[Q] Strange behavior of xperia X2 - XPERIA X2 General

Bought this device about one month ago, because i like Sony Ericsson and don't like android OS, so i choose this model
It has lags of course, but upgrading the OS and installing some fixes helped me to solve some problems, but there are some still existing
slide view some times just don't display after pressing the slide view button, its a black screen or some parts of the slide view interface, restarting the device resolving the problem
another one is file explorer problem, sometimes it just don't work at all, by pressing the file explorer icon it just cannot open, i thought this is a built-in explorer problem and downloaded Resco file explorer, it works fine, but one day this software did not display the list of files and folders, restarting the phone resolved the problem
I searched for these problems ,but did not find any useful info, so i hope we can make it together here
thanks

this cab would solve your problem...

why do not you try using Resco Explorer ??
with Resco Explorer all file types associated with what you are looking for can be found in these folders without the need to look for them in all your folders on the device or your storage card.
Instead they are all displayed in these virtual folders from where they can be retrieved easily anytime you need them
Go here to get it

Open File Explorer and find the icon in My Device/Windows/Start Menu/Programs. Then delete it.
jljones,
thank u so much....it was getting really annoying.
Similar problem, I installed Tube application, then updated and had to re-install after a hard reset. i now have 6 icons in total for application under programs, despite deleting everwhere I could find it. Have tried above fix, but it does not display under file explorer either.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards
Richard Racer
maybe the shortcut is hidden from explore or something
try the program totalcommander it let you see hidden files
programs really just show all the shortcuts placed in those dir's
and settings just show all cpl files located in windows
I strongly recommend you for permanent use Resco File Explorer, which can show you ALL files (including HIDDEN). This problem can been solved by means of it.

Missing Bluetooth icon after using PIToday

Hi guys,
I've been playing with PIToday for a couple of days now but I noticed one thing: My bluetooth icon on the Today screen disappeard after using PIToday. The only way to get it back for me is unchecking PIToday and soft reset. This is a bummer!
I've been checking some sites for solutions but could only find the solution mentioned above and one solutions for a 3870. This was putting a shortcut to the bluetooth icon in the startup folder. In the case of a MDA II, there is no such shortcut possible. I checked the registry and Windows directory but the is no .exe file which will start the bluetooth icon. Only .dll. But I don't know where to point it to. :?:
Any other suggestions? Because I would like to buy PIToday but I still want to access my bluetooth from the Today screen.
Wouter
Even though I am a huge fan of Pocket Informant, i experienced a lot of issues with the PI today plug in and stopped using it. It may be incompatability with other software I also have installed but as well as the missing BT icon it also caused instability (lock ups) and the occassional auto soft reset.
In regard to the missing BT icon though PI today is not the only culprit. Users of Pocket Breeze from SBSH Mobile software have reported the same issue. Only way to restore it is unselect the today plug in and soft reset.

Hi Ednap,
Somebody suggested a sort of sulution for me: Using Zenphone. In Zenphone there is an option to turn bluetooth on and off in a profile. And it seems to work!
It is not the solutions but a least it is workable.

hi,
some kind of solution
get the tool "No Plugins today" (h**p://www.ictinus.com/NoPluginsToday/)
install it (of coz)
insert into your registry a new string like this
HKEY_LOCAL_MASCHINE\init\LaunchXX where XX is the highest number of the Launch under INIT (I use "Launch90")
enter as the stringvalue the path to the tool e.g. "\Storage\NoToday\NoPluginsToday.exe" or whereever you have installed the tool
insert a link under \Windows\startup or \windows\autostart (depends of the language) and point it again to this tool. Rename the Link in such way, that it will run last (eg. "XXXNoToday")
ok, thats all, reset your device, and enjoy your Bluetooth icon
It is not a failure by any of the Today-Plugins, which make the icon vanish, it's just a timeout of the btdll, caused by Plugins, which need too much time to initialize itself, so the icon just nor appear.
What does this thing?
after reset it removes the todayscreens, the bluetooth icon appears, and after that the notoday-tool switches the plugins on again.
you need some more time (3-4 secs) after the reset, but, who cares, you got the icon back

Nice work, IvkovicD!
I'll give it a try and I'll post this solution also at the PIToday forum. I'm sure this solutions is a great help for Deje the maker of the program.
B.t.w I tried SnoopSoft Dash Today Advanced today to see if I like it. It is not bad. A bit slow but guess what happens?
My headset profile is now gone! First I thought it was because I had too many Todayplugins but after removing a few and soft resetting it still wouldn't come back. Any suggestions for this one?
Thanks,
Wouter
To create a shortcut to Bluetooth copy the following into a shortcut file (text file with lnk extension i.e. Bluetooth.lnk):
34#\windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,23
and copy it across to your PPC
My headset profile is now gone!

