The evo will be getting gingerbread anyday now according to a sprint rep. Not sure how reputable that is but he swears on it! And the evo is a rom junkies dream! Lol but damn, epic has so much potential.. never get another samsung though...

Don't think there's any guarantee they'll even release gb for the incredible. After a phone has been released for some time, they stop providing updates. But the incredible is still relatively new. So I think we'll get gb, but maybe not honeycomb. I doubt we see gb before spring though.

Gb with the new sense is gonna be the cats meow...I honestly dream about this combo and believe it is a lot larger update then 2.2 with old sense was so....weee...wait
If im right gingerbread 2.4 will be released soon. Ive heard 11 februari or march. Any know of the exact release date? Ive held a unoffice test phone with this version of gingerbread which had simular hardware as the hd2. The new gingerbread works way better then the 2.3.x version.

Apparently some people have 2.4 on their Nexus Ss.. Do you guys call bs or actual new release in the works? I personally think it looks pretty legit but wanted some input from you guys.
I think it's a fake. The OP had 1 post and the next Android update is supposed to be v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

Yes it does, just not in the public eye.
It's months old, it became 2.3.3
there was a story months ago about 2.4 coming to the nexus S this isn't a big shock. everyoen thought it was ICS but it was just an incremental update to Gingerbread
Can't you edit a couple files to say you have whatever version you want

2.4 has bent mentioned a million times, originally ICS was 2.4, then 4.0 now back to 2.4.. then they said 2.4 was a GB update for Dual Core phones.. but one thing I am certain of is, that guy doesnt have it on his phone...
Of course he does, it's an old gingerbread build, nothing special and not worth faking. ICS has never been 2.4
On the Nexus One 2.4 was GRI05, and 2.3.3 was GRI40.
to the android news sites it has.. just google android 2.4...
