[Q] Removing apps from the market list? - EVO Shift 4G General

Sorry if this has been answered, but I couldn't find a solution searching.
Before we got permaroot, I downloaded the Gallery3D app from the market since I missed it from aosp. Now that I have an aosp rom again, however, that app continues to show as installed in my market list simply from the stock apk being present. Is there any way to remove it? I tried turning off backup to Google and wiping already to no effect.

Try clearing the cache to the market and download manager i guess.
Sent from my non-rooted, stock Epic.

So the app is installed on your phone and appears in your Market list of installed apps? It sounds like everything is working as it's supposed to.
You could try using Titanium if it bothers you, it has a detach from Market option. I think it'll keep coming back though.

I'll try Titanium and see if that does it. It's true that it's technically working as intended, just annoying that I've tried to delete the apk entirely to get that stock AOSP app unassociated with a market entry where someone just posted it themselves. It's not a huge deal, but I'd rather not have to remember to go in and uncheck auto-update on things like that while changing roms.

So I uninstalled both programs
The Market says "Currently Downloading" but the Taskbar never shows it happening, and the little download bar in the App spins for a while and just stops.
I even left a simple game downloading overnight to no avail

Try canceling your downloads, logging into Talk, then trying again? Or cancel downloads, reboot, log into google Talk, then open Market

This happens to me and many many people ALL THE TIME. The worst part is that there is never one reason why this happens or one fix. You just have to be lucky. I AM GETTING SICK AND TIRED OF THIS HAPPENING TO ME AND EVERYONE ELSE. Hopefully when froyo comes or something it will not happen anymore.

@billypunk81 That is a quick google for an answer.
And in the future please use the general forum for any and all questions. Unless you are developing something don't start a thread here.
Also give this a read.
good day.
I had same issue and nothing helped. I froze 'Market' and 'Market Updater' from Titanuim then thawed both right away. Started working after that.
Check and make sure Background Data is on. Maybe it got turned off somehow.
Try removing the 2.2 Market if you have it installed. That's what did it for me.
I ran into this situation when I mistakingly restored the 2.2 Market after flashing jt's clean ROM. To solve this, I removed Vendor.apk and reflashed jt's clean ROM. That fixed things for me.

Not showing all my Apps in the New Android Market

Trying to see if this is just me or other people experiencing the same issue. Android Market updated last wk and now only the apps that I have purchased are showing up under my apps. Under the help section they say this is a known problem. There are certain times when I go into the market and click on my apps and everything shows up but thats like 1/10 times. Anyone experiencing the same issue?
BTW I'm running CM7 nightly on build 08052011

Thanks for the input but I've never heard of "batch relink". Can you describe it more in depth? To clarify all my apps are still on my phone. If I search for the app by name it shows as being installed on my phone, just not under MY Apps.
Saw something called Market Doctor in Ti Backup that sounds like what you are talking about but after that ran it said it restore link for 6 of my apps but still same result only paid apps showing under My Apps.

sorry its called "attach to the market"
try it with a single app if you want, find one thats not linked currently. open titanium go to backup/restore tab & long press on the app you want. you should have an option to attach to market.
let us know if that helps
but yea market doctor might be what does them batch style.. i dunno if a reboot might help after applying
When I long press anyone of the apps that isn't showing up there is a bunch of opts but i don't see attach only one I get is detach from market. Which makes me believe it is linked correctly. Tried rebooting, same issue. Maybe this is a issue on their end since some times all my apps does show up. Just weird if no one else is experiencing this.
In TB, if you hit menu, more you should see the market doctor. If that doesn't work, delete the data for the market. I had to do that to fix mine.

Went to Ti Backup selected Market. Wiped data. Ran the Market. It asked for me to accept to the terms which I did. Same result only paid apps are showing up in My Apps.

