Am I missing something?
For the past week I've been watching the auction of Wildfires on eBay UK and have noticed that the white versions of the Wildfire command a significant premium to other versions.
I can understand this, per se, but what I don't get is that the prices paid regularly exceed the price I'd pay at Phones4u to walk out the door with one (£139.99).
I must be missing something here. Anyone care to enlighten me?

It's the same thing here. White commands a premium and are listed as "Limited Edition Wildfire" on eBay.
The only reason I guess is that the buyer / bidder is not aware of the availability of the White Wildfire in retail stores or, is unaware of the price of one, and, got "conned".
I had the option to pick white when I was purchasing my Wildfire,but chose black cos i know it'll get all yellowish and dirty...but its still sad that some people don't do research before buying something.

But you got to admit the white one looks real pretty on first glance
I didn't get to choose white when i was buying it though, only red or black..
Well I put my money where my mouth is and bought a white Wildfire today from Phones4u here in London.
It cost me £139.95 all-in (no 'con'-tract and no 'over-' insurance).
So now I have both a red one and a white one.
I planned on selling the red one to part finance the purchase of the white one but now I'm not sure what to do. The white one came with Froyo installed while it said Eclair on the box. I've read that Unrevoked currently doesn't work on the Froyo Wildfires (something to do with a different bootloader cf. Eclair). Soes now I has to wait until the Unrevoked developers can hack up a solution.
No rooted white Wildfire for me just yet, it seems. It looks like I'll be hanging on to my rooted red one for a while longer. Anyways, I've still got a Galaxy S and a Nexus S to sell which will more than cover any resale depreciation on my Wildfires.

I work at Best Buy Mobile and we had an Employee News article go through our systems about a week or two ago that literally read "White Evos Lost In Bermuda Triangle." The article went on to say that they weren't really lost in the Bermuda Triangle, but to not expect any replenishment on White Evo stocks for the foreseeable future. Don't wait around for one, they aren't coming any time soon.

I work at Best Buy, and I cannot even get one. The whole state of Florida is pretty much out of them, and they are discontinued.
So don't bother expecting to get one with an upgrade. It's better to just buy one on eBay.
Let your co worker know white evo isn't too far from black one.
Screen and frame portion is black just like the regular black evo.
Only white portion is the battery cover and the small portion of plastic on the back.
It's far from white iPhone and black one.

Actually sprint is going to resell the white evo in November. Probably after the galaxy tab goes on sale which is on the 14.

This is true, Best Buy just got exclusive rights to sell them a few months earlier.
Still waiting to get my blue s3. I gave the shop a call and they said that deliveries have bagun but since almost all pre orders have been blue ones it takes time. I have read aimilar stories from forums so could it be that samsung draw the blue one to sell more white ones too in the beginning?

well, do keep in mind that, there is a strong possibility that most pre-orders for white has been processed since the phone was originally launched...with substantially more pre-orders for blue that has yet to be processed? New Zealand was one of the first countries to receive the SGS3 and it has only been about 2 days since the blue units started to be surface on the market...furthermore, the price difference between white and blue would be minimum so Samsung wouldnt intentionally shoot itself on the left foot by releasing just one of the colours when both colours have been heavily marketed and promoted...
Companys do still regularly do a Buzz Lightyear with stock but it does seem a stretch to think they'd do this.

A Buzz Lightyear: Deliberate stock shortages.
When Toy Story was released they deliberately didn't have enough stock to create shortages and create queues of people seen on the news.
I have been offered a blue one ready for shipment here in Denmark so it is definitely being shipped. But people are waiting in line.

I have a brand new in box T-Mobile hd2 I saw a bid for on eBay for a brand new one at 1,000 dollars. Do you think this phone is worth that much or even be consider a collectible?

And maybe the HD2 will be known as something cool in the future, like how people still collect and use Amigas. With the dev community here and it's many possibilities, maybe it will retain some value, at least until a suitable alternative comes up (sadly, there have not been any)

A thousand bucks is just a joke for phones.. I see many iphone 3g/4g for 1000 bucks.. Not sure why and I don't see anything special.. unless the inside is plated with gold or something
This phone is great and all but there is no way its worth $1000. I've seen places selling them a lot cheaper then that. I've bought several new
phones since owning my HD2 and I've stopped using them or have sold them and gone back to the HD2 every time and as much as I love this
phone there would be no way I'd be willing to shell out that kind of money for it. You could buy two Sensations for that price point. The seller is
crazy if they think they'll get this or anything close to it. Maybe the price didn't translate well or something,
I hunted the link down on ebay if anyone else wants to take a look..
Thanks for the link, the reason I kept one bnib was for one day to be worth a lot of money. Another seller on amazon has it for 999.95 not sure what version this are but my guess that's probably the reason for the very high price.

I can buy brand new t-mobile US model still sealed with sim & 16GB card & have unlocked free once purchased for less than 300USD ...
It's a great device but not worth a 1,000bucks to anyone.
You guys are bursting my bubble i already went through the Bennie baby crisis during the 90's not sure if I can take the hd2 not be worth money one day. I guess it has kept its value pretty well since being out around 2 years ago.

Kept its value as device still competes in size & style to modern handsets & has a good physical construction feel, plus with custom cross rom development it made its own unique used device market.
Common faults & ****e faulty or bad repair handsets keep used prices sensible.
I think the seller is just kidding himself to have it at such a high price, especially when an HTC One X is half that. You can set any price you want for Buy It Now.
However, new, unopened HD2s are obviously rare, (mostly because nobody was such a fool to invest in electronics), and smartphones were definitely more expensive unlocked in the recent past, so maybe he's just out of touch.

Just wanted to let you all know that from tomorrow Phones4U UK will be stocking the Glamour Red variant of the HTC One in all their city stores and major stores, and from Monday next week will be stocking them in all stores.

I don't think its really worthwhile getting the red one if you already have the original silver one. Surely you cant love red that much?
Them finally being instore is good news though, I've been holding off an upgrade to my HOX for some time - especially after I've dropped it so many times the screen is nigh on unusable. Wasn't really convinced with the HTC1, but the red does look nice. Will check tomorrow! Either that or keep making do with an iPhone 4 till the apparently 'upgraded HTC one' comes out later this year, or the 'M8' next year.

I do love red, i could sell my silver. Only thing putting me off is having to set it all up again, plus most of my cases i don't think will suit the red, ill just check it out in town tomorrow.

I wanna get that $199 N4 its a real steal
I am going bank tomorrow to put in some cash in my account so I can transfer it to my friend who has a credit card with a US billing address.
Hopefully they don't sell out by tomorrow. This kind of price it sounds like they must be selling thousands per day and right now I sold my trash S3 mini and am using a $10 nokia black and white phone to make calls and use alarm app.
But I don't know which color to buy. Generally I HATE AND I MEAN I HATE White Galaxy S3 and S4
BUT thats Mostly because its plastic and the front of the phone is also white. The N4 is like the Galaxy Ace. The front is all black but back and sides alone are white.
But I hear the N4 sides can get discolored and dirty if its white
please help me decide I am so excited. So glad I didnt waste money on a S4 or Xperia Z
I should probably buy black since its always my favorite color in electronics

How about this, buy both phones, black and white, then try it out for a few days and then decide which one you like. Keep one and return the other Personally, I prefer black color.

No apart from not having the money to buy both
I live in the Caribbean so it cannot be returned and also getting one device alone into the country means I have to pay around $100 USD in TAX
So that would be $100 US wasted plus the shipping fee international.
i think its best be safe and go with black
