Samsung Galaxy Tab boot freeze - Galaxy Tab General

Hello,
my Galaxy Tab won't boot anymore, it's stuck at the "Galaxy Tab"/"Samsung" screen. I can't get to it with adb either. When I connect it to USB or to a power jack it shows a battery symbol, but nothing happens (no animation that the battery charges).
I had this earlier but after some button combinations like pressing the menu button and holding the power button it booted. Then after a day it freezed and since then I can't boot it anymore.
There are several instructions how to reset the device, like different combinations of holding buttons or even touch the screen while booting. Nothing works. What can I do?
loony

Do to my flashing antics I have had this as well. I'm on ROTO JME v4 now.
Have you tryed connecting it to the PC and just hit the Volume button?
Sometimes I have to connect and then reconnect to the USB on the PC as well when it is bootlooping.
To get mine into DL mode now I don't need to hit power and Volume, just volume I saw the battery thing as well.

I'm not sure what you mean. If I connect the Tab to the PC it instantly shows the non animatied battery symbol. Whatever button I press, nothing happens.

Bricked phone - no boot up!?

Hi!
I've flashed my phone quite a few times and now I can't get pass the tri color boot up screen. It all started when I started to use task29 for my flashing. Wasn't the first time I used it but the last time I did the phone just ended up with (what it seems like no rom). When I press the power button the phone loads the tri color screen saying serial or USB (if USB connected) I've tried to reflash with both SD-card and USB but it ends up the same way. Flashing reaches 100% (tried stock rom and others) but when booting up it still goes to the tri color screen.
Using SPL 1.56 OliNex.
Hopefully somewould knows what to do. Big thanks!
looks to me like your volume down button may be stuck in, see if it is and what happens after that
Hi. Well the volume button is stuck but it usually works by pressing the power button a couple of sec. now that doesn't work

then you need to unstick the button, it will never boot properly otherwise.

[Q] Recovery's fine... VolDn+Power doesn't work

I feel like this is a stupid question, but here we go anyway. I'm on an LS980 with TWRP 2.6.3.4.
I can boot into recovery just fine, as long as I use adb reboot recovery, or any of the methods to do a reboot to recovery from software. For the life of me, I can't get the volume down + power key combination to work. This would be no problem, except I'm stuck in a bootloop (my own fault), and can't get to either the software solution or ADB.
Yes, I've followed the directions in which you hold the two buttons, and when the LG logo appears, release and repress them both. I've done this about a million times now, in every different pattern and length of delay I can think of.
If I hold all 3 during boot, I get the "hardware control" screen, with a barcode and my IMEI at the bottom. Download mode, using volume up + plug in USB, works as well. Both volume keys have been functioning fine for controlling volume in software, so they are mechanically sound.
Is there any reason the keys might not work during boot? Is there any other way to reboot to recovery? My only idea is to push the stock image to the phone in download mode, and re-root, etc.
Thanks in advance!
Start with the phone powered all the way down (if you're bootlooping, hold the power button for maybe ~10s until there's a short buzz from the vibrator and the LG logo pops up, then hold it down for a few more seconds to power off).
Hold power+voldown until the LG logo appears. Release them then immediately push them again, and hold for a few seconds.
You'll get a 'Factory hard reset' screen that tells you to press Power to confirm you want to do a factory reset. Push Power a couple of times to confirm this. If you have a custom recovery installed, it won't erase anything, it'll just boot into recovery.
I just tried this, and it worked the first time.
Antinorm -
I'm familiar with that process, and have been trying it nonstop! Here's a video; maybe you could critique my technique?
You don't have to hold both buttons after the release.
1. Hold VolDn + Power until LG Logo appears.
2. Release both buttons for a few seconds
3. Hold only Power Btn
4. You get into Hard Reset
5. Push Power Btn 2 times (For executing reset)
After that the phone will boot into recovery.
Don't do this with plugged in USB cable I don't know why, but it doesn't work if you have a usb connection.
Nope, no luck using just the power button for the second press. Thank you, though! I'll write some more detail of what I see.
Initial state: the boot animation is looping.
I press and hold the power button.
The screen goes blank. I continue to hold the power button.
The LG logo reappears for a moment. If I were to release the power button before this point, the phone would restart.
I do not release the power button; I continue to hold it. The screen goes blank.
I now release the power button. This is the phone in its "off" state. If I plug it in to a power source, a battery charge icon and a percentage is displayed center-screen. Entering download mode from this state works. The phone is not plugged in.
I hold the power and VD buttons together. I've also tried pushing one first, then the other, in either combination.
The LG splash displays.
I release both buttons.
I wait an amount of time. I have tried various values from "as quick as I can move my fingers" to "a solid three-count".
I hold either both buttons (pressing them simultaneously), or just power, and wait.
Time passes.
GOTO 1
Does any of that sound wrong?
Weird. This method works for me. But getting into recovery was a bit of a hassle for me too at the beginning. Your doing seems to be ok... well seems like your only chance is adb right now.

