Alternative Launcher
I would love an answer to this as well. I installed Launcher Po but likewise could not get widgets to show.
All home replacement launchers cannot not have widget with S7. Its a known issue, I thought by removing default launcher would help but ended with same result, maybe with custom roms it will fix this issue.

I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out what I was doing wrong.
I've uninstalled both ADW and launcher pro multiple times trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. Then I thought maybe it was to do with the changes Telstra made as mine is rebranded and has apps I cant uninstall.
I have noticed that the icon for the widget is different in the default home screen to in the other launchers.

Widgets just won't work for now. I've tried adw, launcher pro, zeam, etc, etc...just live with the native launcher if you want any widgets for now.
LauncherPro is great for me but yes, no widget use apparently. We are awaiting a new ROM to flash after CWMod comes here.

if you root the device you can uninstall all of the telstra crap...
on the subject of telstra, how **** is it that telstra prepaid cannot tell you how much 3G data you have used for the month... its a bloody joke.
I had the same problem with ADWlauncher and Widgetlocker. After installing AppWidgetPicker it works with widgetlocker. Don't know about the launcher because i removed it. You can find AppWidgetPicker here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780828
Edit: tested with ADW and it works!
With 2. 2 All the widgets work

in my s7Slim any launcher not work... touchscreen freeze at reboot... and is necessary to disinstall the alternative launcher with the Hi Suite or an hardreset.. The touchscreen driver in all in one with the original launcher??? ...in my old Ideos s7 i don't ave the same problem...
Background:
Ok so...all because I wanted stupid Honeycomb theme (worth it BTW...well more-less worth it)
I backed up my homescreens (only the data, because im dumb and didn't do data+apk)
I used ADW Launcher EX as my launcher....so it backed up that data
The launcher built into Typhoons rom just so happened to be EX Launcher...(NO EX)
Main
I restored my data without having EX installed....:-( now im having issues
Firstly for some reason I didn't have market so I downloaded market, and downloaded the new market and reinstalled ADW Launcher EX
Now when I press home screen it asks which to do the task, either Launcher or Launcher EX
Launcher: Has none of my homescreens right (of course because backup is for EX)
Launcher EX: Has
Now I could just use EX which has my homescreens pretty much right and just reinstall my APKs and it would replace the default icons
Now if I use (and restart)
Launcher: It has no dock icons, (so..pretty less-than functional)
Launcher EX: Has dock icons and such...just some "problem loading widget" but thats solved by reinstalling apps from marketplace)
Now I would love to just use Launcher EX, but 2 issues....Whenever I restart the analog clock thats installed with the rom shows "problem loading widget" each time
I have to long press delete and re-place it
Also do you think the other ADW Launcher is effecting the EX version?
Did I mess something up by restoring backup, which had ADW Launcher EX
Is there a way I can uninstall ADW Launcher manually..and reinstall ADW Launcher EX and it be the sole, and maybe it will do right?
I hope I explained....well I think I may have confusingly over explained?
What should be my next action?
Reinstall the rom and start from scratch?....then what steps do I take this time to not get to this same point? (apparently something had to be wrong, because market was not installed for some reason)
figure it out....think thats my best advice ATM
Im having problems with adw launcher forceclosing ALOT. it use to happen maybe once a day but but today its happened about ten times. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.
Hi.
I noticed that my Fancy Widget and other clock-widgets doesnt update anymore when i open apps, documents or other services. Example:
Clock shows 19:21, Widgets shows 19:21. As long as my phone stays on one of the 5 homescreens, the time updates as usual. But when i open an app (browser, mail, gallery, or any other app) or game and return to my homescreen i can see the time didnt update since i opened the app or game. Lets say i open my browser 19:22, i visit some websites, and switch back to my homescreen 5 minutes later (19:27), the widget didnt update the time within these 5 minutes. When i stay on the homescreen and wait for next minute, the widget updates the time correct.
Whats wrong?
I dont have any task-killers installed. I have 2.3.3 rooted. I didnt remove any bloatware.
I take it you haven't moved the app to the SD either?
What app you mean? Widgets cant be moved to SD, because they wont work when placed on SD.
Are you using SE launcher or a 3rd party one? Try installing https://market.android.com/details?id=com.th.android.widget.gTabsimiClock&feature=search_result and see if its the same. I am using that clock/weather/battery widget with no problems.
I am using SE Launcher again. I used ADW Launcher EX, but got to many errors, so i went back to my stock SE Launcher.
Edit: I tried simiClock, it happens too. It doesnt matter what clock-widget i am using. It doesnt refresh/update when apps/games are running and i switch back to the homescreen.
Most clocks do not update if you have moved them to the SD card.
Make sure it is installed on the phone.
My stock weather widget never updates the location in the background, only when launching it manually will it update on the home screen.
@dsswoosh
As i posted just before....clocks/widgets dont work at all when moved to SD. I install all my widgets on the phone!!

You mean Go launcher ex? try launcher pro, i have tried Go launcher ex, Adw and launcher pro and cannot seem to replicate the problems you are describing, also not had any errors or force closes on any. Do the clock widgets that come with SE launcher do the same? or just 3rd party clock widgets you install? If the stock clocks dont work then maybe reinstalling the fw will fix it.
I tried ADW Launcher EX again (yes, its ADW EX ). Time updates in the background as it should. It seems that its only an SE-Launcher issue. Can someone try?
Maybe it is always like this and i never noticed this before while using the stock SE Launcher?! I think i can live with it, but maybe there is a way to fix it without using a different launcher?

Indeed your right its ADW Launcher EX ive always just called it adw. Well using the stock SE launcher my clock widgets update in the background so im guessing its a problem with your SE launcher. Possibly reinstalling the fw will fix the SE launchers bug? Worth a try i suppose.
I've been experiencing this on my Xperia Arc too. It has nothing to do with launchers or task killers in my case (I use neither). I have been able to reproduce it three times:
1. after a week using my Arc, I noticed a new clock widget wasn't updating except when foregrounded, and not until the next minute ticked over. I also noticed a weather widget wouldn't update reliably.
2. after two months without a solution, i completely reset the phone. All good. While playing a game, I received a call. Afterwards, the above widget types wouldn't refresh except as above.
I deleted an unrelated widget because I didn't need it, and (perhaps coincidentally) the other widgets started refreshing properly.
3. a week later, I received a call while using the calendar app. Widgets no longer refresh, except as above. I haven't been able to find a fix this time. Tested widgets like the stock digital clock shows the same problem.
So for me it looks like the common thread is an incoming call while using an app. I would guess this must be happening to a few other people, as it's the same symptoms as the OP described.
If u hav installed beautiful widgets then..
Well after lots of trial and error.. the only solution i found is..
1. uninstall beautiful widgets animation
2. clear data beautiful widgets from settings - apps - beautiful widgets
3. uninstall beautiful widgets..
Living without beautiful widgets is better than facing that refresh problem..
Is there an easy way to replace ADW with a different launcher (Zeam, LP, GO Launcher, etc)?
I know when I replaced it on my EVO, the Sense launcher still ran in the background - and that's my concern with my CM7/nook/sd build. That I'll install one of the other launchers, but ADW will still be chugging away in the background.
Is there a way to completely replace it? Easily?
Don't delete it. I did that once.
Easiest solution: remove all Widgets from ADW. Install replacement launcher. Allow ADW to stay in the background. It'll use little resources.
annnd if your replacement browser were ever to crash, ADW will be there.
Running phiremod 6.2 which came with adw.I prefer adw ex.I just clear the defaults for adw and stop it from running in manage apps.
