I just read as I googled "Sprint 2.1 update" I get all kinds of, Sprint releases Moment update 2.1, I thought we were getting the "official bits" first?
Why is it I always pick the phone that takes forever to get anything done on, lol...

and on topic, the moment will probably get the update i think first, its plain android and its much easier to port android 2.1 1:1 like that.
Im aware this is the HTC Hero thread, and I dont care about the moment, other than that fact that it seemed, and Im correcting myself I did not see anything that was officially stating that it was official, I was mearly stating that everything I saw, was saying that Hero would get the bits first, then moment,.
Im sorry if I posted this in the wrong place, but Im a hero user, and it urked me.

All I can say is that it's about damn time. I've been loving 2.1 on my hero for the last couple weeks while my wife's moment has been crying itself to sleep. Looks like they've already rooted it over at SDX, so I'm gonna probably flash that whenever I get home from work.
Of course, what would be *really* nice is if Sprint put out something official for a change.

This is crazy...
Just for you narrow-minded people...
Just because it is not "officially" released on your schedule, doesn't mean anything negative to a company...
Just look at Verizon and the Storm 1.. People kept hounding and hounding Verizon for updates for the phone, but when the update wasn't what they expected, go crazy that they should have done better QA...
It is Sprint's responsibility to make sure all issues are addressed and taken care of... Do you have any idea how many thousands of issues are brought in the testing phase???
Do you know how hard it would be to guarantee a million phones for retail, from a single demo(test) device??
Have a just a tiny bit of understanding and stop complaining....

Narrow minded? Is that would you consider Microsoft? They release software that has no business being in the market place, only to patch it every tuesday when admins like me all over the world find bugs and exploits, and errors and problems. Just release the damn thing, and do incrementals as needed. Take the M$ route and get us what we want!

I would take that with a grain of salt, if I had a dime for every article I saw that had a date in it, I'd have enough money to buy Google and get 2.1
It'll be out whenever Sprint is ready. It doesn't help that they are dragging their feet, most likely for their proprietary apps. I'm not holding my breath.

Maybe ours will be a secret release tomorrow as well. There was no set release for the moment either.

Short answer...your screwed......should have done some research before flashing the RUU. It can't be rooted at this time so no way to go back....
Research would have shown you there are a number of 2.1 ROM's that are out and working....

As stated in time it will be rooted, i can't see why it wouldn't be. And no not all devs are going to the almighty EVO.
Someone should have labeled the update "WILL **** PHONE".exe

Dont be suprised if you dont see root for at least 6 months. Come june 4th everyone's attention will be focused on the HTC Evo and most users will be in the Evo forums and researching Evo and Watching youtube videos on the EVO's performance. All i can say is make do with what you got until the evo dies down and focus on the hero will continue as normal.

T-Mobiles forum is loaded with idiots that read "FROYO Release..." and then go and post it on a forum thinking they have some great insight as far as when it's coming. It's for the UK, it came from a UK source, T-Mobile UK, it all has UK in it. NO US.

I have froyo as well I think if you want some you can go to t mobile with your phone in a cup and ask for some you know how t mob is super helpful they won't say say factory reset to you if you have a problem either and puppy poop is actually really old russian currency fyi

Its not the beta. its good news but not beta good news. Its just saying that the people who are in the beta got the OTA push for testing, but in the meantime...hit up the 2.2.1...
So it would be double the good news for people who didnt know about the DK28..but its kinda slap in the face for people who have been waiting since the beginning and are already on DK28...
We should all honestly foget about froyo...I called it in the beggining of decemberthat we wouldn't see froyo till feb and even I don't be that anymore...its never coming period

and i think we can get froyo if we make a unified effort to complain to samsung and sprint on their online pages

I agree with you but no one seems to believe that! It worked for T-mobile, but here it just seems like no one thinks it will make a difference.
