what's it a QDL tools? - Streak 5 General

hi to all,
what's is QDL repair tool?
what is ur task?
Is there any guidance on how to use it?

Qdl tool or aka repair tool allows you to flash a streak to build 305 whichever is a prerelease froyo version. From there's you can easily update to the most current US release of froyo from dell.

I also have a streak which started life with the EU 6267 and I sm now on the 12332 build. I wss previusly on the 11548. The best way is to go back to 1.6 4399, then back to 6267. This I belueve is the only way. Follow tjis link on your pc. Because it does not work on the 2.2 ;-)

And when you finally get to the step where you are attempting to install the 6267 package you will need to make sure you use the attached recovery image. Otherwise you get the FOTA mismatch problem. Let me know if you need more help.

Yes you can. Look in these forums or Google QDL Tool for Dell Streak and research that. It will Update your phone to 2.2 and make it appear as an non-network tied device. With it showing up as not tied to a carrier, you would be able to download updates sooner.
Do you recommend some tutorial to do it?
Thank you very much.

The qdl tool has a video that shows you step by step on what to do. Its real easy. I did it on the first try.
Have a look at this thread over at Pocketables web site.

Take out the spaced around the period.

[Q] Going from AT&T 2.2 TO Official 2.2

My original Streak was 1.6 which I was able to move to the official version of Froyo easily with QDL tool. I recently sent it in and received a replacement that had AT&T's crippled 2.2 on it. I really liked the official. Stage was better and I had hotspot and tethering. Now I don't. I have looked for a way to get the 00 base band from 31 while already at froyo but haven't found a clear answer how to do it. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Most stock ROMs available at the Streak section of the XDA wiki.
You want to read this:
Radimus’s Universal Guide to Flashing a ROM
I would suggest that you try baseband 351 for a stock ROM. The Streak links in my signature might be useful.

Watch out Marvin, theres a troll eSZee. It willl crawl out and quickly tell us that we cant use and dont need to remind anyone of "wiki" links, then it scurries back under that rock under the bridge, lol.
Meantime thanks for that reference link. I have used that too and located a download for a build 14844 that I was looking for . I am rolling back from a 15697 build that reduced my volume drastically.

Sorry
I am sorry to say you have gone from an unlocked or uk streak and now you have a locked streak through you carrier, this is no problem as you still can flash the official rom although you have to downgrade it to 1.6 at&t and then to 1.6 o2 and then 2.1 o2 and then 2.2 o2. Sorry but I haven't got the time to tell you exactly what to do but there are dj steve forums on modacado that you could use skipping the last step!!!
Glad I could help Stevepork
If the replacement Streak was shipped to you with Android 2.2 you do not have to revert to Android 1.6 to install any of the Android 2.x roms.
You can install a 00 ROM on a locked phone. It will not unlock the phone from your carrier, but it will have the features of the unlocked ROM. If the phone you have is carrier locked you will have to unlock it to use another carrier's SIM. I don't have any experience with carrier unlocking, I bought my Streak unlocked direct from Dell.
nameyourflav, what carrier are you with?