This has been a problem with the Market for a while for me. You should be able to see all your apps, paid and free, on the Market website (https://market.android.com). I've never done a "market repair" before.
My issue is that certain apps are just plain no longer showing in the market. such as Better keyboard 8. I love this keyboard, bought the pro version and have a couple of favorite skins for it. now it dont show up in the market.
I was finally able to resolve my issue, here is what I did. Using Ti Backup I selected the Market and restored a older version. The version i had backed up was 2.x I havent done a back up in a while. After the Market was restored to the older version I ran the app. It ask me to accept the term, after i click ok the app forced closed and it automatically downloaded a update. After a few mins I clicked on the Market again and it once again ask me to accept to the term but this time it was the new Market. All my apps are in the My App section. Thanks for everyone for their advise and input. With out the ideas that was tossed out there I wouldnt know where to start or what to try.
Update:
Same thing again only purchased apps are showing in My Apps. I can do the same thing over again and all my apps will show up but this seems to be a temporary fix. Any other suggestions?

[SOLVED] Apps saying not installed, but they are.

In my market, it says i have all these apps not installed. But they are all installed. When i click on them it doesnt say install, it says open. The apps run fine n are in my drawer. Is there a way to fix this? Its just really annoying when my "Pro" keys arent being used. Like, titanium backup says im using the free version when i have the pro version installed, same for my launcher pro key.

EDIT: can this be moved to the Q&A section, accidentally put in general. Thank you.
Same thing with me... google maps, youtube, and a few others are in the Not installed section, but when you select them it says installed, and you only have the option to open. I'm assuming they are still being checked for updates when I open Market... at least I hope they are. More annoying than anything else. Any thoughts?
Open up the "Manage Applications" and find Market. Clear the cache and reopen. Should show up now. Had to do that on mine.

I have the same problem, and agree it is annoying.
It started happening when I did a titanium backup after unlocking. So I guess there must have been some problem syncronizing with market after.
I have solved the problem by uninstalling the applications that were listed as needing updates even though they were already updated. And when reinstalled, the notification went away. It's not a very elegant way of fixing the problem, I know.
If anyone else has a better solution, please advise.
I learned this method from another forum (can't remember where); it always works for me:
Exit all applications on the phone
Home > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All
Market: Clear Cache, Clear Data (OK)
Google Services Framework: Clear Cache, Clear Data (OK)
Reboot your phone
Open Market app and Accept the TOS
Market > Settings > Content filtering > Set level > Show all apps (OK)
Market > My Apps: no more missing apps, or false positives for updates
I've tested this many times with the new Market app on my AT&T phone in both stock GB and piCRUST. It always fixes the display of installed apps within the Market app itself. But the list of apps showing on the Market web site under My Account (https://market.android.com/account) may not be immediately updated with the results. Sometimes the Market web site will be updated later rather than sooner, or only partially rather than completely. But this local fix will usually affect the web listing to at least some degree.
(Space reserved for future rant on market web site lameness...)

I see that error occasionally after using this fix, but I also sometimes see it after re-flashing the phone, and after other seemingly unrelated actions. It usually goes away for me if I just turn on wireless first before opening the Market app (no need to reinstall it). I think it's related to some error in the app or settings initialization, and not specific to this clean-up routine or anything else.
And yes, I've found that using a task killer also seems to help. Maybe indicative of another app blocking the Market from opening correctly at first run? I don't know, but once it goes away it doesn't seem to come back.
Thanks, this worked flawlessly.
Could I suggest you add "Solved" to the title of this thread so others that might have the same issue could use this?

One other thing that will confuse the Market about what's kosher: using a non-standard LCD density.
In my case I had hard-coded build.prop to set ro.sf.lcd_density=300 and ever since I did that the Market website kept telling me that most of the apps I'd previously installed were not compatible with my Atrix 4G(!) My workaround was to revert to the default ro.sf.lcd_density=240 and then use the "LCDDensity" app to temporarily set it to 300. Whenever I need to go to the Market for something I just reboot the phone first and it reverts back to the default setting in build.prop.
If you've got it the other way around (e.g. build.prop is using a non-default setting, and you're using LCDDensity to override this back to the default), then that might explain why you're seeing this Market mischief return on reboot.
Even if you're not using LCDDensity (or you're using something else like "LCD Density Changer" which can make these changes permanent), you might want to check your current LCD density. Ditto for other property settings that might not be using their defaults.
Here's a list of all the things that the Market looks for to determine if a particular phone is compatible with an app:

