I had two updatede apps today. They downloaded fine but won't install. Don't know if it's a Market issue or something with my device. Any ideas?
Sent from my rooted DROID2 using XDA App
Ok. New apps will download and install but still have the issue with updating apps.
Sent from my rooted DROID2 using XDA App
Usually an uninstall and then reinstall fixes apps that don't update.
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
Tried that. Also cleared Market cache and data. Done several reboots.

Read in another thread that it could be an issue with Google servers. Has anyone heard anything?

It is a google problem, the same thing is happening on the hero Just wait for them to fix is probably the only thing we can do right now
Same thing has been happening to me. I have just been clicking the update and then immediately clicking on the name of the app I just downloaded and watching the download and install meter and it works for me everytime.

The issue was with apps on the memory card. Had to move them to phone memory, update, then move them back to the card. Annoying.

Possible, maybe why they're having market issues
Not sure it's the Market now. Since I couldn't get Angry Birds to updated I tried getting it at GetJar. That wouldn't install either.
Sent from my rooted DROID2 using XDA App
Ok. Completely lost. ROM Manager successfully updated but Angry Birds still won't.
Sent from my rooted DROID2 using XDA App
I'm having almost the same issues. It started yesterday when I accidentally unistalled the wrong app. When I went on to market to re-download it and found it sat in the ongoing downloads going nowhere along with several others. I cancelled them and started them again one by one. They all downloaded and then failed to install. After that they all appeared in the downloads list but say "FREE" next to them instead of "Installed".
I know that, apart form the first app, all of them are definitely installed. Rebooting the phone made no difference. I also removed the memory card to see if that helped. At that point I managed to install the first app.
I put the SD card back in and the problem returned. Most of the apps I have installed on the SD card only appear in my downloads list intermitently, and I still can't install or update anything from the market with the SD card in the phone. I also am having issues re-installing backups and non-market apk's.
Have I done anything to the phone to make it do this or is this a Google issue? I'm using a rooted T-Mobile UK desire on stock 2.2 with ModInstallLocation set to external.
Thanks for any help or advice.
I also get Free instead of Installed.

It's still the server issues, until Anroid 2.3 is out this will probably be a problem
I hope I don't have to wait for 2.3 given how long it takes Verizon to release an update.

you could re-flash the rom, I've never tried the camera hack so I'm not sure exactly what it entails or how to reverse it besides just starting over.
I'm new to flashing rom and stuff but does it erase all apps

Yes it would unless you back them up somehow.
Are you running a custom rom right now?
No stock rooted why?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I found this:
"Be careful in Service Mode that you know what it is your changing. If you hork up your phone you can reset it by doing a Factory data reset in Settings / Privacy / Factory data reset."
from here
but be careful, you'll need to reinstall your apps if you do that, but if you flashed the rom again you'd have to do that anyways.
Thanks ill probably try a new rom any recommendations preferably one with good battery

I've had great battery with Macnut R13.
I've actualy never had below 24 hours unplugged.
but fair warning: some people say the opposite so I may have just got lucky.
It seems to be about 50/50 have good battery life or dont lol
Also I hear great things about Team Whiskeys roms.
as well as Auxura (Although the guy developing the rom recently stopped development on it)
if you want to stay with 2.1 you might try team whiskey
or if you like 2.2 then any of the above would be great roms
everyone has their own opinion though so you might try a few before you find one you like alot.
Okay one more question... let's say I flash a rom right now... then flash another tomorrow... will the one I did the day before be completely erased when I flash a new one I've heard of people experiencing bugs and this happened ..

Generaly yes you should not have a problem.
but if you do run into trouble you can use odin to start clean, in fact alot of people prefer to use odin to get back to stock before flashing any rom.
but its up to you, I generaly only use odin if things start acting weird (which is next to never)
Wait... isn't Odin how you flash new roms?
Also can u link me to a good tutorial on flashing roms I'm trying to search it from my phone using xda app but its taking forever

At least this thread will serve as a solution to the next person has this issue. Loved the title of this thread, had to respond.
So how did you get the stock camera back? Mine keeps restarting my phone I want to restore it but there is no restore.txt
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Go to your files app.. then sgstools folder there should be a app called camera.apk
Get root explorer go to system > apps and delete camera.apk and the one under it is like camera.odex delete that too.
Now use root explorer to go to sgstools and move camera.API to system apps then go clear all data foe camera app reboot. Done.

Reason I ask is because...I rooted my EVO now everyday I am in the dev section looking for new roms and kernels. I really don't want to deal with that stress with my Tab...Unless I am missing something that's a must have with root.
Tell me...
I don't want to flash a new rom yet as I just got my Tab on Friday. But I must say, rooting is necessary if you want to take full advantage of the device's capabilities. Barring flashing a custom rom.
Applications like Titanium Backup and Market Enabler require the device to be rooted. And those are just the ones I've installed thus far. I'm sure there are many other useful applications out there which require su access.

Is annoying!
Market Enabler and Root Explorer were the deal breakers for me.
Stress? How can rooting be stressful? If anyting, it'll reduce the stress by allowing your device to function properly.

Sweet ! Also for you ladies and gents that don't know they brought it back But looks like it's only from within the device Play Store App, just touch the little circle with the line through it and its gone from your list of apps!
Removed 50 delinquent app's or so from mine!
Sorry if this is recent common knowledge I just was asking awhile ago and was told that this doesn't exist!

No! click that option and it never shows up in your Play Store history again, unless you install it again.
Each time you install an app or install a custom ROM with the ROM creators apps of choice it adds those apps to your play store list of app's! and they don't go away, and if you change ROMs and or try an app your list grows and grows whether you use the app or not it was always there in your list now you can clean those unused apps or unwanted apps out of your list so if you try a lot of ROMs you don't have to weed through all those app's!
I have 12 App's that I install and use, but 50 that I've tried and came on ROMs that I've tried now I have only 12 app's in my Play Store app history instead of 62 apps!
It is a list of apps that you have or had installed, so when you start from a new rom or a full wipe you can go to play store and look at the list to see which app you had installed earlier

I know what it is and can be useful for but when I have to look at all the free versions of stuff iv'e tried then purchased the full app for example XDA-Developers free app and XDA Premium oh great now I got to buy XDA PremiumHD.....lol, all in my list but I only want 1, now I do!
I wasn't aware of this functionality until this thread, so thanks! Now I have removed all those 'old' and 'trial' installs cluttering up my installed list!
I am still pretty new to android, but I can follow instructions, so I rooted the as4 Active.
I removed the bloatware, I think.
What now? What is worth my time to do?
Really all I feel like I need is to play emulators with a PS3 controller, any good free apps for that?

Yeah, I guess reading 100 pages of the same suggestions of how to and what I have already done is worth while.
Everyone says to root the phone, but I guess there is no real use.

The biggest advantages for me were to be able to run Titanium backup, ad block, Helium, Xposed and have read/write access to the system folder. With access to system, you can remove or disable apps you can't normally uninstall. You can also install modified system APKs like the dark dialer.
So there are a few advantages that let you have a more control control over your phone, but it is a few steps short of loading a full blown custom ROM in recovery.

So, I downloaded Dark Dialler, moved the original files, but it wont let me move the new ones into the app folder.
