Can't read SD Cards. How to backup? - Touch 3G General

My HTC Touch 3G can't read SD Cards.
The phone is dying.
Before I do a Hard Reset, I want to backup my Contacts and Messages.
But to backup contacts I synchronize with Google account (Active Sync). Since I do not have an SD Card, I've insufficient memory to perform the task ()
For messages, i use Mirosoft My Phone app. The app stucks and i can't get synced.
How can I backup manually this two types of data?
I don't have Outlook, and I will not install it!!

Try uploading to Microsoft My Phone one thing at the time, first contacts then messages.
By the way are you using any winmo 6.5 in portuguese? i cant seem to find any.

same my phone honestly never read any cards other than my bank card

exporting contacts to computer...

i know this should be very simple but for some reason i just cannot figure this out..i dont use outlook btw. is there any other way to do this... im tryin to upgrade to the new 3g sim without having to manually reenter all the contacts.... anyone?
EDIT. ok so even if i have outlook on my computer, but dont use it for email, can i still use outlook to import the numbers.. then export them back to the phone?
...you can use sqb backup to backup and restore only pim contacts.
With pocketinformant2007 you can beam all your contacts out (as vcards) by BT or IR and use 'receive beam' to import them back...
hmm. i cannt even get active sync to export them using outlook now. basically im screwed?
...sorry, missed your 'edit'. Yes, that's possible...
Use the sim manager to save the contacts into TyTNs memory, then change the sim.

so sim manger >menu > save to contacts will keep the #s on my phone but also the memory card. are you sure??!
...my simcard contains only the numbers of my provider. How did you get all your numbers in, because I can only put in (200) numbers and names, by HAND. For me that isn't a possibility. Or do you've got an more up-to-data manager, i've got version 2.30.0...

Do it, then remove your sim and access your contacts. If they are there, and your sim is not on the TyTN, then your contacts are in TyTN's memory.
From now on, I would suggest you to use the internal memory of the phone, and backup with activesync + outlook, and don't store contacts on the SIM card anymore.

He wants to do it the other way round, that is puting contacts from SIM to TyTN.
...i know he wants them out of sim. I want to know how did he gets them in. Because my sim cannot contain contacts with emailadresses etc. My contactsinfo are embedded in windows\pim.vol. It would be nice to know if he can. It would be a nice place to backup when you want to perform a hard reset...
only the phone number can be stored on the sim, not the whole vcard data. Also the number of contacts you can store is very limited. I won't recommend using the sim as backup.
Anyway, if you still want to save contacts to SIM contacts try using the attached cab.
...cheers...

Contacts Backup [JAVA]

Hello can anyone please help me with a contacts backup software which is JAVA based. Actually I wanna transfer my contacts to other phone which is not a WM but is JAVA enabled, so please help me...!!!
P.S please I know abot PIM backup but I need a JAVA based software.
There is very little Java apps.
If your other phone is able to connect to internet via USB or Wifi, you can try Google Sync, which is able to sync to any google account.
Or find this software called 'Mobiledit', which is a really good payware, you can transfer contacts and photos from one device to another.
Or another way is to use this method:
1) Transfer (Move, not copy) your contacts (from your old phone) to sim card
2) Than at your WM device, move your contacts from sim card to your phone's memory and delete the contacts in your sim card.
3) Keep doing that till your contacts have all been transferred to your phone.
To backup, you can use Google Sync.
Cheers and Best Of Luck.
I remember my days doing that, the best way is to use Mobiledit, which I have been using since 2005, but now I just use Google Sync.

How to Copy SMS and Contacts from Touch HD to Touch HD2

Hi Everybody.
I try to copy all my Sms and contacts from my HTC Touch HD to HTC Touch HD2.
I tried with Windows My Phone (Sync).
It worked half way... but once u want to see couple of sms it will slow down.
After that my whole phone almost freeze.
So i reboot and i had to use also once Reset "close to batt." (soft reset?).
I would love to use my new HD2 if i can solve this problem...
Then i can give my HD1 to my Girlfriend
any idea?
Thx in advance
Very very simple: I've migrated from TyTN II to HD2.
Install Microsoft MyPhone on "old" device, sync what you need.
Then install Microsoft MyPhone on "new" device, then sync again.
Voilà!
If you don't want/have online connection, you can use the old good PIM Backup.
I prefer the first method, I've used it to sync:
contacts, calendar, tasks, SMS.
Thx for your reply...
the thing is its not working fully as i wrote before.
thats what i did.
it was super simple... but!
my HD2 is going about 10 times slower once i open a sms.
Sure i have about 3000sms if not more.
But still it works nice on HD1.
So i wonder what i have to change in HD2 to make it work smooth.
HI jisin,
this is a known "bug" on the HD2. If you have to much SMS the device gets very slow.
The HTC Sense is the problem, it can not handle so much sms. I had 1600 and it was very slow. I can not write a sms, the contacts are very slow.
I sync. all my sms with "my phone" software and archived all sms. After a next sync all sms on my hd2 are deleted and i have my backup if i need some of this sms again.
I think this is a good solution until HTC released a hotfix for this problem.
Txfer SMS & contacts
PIM Backup for SMS.
For contacts, if you copy your pim.vol file from device\ (root)folder of your Tytn to the device\ folder of the HD2, voila, all your contacts and appointments are copied instantly, without the potential for duplicate/multiple copies.
I copy it to my sd card, then to device\ using fexploreext, then restart .
You could use totalcommander.
If you've just used MyPhone to sync your contacts and messages from one phone to another, just open the MyPhone web interface and archive your messages there. Once done, you can delete them all and redo the sync. That will delete all your messages from your phone, but keep the archive online.
I know it's a pain that the UI doesn't like us having messages (almost as if we shouldn't be using our phones for things like contacting people!). I'm really hoping that this will be one of the issues that HTC address sooner, rather than later!