Might it be that your profile is just gone from the Today screen? Check Settings>Personal Tab>Today>Items Tab and see if Profile is checked.
Hi Mark,
No. The headset profile was not there anymore in the list. I contacted Chris Scott, who makes DashToday and the only solution he had for now, was to uninstall the program.
Not realy a good option in my opinion.... Especialy because I just bought the program because there is no trial avaliable.
For your other solution:
I want to make sure that I realy understand. You want me to make a textfile and name it i.e Bluetooth.lnk. In this file there should be the line:
34#\windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,23
Then copy this file to my PPC and presumably to the startup directory?
Just want to make sure.
Thanks,
Wouter

Copy it to the Start Menu folder. It won't bring back your bluetooth icon back but you will be able to access the settings from the start menu.
Thanks,
I give it a try later.

Hi,
I know this effect. I've have this "vanishing", too, if I install too much today- plug ins. Just grab your favourite registryeditor and delete some build-in today-registry entries for today items, e.g. original-task, or some of the other build in ones. If you need it (I don't believe that , make a backup, but really, do you need them?)
reset your device, the missing plugs should appear again...
Sometimes, the OS just do not display some today-plugins, if there are too much entries into registry, even, if you do not activate them...maybe at MS nobody thought that someone needs more then 5 todayplugs at once...
just joking

Dejan
Hi Dejan,
Sounds like an interesting solution. Want to give it a try but I can't find the path to the right regkeys. :?: Do you know were those keys are to be found?
Wouter
Hi Dejan,
I found the reg keys. (HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today) and deleted the Task, Calendar and Owner Info keys. Then I did a soft reset but my Bluetooth icon didn't reappear.
Too bad.
Did it work for you?

Missing Control Panel Applets

Randomly, but becoming more often than not, most of my Control Panel icons disappear...
All the third party applets, and some core system ones are gone...
This can occur from restart, or in the middle of use, but when they've gone, I've got to restart a few times to get them back....
Anyone else getting this problem?
I've got JetWare 1.30 and SPB applications installed.
When that happened, were you able to correctly access the microdrive and storage card correctly, say, with file explorer or total commander?

glad to know it's not just me messing around with it hahahaha
If te settings menu is missing create an empty directory settings in the windows\start menu folder. Now its back!
Same here. At first, thought it was rlToday but still ...
... occurs when I don't use the program. I looked in the registry and saw that HTC places some of the icons in it's own menu. Haven't tested it yet but think the one's in its menu are the ones that disappear periodically. Have you had the same thoughts?

Opera crash

Hi all,
each time I shut down Opera, it crashes, and I have a screen explaining me Opera crach ......
I've the stock release.
This issue appeared one day but I don't know when, maybe a problem with an installed application ????
Any idea to fix it ?
Kaz
Did you install Flashlite 3.1 ? That program makes opera slow and unstable.
thx for your answer,
no flashlite on my phone .......
Kaz
I have the same thing, I have installed quite a few things lately though.
Guess the only option is to hard reset and start over.
i have the same prob. installed latest beta last night still has the same prob. means i cant change the settings and save them, so cant impliment that iplayer fix as a result.
I think I solved the problem. In my case it appeared after I played with build 2808. Opera started crashing on exit and even hanging the device. It turned out that while I didn't have Flash installed, opera.ini still pointed to a non-existing plugin folder, \Windows\Opera9\plugins. So I simply went to opera:config, found the path setting, reset it to default (blank), and the problem is gone!
No, today it started crashing on exit again for no apparent reason, and what's worse, it hangs the device completely!
Does anybody have stock unmodified files so I can try to replace what I have in \Windows\Opera9?
when you say crash, is this when you get the thing asking you to send an error report to m$? if so i get the same thing. i'm unsure whats causing it and dont want to hard reset. the way i olook at it currently is it doesnt seem to crash when i actually use opera so i try and ignore it
Found it!
I had installed that Seismo thing that needs HTCAPI.DLL in the windows folder.
When I removed that, no more Opera crash (yes the one where it asks to send a report to MS)
And I did a hard reset for that!

