Galaxy Tab Eurofirm In Call Volume - Galaxy Tab General

Hi Folks, I noticed today my GT speaker in call volume gets low. Volume levels are set at max. I check the music, videoplayback and media volume and all is ok. The only problem is calling.
Thinking it was after I used a Samsung WEP450 Bluetooth to make calls. I just don't used it today and noticed this.
Mine is a T-mobile USA GT, running ROTO JMEv4 Firmware. Anyone else with this situation?

Can anyone post the dial code (*#@@@@@@#) to get the service menu that lets you change the default volumes?

I just fixed it. I called my self via the GT and Up the volume at the highest level. Then Down two levels and the In Call Volume from the Speaker get fixed. Woot Woot!
I don't know what could be happening. If I Up it to the highest turn lower. But It's fixed by Now... again, Woot Woot!

speaker in call volume hack = (*#*#197328640#*#*) I'm not sure what values change there. But this is the service menu!

Enter that code into your dialer and the service menu opens. Tap [5]Audio [1]Handset [1] Volume I changed all the volumes to 92.

When you say "all" you mean to row #3 SRC I2S1 RX Volume and #4 DST Speech TX Volume?
If so I do that and doesn't fix the problem. I just maintain using my original fix. I don't know what happened! I had a friend with the same trouble and I give to him mi FIX and he fixed it. Well "fix" in quotes...!!!
But by now I can say Woot Woot!

any reason why 92 is the max and not 100?

I have a Verizon Tab "no phone" How do I get to service mode

Changing the in call volume in the service menu does nothing. Also, if you reboot your changes do not get saved.

Woop Woop!
Just called myself and set the volume to 2 down from highest and it now sounds a lot louder!!
Thank you!
ps This wasn't the case when I had the stock Samsung firmware.. sounded fine then.. It only started when I started all this custom-romming-schtomming.. maybe its a kernel thing? I'm on modaco at the moment.

You are correct - 100 is the max. I never go max on volume (crackles, distortion, etc.).
There are several volume adjustments, just look around in all the menus. Reboot when you are done experimenting.

I must be getting a placebo. Or standing too close to a few explosions did damage.

Go Audio > Speaker > diamond solution and there is also a setting there for Voice Booster.

Enlarge Earphone Volume (Engineering Mode)

I just read a thread from other firum in Taiwan.
People said the low earphone volume can be improved by engineering mode.
Here are the steps.
1. Make sure your X10 is in Screen-Lock.
2. press button as the following sequence
m b b m b m m b
m: menu button b: back button
3. Then you can chose "service test" --> "Earphone"
adjust it by the volume button.
I had no problem of low earphone volume before.
So this is just for those who encountered this issue.
If this works, this problem can be solved by firmware setting.
[Update]
After test, this just shows that earphone issue is not from hardware.
Wish SE solve this by 2.1 update.
I think it's easy (maybe not easy for SE guys... )
Adjusted the volume, but unfortunately no one to call right now. Will see if it works soon.
Could you link me to the forum post as well? Thanks!

Wow ...excellent
Where do you guys get this stuff... engineering mode? ....wow... it works too
Excellent post
you can download 'any cut ' from the market and just add a shortcut to the desktop.
any cut > new activity > earphone
I dint think it fixes the.low call volume problem though.
I think in R2BA026, the Media Volume Setting is already at it's maximum. Mine does when I opened it and I don't remember adjusting it...

True. It won't save the volume setting

Doesn't work on my x10i for some strange reason.
Yeah.. too bad they won't save it..
Maybe u need root for that
I can adjust the in-ear volume while calling. Just call yourself, keep talking while pressing the volume up button. Some bar saying in-ear volume will be going up.
Also, didn't it say media volume instead of in ear in engineering mode.
If you can't get into engineering...I couldn't also, but then I noticed that I wasn't pressing the menu button(left), but the home(middle) button...

[Q] Turn the volume up?

