Been having similiar results everywhere for 3 months. In nj. Complained many of times and they keep saying there is an outage. BS. your data service is just horrible.

+1. It is not showing you 3g service...
Doesn't the Speedtest app need location turned on so it can select the most appropriate server for you. Otherwise you get the zero test.
Looks like an outage to me. Crappy service wouldn't get you zero, let alone NeGaTiVe ZeRo!!
Can you access any other internet page? It's possible a route between you and the server you're trying to do a speedtest with is down as well.

I don't know where the op is but 3g has been messed up for me tonight. 4g, however, works fine.

The 3g service is lit up. I just know i cant watch a you tube video if my life depended on it. Email is always late, uploading or dl pic messages 2+ hours sometimes. Web pages ...dial up is faster. I just want out.
Try downloading the 4G, CDMA, GSM & WiFi Map Viewer app from Sensorly.com, and make sure to turn GPS on

I never assume when I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue. I'd try to go to a couple of pages in the browser first if they don't connect you may have a sprint issue. I've had the app do this to me to when I was perfectly able to connect to actual sites.

NO pages will load. I hear you on assuming, so i'm going to try to put them to rest. They are sending me another phone just incase it is my phones antenna. Maybe i am wrong. But after reading about all the bad 3g speeds, again i doubt it will fix. Maybe for a few days but then starting all over.

It would give you an idea if your in a dead spot seeing what other sprint users are getting for signal. Or if it is just your phone.

i have been having the same problem here in WI. befere i had my EVO i was on a HERO with everything working ok(slow phone but at least data worked). but, now when i switched to the EVO i no longer had a data connection. the phone wont load any pages; its been a month now.
i have been in contact with sprint about the issue but they arent helping really. i keep receiving error code 104 "sign in failed". sprint claims "software problem" but i dont see how that could be. I used the most recent available RUU and then OTA the latest 3.70.651.1 and still nothing. i even rooted and tried flashing earlier radios with no change. also updating profile and reprovisioning data did nothing. so if nothing changes fast i want to be refunded all this time i have been without data.
My Sprint 3G speeds are balls-deep in fail. I have a Droid 2 on VZW and for fun I ran a speed test tonight and came up with:
.24 mbps download / .05 upload / 299 Ping from Sprint and
.95 mbps download / .25 upload / 128 Ping from VZW
I'm wondering if it's a nationwide issue? My 3G speeds have been incredibly laggy in loads of places (it's embarrassingly slow in comparison to even T-Mobile?! at some points). Hoping it's not a permanent issue of some sort.

This app is just like Google Maps but instead of traffic shows you 4G on a very detailed scale. It's based off reports from other people running the app and helped me find a location 4 blocks away that had reported 4G. I walked over and got 2Mbps down on the SpeedTest.net app.
I live in NYC and 4G is not official here yet so this was a great surprise.
Look for "4G MapViewer" on the Market and grab it! You might find a location nearby and it will help everyone else!

Yeah but still a cool app, I would not have known where to look for 4G without it. There are too much scattered reports all over the forums and this puts it all in one place on a map. I think it's great!

Watch the bars at the top of the app (below the title bar), what do they show? The program only reports what the phone tells it is available. But there is also a "report map error" button under the Menu if the program's bars aren't matching up with your phone's.
Didn't seem to work on my Evo, map looked all messed up.

I like this. So the blue represents where people have traveled with this app enables?
According to the Get Clear app, my 4G coverage is the exact same as what sprint.com says.
Now if I only lived one house over...I'd actually get service! Damn house location...
just installed, seems to be working good so far on my phone.
If you zoom in far enough in an area not mapped well you can see dots everywhere someone tried out the app, it may not be a bad idea to drive around the block some with this on so your house doesnt stand out
Im restoring to my Sense rom now and going to see if there's any 4G where i stay at. Would suck to have a 4G phone and can't use 4G to either Nov Or Dec or better yet next year.
Hey, anyone else have network issues with the N1 today? Seems like none of my calls or texts are going through, but I have signal and everything. I went outside to use 3g, worked for a little and then stopped.. So I did a airplane off/on and now the data wont connect. Went back inside it connected again but text and calls wouldnt work.
Anyone else having any issues?

