Separate Email & SMS Notifications?

Have searched high and low but cannot find anything. I need to know if there is a way to set the email notification sound and a separate one for sms notifications? I know you can change the sound in the gmail app but it doesn't apply to the main email app, so no matter whether I get a text or email it plays the same ringtone - it's very straightforward on winmo but on Android I cannot find anyway of doing it.
Any ideas?
Set your default notification sound as one tone for email. Set notification for messaging as the other.

All sorted now second post had the answer, your method cannot be used as there is no ringtone settings in the mail app - that's what stumped me first off.

Settings/Notifications/Ringtone. In all messaging/email/Google Talk apps. They can all be changed independent of each other.

Hmmm strange just double checked this Rom on my HD2 and it's there under notifications in settings in both email app & gmail app, also checked my X10 and it's the same so maybe something to do with the rom you're running. As long as you're happy with your fix no probs.

Similar question - is there a way to disable sound for emails and enable sound for texts and vice versa? In volume control under settings, there is only one bar that lets you adjust all notification sound levels.

Does anyone know how to.....

Turn off text message notification in adw launcher?????
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA Premium App
ADW settings...General Behavior...System Preferences, Uncheck Notifications.
Or, if you're trying to turn off sounds for notifications, go to android / phone settings & sound then uncheck notification sound
If you're using the stock messenger, open it, goto the main screen (make sure youre not in a message), menu, settings, uncheck notifications. Or change you tone to silent, if you still want a notification icon but no sound.
If you go through adw settings you will turn notifications off for everything.

Turning off notification doesn't stop text notifications from adw launcher. I have to turn off notification in the system. I wanna use the systems notification cause when you click on it the notification goes away the one from adw launcher had to be cleared.

How to change default messaging app?

I've installed Go SMS on my Desire Z and want to make it the default messaging app, but I can't find the existing messaging app to disable it.
From reading around, I understand the instructions to be:
Go to Settings -> Applications, then select the Messaging appliation. Scroll down and select 'Clear Defaults'.
But if I select the "Messages" application the "Clear Defaults" button is disabled.
???
You don't disable the app itself, you just open Messages (the default app) and disable the notifications in Settings. Then turn on notifications in the SMS app you want to use.

I am assuming you are getting double notifications from the built-in messaging app and GO SMS?
open up your stock messaging app from your app drawer and get into the main screen. from there, hit the "Menu" button to bring up the additional options and go into "settings". in there, you can disable retrieval capabilities as well as notification settings.
Alternatively, I believe you can remove the stock app altogether by using Titanium.
According to GoSMS instructions, do not remove messaging app as it gives GoSMS better functionality. Just turn off notifications on the original messaging app. On other apps that use SMS, such as Contacts, if you cleared defaults, you should have a choice now of what messaging app to use. Choose GoSMS and that becomes the default SMS for that app.

[Q] Double incoming sms messages in inbox

I currently have R-9 2.3.4GB [KP Base 4.5.91] v4a of the rom installed. After I installed the SMS update zip file. Every time i get a text it shows up a two text instead of one. I constantly have to delete the duplicate text.
Any fix for this?
You need to uninstall/freeze the SMS app you replaced.
Go into the messaging app -> hit menu -> settings -> notifications -> uncheck it off. Profit.

Annoying tmobile app notification won't go away.

The app that you use to see your balance and such, every time I check to see data, I keep seeing the same message in alerts, about welcoming me and such. I swipe it every time and it comes back to haunt me. Anyone know how to get rid of it permanently?
Menu, app settings in t-mobile app

Download "Package Disabler Pro" then disable all "TMobile" packages - profit.
Menu > App Setting > "Allow notification tray alerts" - Uncheck it
I would also turn off Diagnostics.
