Anyone else having an issue on their Omnia 7 where SMS messages aren't received unless the phone is turned off and back on? I just started having this problem recently and I don't know what is causing it or how to fix it. I'll turn my phone off and when it turns on again I'll get all the texts that I've missed since the last reset.

Hi All.
I've persevered with this problem long enough and I'm reaching the point where I'm ready to send my phone back and ask for something else.
The problem is, seemingly at random, the phone loses the notification settings for SMS, MMS and reminders and silences them all and turns off all display messages.
The only way I catch a message coming in these days is to have the phone on the desk and watch for the screen turning on.
It leaves the volume up for the phone ringing etc but switches off messages.
It's absolutely doing my head in. I've googled but noone else seems to be reporting similar messages so I'm wondering if there is something really easy I'm missing or is it a hardware thing some how.
Anyone got any ideas? Filaing that, has anyone got a backup of the original UK T-Mobile ROM that I can put back on?
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Exactly the same is happening to my dual, after I upgraded to WM 6.1! It's really annoying.
I reported the problem to Customer Support, but they only recommended to perform a hard reset
Of course I did, but nothing happens.
I found the registry keys which are supposed to control this, but it's useless for me - Maybe someone can find a way to keep the settings in read-only mode or something
I hope HTC release a hotfix for this problem asap!
I noticed that the sms vibration doesn't work when the phone is in standby mode (black screen)..
Infact it receive the sms and only when i turn on the screen it vibrates. How can i solve this problem?
It is without sense a vibration not working in standby mode..
I was gonna ask the same question.
I just noticed that after having my g1 for almost a week.
Same I have noticed it after installing JF 1.3.1 or r00ting my g1 maybe its prob a minor bug in the coding nothing big hopefully it gets fixed in next update of JF after cupcake.
There is no way to fix this problem? I saw that if i receive 2 notification, at the second it vibrates..
The problem is at the first notification while the phone is in standby..
I already tried with sms popup. However i solved uninstalling dgAlert. It probably created conflict
The phone lights up as if it's about to receive a text, but nothing comes through. In the past I was able to deduce who sent the text, and they have resent it (thus confirming the problem).
Anyone else experienced this?
I got same problem i can not send sms and not recive it i check settings but its sems to be fine.
Any ideas how to repair this annoying problem
I had this, but only when I used smartwatch to get my MBW-100 working, after uninstalling that they started coming through properly again.
Hi,
I updated my ROM as soon as it came out in January.
I have been using my HTC HD2 on and off over the last two months due to its niggles but thought I would give the phone one more chance.
To my dismay again - I having issues with sending and incoming text messages.
For example
There was about a 3 hour window today where I suspect I was not receiving any text or sending any.
I noticed this because I phoned vodafone to give me an automated SMS message to tell me how many mins I got left. But after 2 attempts and left it for 90 mins, no messages came through.
I also sent out a couple of texts but noticed the delivery reports were shown as not delivered. These were two several different people.
So I thought this must be my phone then.
I switched off my phone and back on again, voila the messages I had sent were delivered 30 secs after my phone was switched back on.
I phoned up Vodafone again to get automated text message - viola the sms came within 5 seconds.
Question
What cause the cessation of incoming and outgoing messages in that 3 hour window? Could an app/update running in the background could have caused this?
Is this a common issue even with the latest official ROM update? Is there a fix?
Please help as this issue along with short battery life is making me thing whether to get rid of phone.
But I also love the other features of the phone - for that reason I want this fundamental feature of sending/receiving SMS message to be resolved.
Thanks -rant over
that sounds just like the original sms problem.
did you use backup software when you upgraded? with the wrong settings, when you restore it can cause problems by writing back some old system files.
could be as easy as a hard reset.
no I did not use any backup software. literally just installed the new ROM and then had to install all my programs manually in again. any ideas? it does seem like the old sms issue as the problem is much less frequent but annoying nonetheless lol.

Sorry to hear all your disappointing references your having with your HD2.
I not long after getting myne when had rom 1.48 and now 1.66 never have had any SMS problems(although a fix was installed by HTC straight away apon purchase)
I then installed a app to disable Sence Sms (sorry cant find where i got it from) being processed by Sence as it created a few limitations i liked in windows sms .
Any way by shifting the total responsibility back to Windows Sms functionality > i have never to today experienced a single problem with stuck sms.
I hope this helps.
but my problem is very intermittent. could a program running in the background cause this issue
I have an O2 HD2 which came with ROM V1.43 i had no issues with sms. I installed the V1.66 ROM...still no issues! It may be something to do with your network? might be worth trying a different networks sim card to prove???
I thought the same but i have no issue with my old phone. strange huH?
I'm in the UK on O2 and today I sent some SMS and just noticed the last few were stuck at "Sending" and had been that way for hours. I deleted them and tried again. Same problem, regardless of the recipient. So I toggled Airplane mode on/off. Still no luck. So I rebooted. Once the phone came up I got two notifications along the lines of "Unable to send message". I can now send OK.
Now perhaps this was my network playing up but I'd been receiving SMS fine - and making calls - all day. I've never seen this behaviour before and the fact a reboot cleared it makes me wonder if it's a bug with the messaging app.
Has anyone else seen anything like this? Until today I'df been happily sending and receiving SMS with no issues since I got my N4 last Thursday.

I'm on AT&T here in the states and I send hundreds of texts a day and have not run into this problem at all. I had one delay with an MMS that sent about an hour after I had initially sent it but other than that, smooth sailing.

I ran into the same problem today. Rebooting your phone should get it back working. If not, enter your phone settings by dialing *#*#4636#*#*
Tap on Phone information and scroll down to SMSC:
Click on the Refresh button. You should see a number that looks like this: "+1206XXXX..."
This number is carrier specific.
Me too

Me too. Rebooting and updating smsc didn't help. I tried to undo my actions to the extent I could remember but to no avail. For instance, I had disabled various inbuilt services viz. Pinyin, Korean keyboard, cell broadcasting, exchange, email etc. Re-enabled. Zuk. I had uninstalled Contacts+, reinstalled. Again, nada.
But Contacts+ is able to send normal smss. That is definitely intriguing and I would love to figure it out. Can someone assist?