I've only had issues in my house, but that's because my house is a service-killer. No bars anywhere downstairs, but almost full 3G bars in my room. lol
Have you tried the new 5.XX series radios yet? I'm running 5.08 and notice little to no data loss or other data issues. There are moments of weirdness, but a quick disable/enable of mobile data does the trick in the most severe of situations.
Gonna upgrade to 5.12 now and see what's different (apparently touchscreen ****ty-ness is fixed). Worth a shot. Use fastboot though, never flash a radio in recovery, leaves too much up to chance.
I feel ya.. I was in universal last night and I had 4-5 bars of 3g and no internet, or at least really slooooow internet when it did work. T mobile needs to ramp up Orlando's and others servers/towers. When too many people use the internet at the same time it kills the towers bandwidth. While at Universal's Horror nights I figure everyone in the 45min-2Hr lines for the houses are using it. So that is bad. But once I left Orlando it worked fine.
Had Froyo Radio... Flashed new 5.12 today one and seems better. At least Agps is working much better.
Glad to know it's not just me. I had been searching on the Internet for people with the same issues and decided to come here. I'm in stl and my data connection will either work or not. Ive tried turning off the phone and then back on, airplane, etc.
Right now it works but it's nowhere near the 4 megs i was pulling last night, its hovering around 500 Kbps when it decides to work. Im sure tmobile is just upgrading some stuff.
Looks like its just Orlando where problem exists.

Lol wayyyyyy off topic, sorry OP
I use to tether my 4G to my computer so I can play some TF2 after my work and school was done. I would normally get 110-150 which is very playable
Now I don't get lower than 300 which is unplayable. What gives?
I've tried HOSTS FILE fix
I've tried ##DATA# 0.0.0.0 and 0 in appropriate fields
And still nothing. I've checked my computer and use programs to block connections except to where I'm allow to prevent bandwith leeching
I've use task manager on my phone to kill unneeded programs but nothing!
Anybody else with this problem? This goes alongside my TERRIBLE download speeds

I was just going to say, even 100 ping is awful. You may not NOTICE lag, but its there, and its just enough to get you killed more often. You would need ping to be below 50.
And no, there is nothing you can do about it. That's the nature of wireless data. It takes a LONG time to send and receive data constantly from a tower that could be miles away. Do yourself a favor and get a cable or dsl connection.

The Verizon LTE service is supposed to be the fastest out there.

Man LTE is sooooo amazing. But the uploading being 22 is f**king awesome!
just thought I would clear this up, The high uploads are due to the speedtest app not being able to measure LTE uploading correctly.
These scores are completely inaccurate.
It might as well say 99999999.9999999mbps upload.

Oh that makes sense. But I get those download speeds on my Moto Atrix!
Is anyone else having a problem with their atrix switching to Edge? I'll try to run a speed test or watch a video and it will just randomly switch to edge, then no signal, then back to H. What's the deal?
That was the point of this post. Most atrixes (Atrices?) are faster than this. Mine gets 5 down
Intersting results - mine were much different in Phoenix AZ.
I think in general the speedtest app is broken. When doing it on the webpage I was getting more consistantly between 15-20 MBps download and 5 MB upload.
I am actually giving back my atrix tomorrow. Best phone I have ever had, but the network is not even 3g speed out here (even with a microcell in my house I still can not get over 1.5 MB download and we all know about the stellar upload speed)

LTE uses a single channel(SC)-FDMA while WiMax still uses OFDMA for their respective uplink signaling. OFDMA is what 3G uses, hence why you can still get an accurate reading on the Evo.

Hey, I'm currently working with a HTC HD2 with a Froyo Android on it and having difficulties in the basement.
I've recently moved into a new rental house (am a University student) and was given a room in the basement (not much choice there since I signed up late for housing). Anyways I've noticed I get 1-2 bars in the basement which is fine (so I thought) but I'm not receiving any text or phone calls! Whenever I walk outside with my phone there's multiple texts waiting for me and whenever I meet my parents they question why I never pick up the phone (I dont even have missed calls showing).
Now with my closest friends I have whatsapp/fb chat/google talk which is fine but for employers who I give my resume to, or friends I occasionally meet up with they have no way to contact me :S so was wondering if there's any way to boost my signal in the basement?
I've read about a few signal boosters and repeaters but they are costing hundreds of dollars which is out of my price range but really do need to fix something or my social life is going down the drain next semester :S
Thanks in advance
forgot to mention, it wont even send texts as well at two bars... so sad T__T

And yea was debating on going pure WiFi but seems like a lot of hassle to have two different numbers, or is there a way to keep same number?? Sorry not very sure how WiFi networks work, if you could recommend a good one that'd be great

Most T-Mobile smartphones have built in wifi calling. No porting or different numbers. You just connect to a wifi network and enable it in the settings.