EDIT: Finally I've pasted the solution from user cerato a few lines below. Thnx all!
Don't know if it's only my unit, but the volume is pretty low in max lvl in comparison with my old hd2.
Is there a way to boost the maximum volume?
thnx in advance!
Edit: aditional info by cerato, thanks!
Here's the trick folks. Really
======================
Increase Speaker Volume
•Enter the phone dialer
•##634#, tap Call.
•Enter code: *#0002*28346# or *#0002*28345#
•Tap: Get, under the Device Gain (max/min)
•First Box: 7
•Second Box: change to 16000
•Third Box set to 0
•Tap: Set
•Be sure that audience.cfg is set to on
•Tap: Start
•Tap: Home
•Restart your phone.
•After reboot, enter the same menu and just tab get to verify the settings
Increase Headphone Volume
Note: Make sure your headphones are plugged in first
•Enter the phone dialer
•##634#, tap Call
•Enter code: *#0002*28346# or *#0002*28345#
•Tap: Get under the Device Gain (max/min)
•For "device gain" leave number 5, set 1100 (max) and -1100 (low)
•Tap: Set
•Verify that AUDIENCE.CFG is ON
•Tap: Start
•Tap Home
•Restart your phone.
•After reboot, enter the same menu and just tab get to verify the settings
Enjoy
I agree it needs a boost. Maybe someone knows a way to boost it in the dev settings?
##634# TAPE CALL
in diagnosis mode tape *#0002*28345#
clik read
in system gain 7 put 10 clik get
in class gain 7 put 10 clik get
in device gain 7 put 10 clik get
start et stop"
how can i revert this change? it's too loud and it changed the volume level from the whole system.
is there a way to change only the front speaker volume lvl?
the rear speaker volume and the one from the headphones are definitely okay and loud enough...
pls help
Interesting, the same code (*#0002*28346#) doesn't work on my UK Tmobile Omnia 7 :S
*#0002*28346# worked not for me ( German 16GB T-Mobile ) but *#0002*28345# does bring up an sound tuning screen
thnx it worked!
*#0002*28346# didnt work for me either but *#0002*28345# gave me sound tuner.
is this the same menu as *#0002*28346# is for others.
I discovered somthing amazing for anyone who cant turn off shutter noise on their phones: go to the audio tuner and press write to set all values to 0. the camera now dosnt make a sound ... only problem is nothing else does either so dont do it!!!
would anybody be so kind as to go to the audio tuner and press the read button at the top and give me all the values so that my phone can work again??
Thankyou!!

be careful if you try it yourself
EDIT: actualy the main speaker only works 50% of the time and I havnt yet worked out when and why it changes
if anyone knows anything i could try please let me know!

I would like to know if this is possible too.
During a phone call, raising or lowering the volume seems to have no effect at all on front speaker. Can you notice any difference?
How can we adjust the volume during a phone call?
Can we do smth about the volume of the microphone? People tell me that they don't hear me very well...
hey is there any way to make the headphones volume louder ??? cause this one only turns speaker volume up, if there is any way to do it please let me know its highly needed
new here, yeah my sumsung is a bit low on the headphone.. please help.. as i don't understand how those turning tip in above post work
i followed the instructions, but the volume remains de same!
has this happened to anyone?
my Omnia 7 has a poor volume during calls... in crowded places it's hard to ear the other person in call...
An overall problem seems to be the max volume during calls(Confirmed by colleagues as well...). The rest like games,music,... is really on a different Level when on max...
Seems to be, there is a chance to mess things up a little bit with the posted codes...
So, can we boost the volume for calls only ? I really dont want to affect the other volume settings...
thanks
Hey guys, i dont know what happened but now i only have 2 volume options. That is the volume at 0 or max volume. for eg, if i use the rocker to vol. lvl 0, it is muted like it should, but from vol. lvl 1 - 30 (or whatever max is) the vol. lvl is the same and is amazingly loud. and doesnt change
EDIT: a simple reboot fixed the problem. Thank god cause as i was trying to fix this, i felt as if the speakers were dying
actually I have the opposite situation, I find the volume, even at 1/30, too loud.
Playing with those settings sometimes produces changes sometimes not...
Screenshots anyone?
Can anyone post a screenshot of the original settings in the sound diagnostic screen? I would like to reset the phone back to the original settings.
A reboot of the phone does not restore the orginial settings.

Fix for low microphone volume

So, it seems I have finally found out how to adjust the microphone volume on the phone.
I have posted the instructions on my blog. If you try the solution it please respond if it works or not.
This might be veey interesting. I changed 88 to 100 but will only be able to talk to someone tomorrow.
From personal experience both sgs ans sgs2 have low treble input sent to peer. Ots annoying.
Posted from Galaxy S II
tried, we will see...
Interesting, there's an option for speaker receive volume too...
I tried it but it didn't work on audio recording (Hi-Q MP3 Recorder).
There is some way to adjust mic volume of voice recording?, My old SGS recordings were a lot louder than on my new SGSII.
Great thank you so much for the post. It helped me out.

MY SGS2 DOES NOT HAVE THIS VOLUME ISSUE! PEOPLE HEAR ME VERY WELL, SOMETIMES THEY ACTUALLY LOWER THE VOLUME IT IS SO LOUD!!!
Seriously, how much better does it get? I am not in a noise free environment at the moment, how big of a gain does this produce? Does this fix work with the genuine wired headphones?
i thought this fix was temporary only, after a phone reboot the fix resets to default ?

