I use my phone to read ebooks, and as the backlight is on, so are the backlights for the touch sensitive buttons next to the screen. The backlight for these is significantly brighter than the screen's, and slightly distracting when reading in low light. I just wondered if anyone could think of a way of controlling these seperately?
Sent from my MotoA953 using XDA App
yep, I have the same problem!
After the May update of software it got better because the backlights already started to response on the light conditions... but anyway, my problem with reading ebooks hasn't been solved :-(
so is the only way the root, or did you already solve it by some way?
It doesn't seem that the backlights react on any settings in the original rom or in the reader's app :-/ and it is also drying my battery so fast!!!
A2s 2.0 will fix this. Combo key for turn them off/on.

argen2stone, a well cooked ROM for MS2 based on official SBF by santiemanuel, and I am looking forward to version 2.0
Recommend an app "screen filter"
http://market.android.com/details?id=com.haxor
You can lower the backlight even darker than the stock lowest level, as well as disabling the softkey backlight when the filter is on

I have tried kj4, kka and sheep rom. All have the annoying long wait after pressing power button intil the screen is lit up. Also tried different CPU governors without result. What is the problem here? And can it be solved?
Is it just me, or do others experience this as a prob?

I've got the same rom, but I don't see the problem you described.... try to reinstall the rom.
ps: you should post this under the thread of your rom, without creating a new one
You may have a defective device.

mine is like 2seconds after the bootanimations and stops at samsung logo..fast enough for me
I have the same problem with my note. I just got mine yesterday. No clue as to what's causing it. I updated my firmware to the latest but left the old kernel so i could keep root access. Had the same problem with both the new and the old firmware.

Just to clarify the issue here:
When the phone is on but screen has been off for a while, the time between pushing pwr button and until the screen lights up is about 1 second, it may not sound much but it just enough to make one press the button once again. Not what i am used to on my previous androids from HTC.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
Same here. KJ4, stock KKA and sheep KKA. It is annoying indeed...
Probably a user experience thing, you guys who claim to NOT have the issue:
Can you lock the screen and wait for like 10 mins and then on the screen again and time the delay from button press to screen light-up?

Where do you come frome? I mean are u used to Samsung devices or something else?
I am judging this by my 2 previous HTC's whith all kinds of different Roms where I have never seen this.
My thought is that it is on all notes but some people does not see it as a problem but you and me do.

I am having the same issue. Takes 1-2 seconds until the device is fully powered up from standby...
I think I figured out the issue. I disabled weather on the lock screen and now my phone comes straight on. Maybe everyone with the issue can try that and see if it works for them?
Confirmed, getting rid of the weather on the lock screen gets rid of the lag
I'm having the same prob. I'll try removing the weather app and see if that helps.
Great no I cant remember how to remove it. help

Nope still does it, 2sec delay.

This was there even on the s2..
yea, mines also has the same 1-2 sec delay. no weather on lock screen. found it odd, cause i've only had HTC phones so far, and never saw this.
Samsung don't use early_resume in the kernel, that Seems To be more qualcomm Related code.
It's that Code that gives you instant screen resume on the HTC devices et al.
I found this a niggle on the note as well, but have got Used to it,especially compared to amount of work it would take to fix it.
Just got my Nexus 7 today and was working fine for a couple Of hours then I suddenly noticed a red line on the screen. Im attaching a Picture Of it. Any way to fix it without RMA?
Enviado desde mi iPad con Tapatalk HD
Download an app called dead pixel fixer (or something like that). It will flash through a lot of colors and if it's simply a line of stuck pixels they'll come out. Let it do its stuff for like fifteen minutes. If it doesn't work you need to rma.

Sorry but, looks like you have to send it in, seems like a very bad defect.
I have the screen lift issue, very little, but you can hear clicking. I'm not sure if I should send it back.
If Samsung or HTC made this, none of this would've happened. I'm not doing the screen fixes because that's stupid, the product should be in perfect shape on arrival. So, I think you should send it in.

But if Samsung or HTC made this device, we might see.. Touchwiz and Sense
In any case, I would do the stuck pixel fix as mentioned (although I doubt this would work). I would put in a RMA anyway.
Tried to fix it using this dead pixel fixer but it doesnt work. At the moment I am in Ecuador will have to RMA when I get in the states. Does anyone knows how RMA works when bought from the play store?

No, it's a Google device, they can't do that.
Although I would be OK with Sense 4.0.

I've heard that you just call then, and you can keep your old Nexus 7 while you get your new one.
Although I think it's like a 15 day refund policy.

Mine just started doing this too. I'll be calling Google tomorrow.
Hi Guys,
I have a big problem.
My find doesn't ring when in standby (after pushing the power butto to lock it).
I tried everything but no way...
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
No way?

X909EROM_V1.0.0_3305G_full, but I tried all the firmware from Oppo and also others... No way to make it ring when in standby!
May be a hardware malfunction. Have you tried to contact the seller? I'll double check all the settings in case something got toggled off, but if you've tried other firmwares with full wipes then it should have reset whatever the problem was.. You have tried doing a full wipe/factory reset correct?
Sent from my X909 using Tapatalk 4
I thought it could be related to having messed up with profiles and/or sound settings... but...yeah...having tried other firmwares with prior factory resets... a hardware malfunction is definitely a possibility.
I finally got a screenshot of this since it seems to happen randomly, but has anyone else experienced all of these volume options appear at once? Does anyone know how to make it stay? Lastly, what is the weird hand volume control at the bottom do if you have experienced this before?
Oh man. I want that! Maybe the hand is haptic feedback?

If it is showing up that means it is there somewhere. There must be some sort of a hidden way enabling it. Much like how to enable the basic system UI settings

I was using the YouTube app, the way I got it to trigger was to rotate the phone so the video was Fullscreen, then spam the volume keys. Sometimes it popped up, most times it doesn't.

Mate, I can feel your pain.
Melina kernel has a built in solution. It's the screen adjustment color. I have the same problem and I use Melina and now no burn in

Oh, that's what we call LCD retention I believe. It happens to certain LCDs when you stay on one screen for too long. It's like AMOLED burn in, except it goes away unlike AMOLED. Try the Melina kernel fix mentioned earlier.

Use the blue filter app from Play store.,then select the darkest color and set it to 3%. No retention whatsoever
How do I use Melina kernel ? I am not an expert but I want to learn because it's been only two years and this screen retention problem has come up. By d way is this problem going to get worse with time ?