Do you know of any way to ADB without an OS booted or recovery? I don't!
IF your battery is low or almost gone - you can't enter in Recovery with those 2 buttons.
So just charge your battery. I'm using CWM 6.0.4.4 and phone charges battery in this mode. It's slowly, but at the end my battery was 100%.
Now I can go to Recovery with 2 button combo. No download mode for me, but I'll open a new topic for that.

Whelp, sorry. Would have thought you can adb while in download mode. Turns out you can't.
Well i don't have a better idea than you with going stock and start from the beginning.

Problem with A3 SM-A300FU

My A3 doesn't "wake up" from stand-by.
If I reset it keeping pressed power up button, it correctly reboots, I can see all boot process and it correctly reachs the starting home page.
If I keep touching screen, open apps, navigate from various menu all works fine. But when I leave it without pressing any button/screen for 10/15 sec (display power off delay) the screen correctly goes black, but there's no way to wake up it again although it seems working. The A3 "under" works because plugging to AC Adapter beeps the sound of charging in progress, PC (Kies or SmartSwitch) detect it correctly; only the screen remains black.
I already tried to wipe and even reflashed last firware with Odin but with no luck.
Is there anything else that I can try (except send it to repair center...)?
Thanks in adv
JYD
P.S. When I call It from another phone, it rings but the LCD remains black and doesn't respond clicking vol +, vol - and home buttons
P.S. 2 Thinks become "funny": Home button, vol + & vol - don't work at all. Power button powers off display, but long pressing it, doesn't pop up power off/reboot menu. Softkeys don't work.
Sounds like SoD. Try installing the app "Wake Lock" and choose the PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK option.

Power button problem

Hi all,
I have accident on sea where one wave splashed a bag where my phone was. After small problems with "laggy" buttons everything went fine and my phone worked correctly except power button. It doesn't react. I couldn't even restart the phone. And when my battery was used I coudnt turn it on. I tried to press volume up + power button million times, or all 4 buttons, and somehow I manage to turn it on again while still I was on vacation. Few times I have entered Android recovery screen, and Power button worked perfectly there (I managed to press power button and select reboot device). And after the phone turn on power button would usually works few minutes and then it would died again.
I have installed software for simulation of power button and it worked ok. This morning somehow I decided to turn off my phone, and I couldn't even imagine what kind of problems I will have to turn it on again. Whole day I am trying to turn it on, but it doesn't react. When I pull in charger then it shows regularly battery status (70%). I am desperate :crying:
I am trying to google or find any solution how to bring it ON again without power button, but without success
Is there any way how could I turn Samsung galaxy S6 Edge Plus without power button?
And what you think, is this some kind of software problem, and maybe some factory reset or flashing might help? Or it is more likely hardware problem?
Many thanks in advance.
Can anyone help me?
I have just found this article which might help me:
How to turn ON Galaxy S6 without using the power button:
When the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge is turned off, press and hold the volume button for a few seconds.
While holding the volume button, connect the Galaxy to a computer using a USB cable.
Wait for your phone to boot to Download mode.
Then press down on the volume rocker to cancel the operation.
After the operation has canceled, the Galaxy will reboot and turn on.
You have successfully turned on the Galaxy S6 without using the power button.

But somehow this doesn't work for my phone? First I wasnt sure which volume button should be pressed, so I tried with both in all combinations and still cant get into Download mode.
But I am glad that samsung had created some workaround if power button is not working. THis used to work on older models I guess.
Is there anyone who might know the way how to turn on phone without power button?