I must admit...in all the smartphone that i have ever used.....This is the only phone that i have never rebooted except when flashing roms/kernels etc...
I never reboot! I did today, because I wanted to calibrate the battery for the first time and I let it die. So I let it die after 24 hours of use, and then when it turned on it rebooted
I love my phone

It works but sadly as others have already mentioned, after a reboot, you have to re enter the settings, which is the only draw back, and am one of those who reboots the phone on a daily. Is there any way of making this permanent even following a reboot?. I can imagine its probably difficult, but thought I'd ask anywhere. Thanks op.
I'm actually looking for a way to lower the input gain, as my voice comes out distorted on the other side. Any clues? Besides the obvious "Turn 88 into something lower, I tried 70 and didn't work"
I don't know how the values can be saved so that they survive a restart. Personally I only restart my phone when it runs out of battery, or if I've done flashing that requries a reboot. If I need to disconnect from the real world airplane mode is used.
So, has anyone had any luck using this method? Seems to work for me.

That's quite the opposite problem Other than what you tried I have no idea. Sounds like a faulty device?

Actually, I tried 20 yesterday, and it did solve my problem!
Now sound is crisp and undistorted!
The question is,
1. How to make it stick reboot.
2. What do the rest of the volumes do? Vol0_1 0_2 0_3 etc, you suggested to edit number 5. Why specifically that one?
1. Still a mystery
2. My guess is that there are certain levels of output, and that all of them should be adjusted according to the other to have a linear line. The fact that I wrote that only 5 should be edited was simply because that worked for me.
First, great thanks hpe !!
I got my phone 2 days ago and got same problem.
ppl could not hear me well.
I tried your solution, hope it will help (tried 1-2 calls and seems ok).
I have noticed also that when you talk you should be
stable with your hand and your face , I mean,
it should be with fix distance between the mouth and phone, not important the distance but it should be stable during the call, if not the AGC comes up and down and the other side can't hear you well...
About save setting,
Maybe there is ini file or something (rooted phone) that can be changed to keep value after reboot, I have noticed in the 2 days I have the phone that I had to reboot phone after install application to get it works well.
I've follow the hpe solution but i still have volume problem
My specific problem is:
On Normal Mic call > very low volume... on my SGS2 with android 2.3.3
But with Speaker call > clear (no problem)
Very strange!! I can't be able to solve this problem.
I'd like to precise that with other voip app like bria or "csip simple" i have no problem, mic volume is perfect..

Speaker call uses different mic settings (since you've a higher distance between your mouth and the mic while using speaker), so it might just the "normal mic call" volume setting which fails.
I have understand and many thanks for your reply but it's strange that those settings works perfectly with the other voip applications..

Lost in Forum..need some answers

Made a transition from N1 to GS2 and not sure I actually liked the phone. 4 days now and trying very hard to keep it. The dev forum is huge here with 2 different sections and struggling with some of the tweaks and mods.
1)the volume on phone earpiece during call is very low. Even jacking vol all the way upto 100%, I sometimes struggle to hear other person properly. Also to add is the voice of call sounds very "distant". Anyone experiencing this?
2) is there an option to turn off "auto rotate" for dialer?
3) any settings for selection of notification widget?
4) how to change lockscreen to default android one?
much appreciated replies. Cheers.

Yes, I miss stickied dev list of updates of all the ROMs that can be seen in other device forums. Guess it will eventually pick up when the device matures.
2) 3) No, you will have to switch to a custom ROM as far as I know
4) You might have luck with the WidgetLocker lockscreen app.

Volume setting was resistant to being permanently reduced, so I just kept poking and prodding at different volume settings and finally success. Good luck....

Interesting. You should have 3 dots in the upper right corner for more settings. Perhaps your country doesn't require the warning?
The high volume warning is an EU thing, annoying AF.
No 3 dots in volume settings either. Though I have seen this warning before on my a50. I am not sure if it appeared also for my s10 for first time or not but now it doesnt occur anymore. In my country, it gives that warning only for first time you try to raise the volume I guess.
Samtweak v2 worked for me
I'm using a UK Vodafone S10 Plus, ive just checked my volume. I don't get that message at all on mine. Maybe cause I use the app Volume Boost by Goodev. Only use it to increase the volume, didnt know it even had that feature, never checked til just now, or maybe it's not the app and I didnt have it in the first place. Don't want to uninstall it to find out. Never bothered me that much anyway.