Works like charm thx m8! Just wanted to add that the cab file (fexploreext) changes just the original explorer (its not a new program - I was looking for it in the installed programs section and couldnt find it ).

Best backup solution for HD2?

Afternoon XDA!
I plan on a bit of a rom flashing marathon on my phone this next week to see what else is out there and perhaps even teach myself a thing or two.
My question is - which application is best for backing up my contact and SMS (and perhaps shortcut) data for the HD2? On older devices I've used PIM backup to take care of contacts and messages, but with the HD2's Facebook integration will this method work? I'd ideally not have to link everyone back up with their profiles after flashing.
I've heard that SPB backup may have issues if restoring from one rom to another so not sure how well it'd work.
What's your recommendation?
Thanks
Hi there,
Spb backup works great for me. Had tried some others but have been using spb backup 2.0 since my Touch HD. Never had any problem.
HTH,
Sam.
I also use SPB Backup.

I'm more than happy using MS myphone - backs itself up each night so I don't have to think about it. 200MB of storage, can even do pics and vids.
Hi, I use Myphone and Googlesync for my backups. Additionaly installed apps are on my PC or my Marketplace or PocketPCfreeware accounts and my data is on my SD card and PC. I think one of the problems people have experienced when they use full backup programs is if they accidently restore the registery from their old configuration over their shiny new system. Oh and one of my friends lost all his Footprints when he flashed without exporting them to his SD card (using the Export feature of Footprints).
Hope this helps.

How do you use google sync on the hd2? is there an app that I have to download?
Spb backup works great for me too!
Hi, Googlesync involves configuring an Exchange server at the address m.google.com in ActiveSync on your phone. It will then treat your GMail as an Exchange Server and you will have options on what to sync. Here is the info at Google: http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299. 2 key points noted by Google; Back up Calender and contacts first (I suggest MyPhone) and don't try and sync tasks.
Regards.

But using export, you have to do it one by one. Is there a way to export all the footprints?
I found that it is easier just to restore the footprint folder content and all my stuff is back.
By the way, I just learnt that HD2 came bundled with Sprite Backup! At least in the HK versions. I don't know why HTC hasn't talked about it anywhere. It is sitting on my SD card and I never knew that it was there.

Yes, you can restore the foorptints folder, if you have backed it up to start with. That hadn't occurred to my friend
Good stuff
I want to back up my HD2 (full backup). Any software that works to restore everything as it was, e.g. contacts, sms, email account, facebook links with contacts, cab files, quicklinks etc?

Just make sure to copy all the files on your phone to a backup location
Or try PIM Backup: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705
use spb movilbiles
SPB backup is the best, for me.
All full backup apps can have attendant problems if used from one flash ROM to another (ie not just a reflash of the same ROM).
They carry over file associations, registry settings etc and I believe contribute to instability issues.
So be aware and use them at your own risk.
For everything else (PIM, texts, browser favourites etc) MyPhone is sweet.
SPB Backup has an option to restore after a ROM upgrade. Though this doesn't work flawlessly (e.g. not all shortcuts were retrieved and had to be created manually) it does do the important things.
I have always used SPB Backup, never had an issue.
I use Microsoft Myphone. I dont get what the issue with it is. I dont both backing up texts as last time I did it was boring waiting for 4000 texts to restore back to the phone. I store all pics/music on my memory card so its only a case of contacts, bookmarks, calendar etc. All my FB links seems to magically reappear as well. I think this might be something to do with the Facebook tab though. *Credit to who ever built it*
I know im a newb. But how do you restore from my phone. Im new to windows mobile. I lost all contacts, calendar entries, etc. I saved to microsoft my phone, but how to restore? Also backed up to a few other outlets but cant figure out howto restore any of them. LOL
Sprite Backup for me. http://www.spritesoftware.com/
It's perfect, backups anything you want, including SD card. Using this with my Samsung Omnia sometimes gave an error in the report (although it didn't have effect on installing my backup!) but with the HD2 it doesn't even give this error. Backing up is easy, just set preferences and run it! The backup is an exe-file that you run from your device or SD card after you've done a hard reset. It basically saved my life several times after having to do hard resets!

[Q] How to backup phone contacts without sdcard

Hi, got problem, phone is not reading any of sd cards anymore, got android hyperdroid, got phone repaired - replaced screen. Techs didnt touch the software, when i got the phone back, it wont recognize any sd card, if sd card reader in the phone wasnt working anymore (maybe they didnt plug the cable
I see to posibilities 1) try to task29 instal new rom. 2) Give the phone to techs and ask them to checkfixit. Since i need to restore to wm 6.5 i woul like to backup contacts from my phone. every backup software uses sd card for that. But in my case i cannot use sd card since it wont work. I have found 1 program
Wondershare MobileGo for Android it was looking promising, but.. it conected, an worked fine, but.. for some unknown reason it displayed only 2 of my 400+ contacts.. so i cannot use that.. Any one know any way to backup contacts to phones internal memory makink some file, and i could email it to pc ?

actualy you can do more with this software, you can export your contacts as vcf file, and then import and make those from phone to google account