In my case it was sometimes hanging the whole device. I had to reset it using the button in the battery compartment.
I solved the problem finally (at least it's been working for a whole day without any crashing) by uninstalling .Net CF 3.5 and Gyrator 2

Confirmed. I did it as well. I tried it before removing and got the crash. i removed it, loaded opera, exited it and no crash.
I installed that .dll because VR Hologram needed it.

Same here. Although the strange thing is why it's not crashing with this dll in my \Windows folder.
Maybe it's a trilateral conflict between Opera, .NET CF 3.5 and the dll, and removing one of the three solves the issue?

That sounds plausible, I still have .NET CF3.5 without the DLL and have not had Opera crashing since removing HTCAPI.DLL, I need .NET for more than that DLL.

I confirm. Removal of the htcapi.dll file also solved my opera crash problem.
HTCAPI.DLL versions
Hi All,
I had the same problem with Opera crashing the phone on exit.
today I found that I have 2 htcapi.dll on my desktop that it seems I have downloaded. I was about to delete one of them when I realized that they have different sizes. one around 7KB and the other one around 4 KB.
so I checked the one installed on my HD and it was the 7KB so I replaced it with the smaller one, and so far no crash anymore.
I hope this will help you guys.
I am attaching the file for you to try.
Regards
Bassem
Hey all. I am still having this problem even after deleting the above .dll. Basically when I go to exit opera, the whole phone locks up and I have to hard reset or remove the battery and reset the phone that way. Any suggestions as to what could be going on? It only started this 3 days ago, and I ahven't installed any new apps/programs in the past week.
Edit, solution found in other thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468861

TF3D photos tab keeps losing favourite folder

I have a problem where I have a folder on my storage card set as favourite on the photo tab in TF3D so I can see the pictures on the tab. When I create an activesync connection on disk mode and then disconnect the tab loses the favourite folder and so I have to re assign it through the album>select folders. If anyone knows of a fix for this I would be most grateful if they could share
same thing happens here, i'm thinking maybe changing the default location in adv cfg would impact the tf3d setting... gotta try that

Tried all of that, makes no difference. Must say I'm surprised this doesn't annoy the hell out of others.
You have to edit following registry key without running TF3D:
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum\favorite_folder
For Standard Folder of the X1´s Camera it is:
\Speicherkarte\DCIM\100XPRIA
Just found this out today
Nice find. Changed mine to \Storage Card\DCIM\100XPRIA and it works great.

thanks i tried the change but the key simply reverts back to a value of [CAMERA] once you connect to a PC in disk mode. So i'm afraid it does not solve the problem
that´s right it doesn´t solve the problem
sorry but i guessed i found the solution.
i had to reset my device for an installation - and now it is the same as before [camera]
maybe it is an issue of the manilla-version.
the one i had before has not loose the own images...
well, i´ll try it with another manilla/tf3d-version now
Hi everybody,
i did a try with the TF3DHDB2.cab - and it works for a few seconds...
You have to edit following registry key without running TF3D:
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum\favorite_folder
For Standard Folder of the X1´s Camera it is:
\Speicherkarte\DCIM\100XPRIA
To test the functionality i have often changed pannel, and did 5 resets of my X1.
This will be therefore only a solution if you use the TF3D above.
But if you will connect in usb-mode to the pc or any other device it will reset...
And you will have set to Active Sync Mode again before edit the registry..
... to be continued ...
I have found a bit of a work around to this. GO into album and Set 'all' as favourite. Any photos that you do not want to appear in the tab mark each file as 'hidden' using resco explorer. This way you will get to see the pictures you want showing on the tab. It sticks even after you connect and disconnect in disk mode
