Need T-Mobile wifi hotspot apk - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't find the wifi hotspot app that came on the mytouch 4g. If someone could upload the apk it would be much appreciated.

It's under wifi settings..

if you don't have the .apk due to deleting it just download Ice-Glacier, un-zip the file, open it up and click "system", click app and look for "WiFiRouter.apk".

Apk files won't download.. Help!

I have downloaded apps from 4shared and worked perfect.
But now when I try to download any apk file it says the file is not supported. And if I force the download it downloads its as .bin
And whatever I do I can't open it.....
How can I fix this.....?
Edit:
After I downloaded an app I manually changed it from .bin to .apk
Do I have to do this everytime?? Why is that? Help please

Please post all questions in Q&A section.
Thanks so much. I had previously installed Astro and had been downloading apk's but then did a factory reset, and reinstalled everything, and couldn't figure out why my apk's weren't installing. such a simple thing caused hours of frustration.

[Q] Borked my Wifi

I wanted to enable wifi tethering with my Verizon Galaxy Tab to my Fascinate. Now I cannot get my Tab to see any networks.
I thought I'd made a clean copy of my original wpa_supplicant. BUT I cannot find it - seems to have gotten deleted.
If someone would post me a clean copy of the /system/bin/wpa_supplicant I would greatly appreciate.
Thanks
If the t-mobile one is the same I can share it just unsure if it is

Hi,
So far none of the modifications i've tried worked, so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
1) Removed "bcm_supp.conf", so it got recreated - no effect.
2) Took a copy of "wpa_supplicant.conf" and renamed it "bcm_supp.conf" since they may have the same contents - no effect.
3) Modified "wifi.conf" with a different path and the file got recreated there - no effect.
[....
SUPP_CONFIG_TEMPLATE=/system/etc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
SUPP_CONFIG_FILE=/data/wifi/bcm_supp.conf ==> SUPP_CONFIG_FILE=/data/misc/wifi/bcm_supp.conf
...
SUPP_CONF_FILEPATH=/data/misc/wifi/
...]
Rebooted the unit after each experiment and attempted to turn wifi on. It tries to scan and finds absolutely nothing (no AP) even though it used to.
Thanks
when i change my wpa_supplicant file to see adhoc networks i faced the same problem and i figured that it was because of the file security settings chmod it to 766 and it worked. you can try this.

I found a wpa_supplicant.conf in /etc/ and a bcm_supp.conf in /data/misc/wifi (not in (/data/wifi like I read in many forum posts). Which of these files do I need to remove or correct in my Samsung Moment 2.1?

for making it see adhoc networks?
No, for the "unable to scan for wireless networks" problem.

Thanks kromosto. It was permission related after all as file replacement with root explorer solved the issue.

Samsung Infuse 4G Mms .apk dump for HD2?

Hey fellow xda'ers, I've been looking all over the place but can't find it. I want a different look to my messaging app, but I don't want to use a 3rd party app. I like the look of the Samsung Infuse 4g mms .apk, so i downloaded the system dump and wanted to exchange my mms. apk on my HD2 with NexusHD2-Gingerbread V2.9 NAND running. But of course, it wont let me download it. How would i go about this? Ill post the .apk file from the Captivate.
you need to change permissions. I will give this a try later
Thanks a lot. I have no idea how to do that so ill just leave it to you.
Well ive tried changing permissions to match the original mms .apk and still nothing. I used ES file Explorer.

LG G2 Hotspot help

Hello everyone i recently rooted my phone and i noticed none of the wifi tether apps work,i keep getting the error "ad hoc". Is there any way i can make it work? Or does anyone know of any other methods on getting hotspot? Also i tried that provision hotspot mod but idk how to change names of files or anything related to file mods. Please assist me.
Bump?
You need a root file Explorer first. Then go to the root directory on your phone. Go to system. Then apps. Find the hotspot ask file and odex file. They will be together. A root file Explorer will allow you to rename the files. You can just add .back to the file signify it's a back up and move the new. apk over to the same directory to take place of the original and make sure permissions are set right. This method allows you to use the default app. It's really easy. If you can copy and paste files in Windows then you can do this mod.

Also if you were able to root your phone then applying the hotspot mod should be extremely simple.

You don't install them. You replace the previous apk with the one you downloaded.

O followed this thread to a tee and got it to work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2456338. I say followed to a thread because I missed a couple minor things the first couple times trying it and couldn't get it to work. Finally got it to work and it is flawless for me now.