Hoping to shed some light on "My Apps" section of market not working

like title says, hopefully this helps with the issue.
I have been having this problem for about a week and none of the fixes have worked for me. the only thing that has worked is re flashing my ROM (decks 1.3d) and then it starts working again. I have also flashed to a sense ROM and had the same symptoms.
So today I started totally fresh with ROM and kernel. Then i nandroided before i did DTA2SD because i thought a2sd might be part of the problem. "my apps" worked for me before and after i flashed a2sd but only showed about 10 of my apps.
next I decided to uninstall facebook and reinstall to see if that would make the rest of the apps show up. Facebook was installed on my phone but was not one of the apps showing up in My apps.
Well, after i uninstalled facebook I went back to my apps and Nothing was there again. So I reinstalled facebook and still nothing. so since that didnt work I restored the nandroid from before I did a2sd and rebooted and now "my apps" are there again but only the 10 apps.
I haven't been able to figure out whats going on but this is a huge pain for me because I actually read what changed when my apps update so going to app-brain then to market and back and forth is pretty time consuming.
I don't know whats going on but hopefully this helps somebody figure something out. I come here for a lot of help so I wanted to try to contribute something
edit: I do have another google account but it has never been synced to my evo, but it was synced to my Eris. I forgot to mention that after this last reflash, when it stopped showing apps, I went to settings and synced my other Gmail account then went to market and switched to that account and my apps that I had on the Eris showed up. Of course it stopped working once I switched it back to the right Gmail account. That makes it even more strange that at the same time it was broke with one account and working with another
And I just came back to my phone, had a notification for an app update but when I clicked it took me to my apps in market but did not show the app that needed updated

I've had this issue, still have it actually. Every time I switch roms. Certain roms will
automatically start downloading my apps, and certain ones will not, they don't even
show up as things that I've downloaded.
No big deal. I use Android Commander to keep all of my apps backed up.
After any combination of partitioning/wiping/flashing, even if I restore a nandroid,
I verify that my apps are installed, if not, restore my backups. Then I open the
application manager, scroll down to market, clear cache and data, then I reload
the market, hit My Apps, and they are all in the list. If they need updates, I update.
This was already mentioned, but I figured I'd mention it again for good measure,
At least I always have a copy of the apps on the off chance that I forgot to nandroid
them, or the market 'forgets' what I had. I've flashed just about every rom I can
think of for the Hero and the Evo respectively, CM, AOSP, Sense based.. Never had
any problems this way.
Just use the app "Eris market fix" from the market it was made for the Droid Eris but works on Evo too. When your apps don't show u just open it click the fix market button reboot to recovery clear cache/dalvik boot back to your Rom and go to market > my apps and they are all back, works great when your market links on tb market doctor don't fix the market which I have had issues with lately but Eris market fix has worked everytime I've used it. As noted before, you do want to be careful when using more than one Google account in the Gmail app. For whatever reason, sometimes the secondary account will try to be used for your Google interactions and will cause messes like apps not showing up or not updating correctly. I say this because that is what happened to me. Once I stopped using my other account in Gmail app everything worked again.
If you go to the Market web page from a computer, what happens? Log in as your primary account, whatever you use on your Evo. If it's synced to multiple phones, you'll be able to choose which one. Oddly enough, I only have one phone on my account and it shows two - one is my phone information and the other says "unrevoked" - I think this causes some of my issues with the Market. If your apps don't show, try downloading an app that you already have on your phone. Maybe it will trigger something when you push the app to your phone. If you still have your Eris and use the same apps on both phones, this could be the problem. As a last resort you could contact Google or whatever Market support there is. I can't say that it would do much good, but it's worth a shot.

App to *possibly* fix the blank my apps list issue

Hi all,
I have a Bell Atrix and I always have the blank my apps list issue with any Blur based Gingerbread ROMs. I found that removing the Preset app fixed my problem. So I put a small app together to scan the market database to compare the list of market recognised installed apps to the available apps in the market. Users can then remove apps and the market association in the market database.
If possible, can I please have someone to help me test this app? Also, I'd imagine this app should work with any gingerbread running phones with the same problem.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.kstudio.marketfixer
Steps:
1) nandroid backup then start the app
2) Click on Load Market Data (and wait for it to finish)
3) If the app found anything, it will be added to the list
4) Select apps from the list and click on "Del Checked Entry" to delete them
5) Uninstall window will show for the selected apps, click on Uninstall
6) Open the market again, wait a bit and see if the list shows.
Thanks!!
Update1:
I found that Android Market, when starting from scratch (after deleting all the app data), downloads a list of all the apps you have ever associated to your account. If you have ever used TiBu (or the like) to associate apps you shouldn't have associated to the market, and still have the app installed, you will start to have the market problem after wipe.
Update2:
I believe the version 3.5.15 market has made this app obsolete. You can find the download link in the post below
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/download-google-play-store-apk-3-5-15/
Update3:
Uploaded version 2.0.0, for anyone still wanting to remove market links in the new market.

Worked as stated. Nice to have this feature back. Thank you for your work and sharing.
Glad to hear this is working! cheers!
Ken218, thank you for this app.
After I ran "Load market data," a bunch of apps (meaning way more than I'd like to count) showed in the list, but nothing was checked.
Expected?
If so, how do I identify troublemakers from the list?
This is on a Sprint Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch, running Calkulin's ROM, v2.8.1.
Thank you again.
Holy s***! This works! Thank you!!
There were three apps found, none were checked, so checked them and uninstalled them, market working perfect now! You rock!
Oh and this works on stock ICS 4.0.2 (galaxy nexus gsm) so you can add this to your compatibility list.
Need to sticky this in every device forum.
Thanks again!!
holy sheep **** you are a mad genius this worked for me i have a rooted unlocked motorola photon running rocko rom joker kernel and a fistful of tweaks and my apps are listed again in the market major thanks for this

Genius........that works perfect on ICS 4.0.3 rooted Iconia 500.
I then reinstall the delete apps.
Thank you so much

On more thing. Is there any way to get the market to stop showing apps from Amazon's AppStore as "Purchased" in the market? There's a few I've gotten from the Free App of the Day that I'd like to purchase on the Android Market but am unable to because it says "Install" instead of "Purchase". That doesn't work. It registers the app as purchased. Same thing happens with cracked apps. If you installed one and upgraded to the latest market, you'll never be able to purchase the app again off the android market.

There is a workaround, but it involves some messing around:
1) Uninstall targetted app
2) Freeze market auto-upater
3) Downgrade your market to 2.2.6, run market
4) search for chosen app (Don't go to my apps, that doesn't seem to work anymore)
5) buy app
6) restore new market...
7) ???????
8) Profit!
Ken you should add some cache feature.
I've deleted apps one by one to find the trobulemaker, but after every uninstall I've had to rescan again - with <10 apps it doesn't take too much time, but if search results can be stored within MarketFixer it'd speed up the whole process
EDIT: Thank You very much, market fixed (at least for a while )

There are a lot of things in my list which are part of my ROM (Keis Air, for example).
There are also many Android Market apps for which a Market Search turns up no hits (Super Froggy and Twidroyd Pro). I guess these apps have been retired....?
At any rate there are probably 4 dozen things in my scanned list, and I'm nervous about whacking them. Any advice, sir?

I'd assume you used TiBu to fix market link? Because components formed part of the ROM (Certificate Installer, Cell broadcast, etc) won't be attached to the market.
I'd say wipe the market and let it rebuild its database first (by starting the market app and let it sync/download all the things automatically).
Like you said, it is possible that some of the apps you have are retired. Also, during my tests, I found some apps where the developer decided to change the package name (xe currency) so the market became broken (doesn't cause the blank market problem though).
In the case of Atrix (and possibly other motorola devices), removing "Preset" is all its needed to fix the market.
