youre going to have to reflash clockwork recovery. either fastboot it, adb, or through the terminal emulator on your phone(if it still boots). btw, wrong section to post in(i think), this is a development section

Can I ask which ROM (and kernel if relevant) you were running? This has happened to me for the first time tonight (after the phone locked up earlier). I am running CM7 Nightly #25 and the NetArchy 1.2.1 (CM7) kernel - I'm wondering if this is related in some manner?
Incidentally, the dropping back to 3.0.0 trick worked a treat.
you might've left "Erase recovery before flash" on accident in Rom Manager.
I've just had the WiFi tell me that there was "an error" when trying to start it. I'm re-rolling to just CM7#25 on it's own (with a full wipe) to see if that resolves it for me.

Yes - several times.

Now, everytime I reboot my phone, it goes into clockwork mod everytime instead of just booting up. Am I stuck SFB'ing again?
I thought I was the only one. Mine does it to every time. I have asked for assistance but no one has responded.
have you tried to wipe from recovery? or restore a backup?
Yeah, was going to say, you didn't backup?
You cant get past CW or it just boots into it first and you have to choose reboot sytem to get past it?

All you have to do is run droid bootstrap and that will fix your problem. Once u run bootstrap DO NOT CLICK ON REBOOT RECOVERY. Just run terminal emulator and reboot or just power off and power on and u should reboot just fine without going into recovery.

UPDATE: So this worked initially (yesterday). I ran the bootsrap. I then went into terminal and used SU to 'reboot'. Booted right into the OS. However, today I decided to power off and back on and it went back into CW recovery again! I mean, not a showstopper by any means but slightly annoying still.

weird I have rebooted my phone a few times and pulled the battery and my DX goes straight to OS...try redoing what i posted earlier and see if the second time is the charm.
related question. what if i DON'T want it to goto clockwork every time i reboot. i like to use quickboot. right now if i select reboot (as opposed to recovery) it reboots to clockwork.
i still want clockwork, but only when i select "recovery" from the quick boot program.
hope this isn't a hijack... figured it was along the same lines as the OP.
Byproxy... That IS the SAME question as the op... Just sayin...

In clockwork recovery there is a backup function. Its basically the same thing as a nandroid but it does have a few more features like only restoring your data.
yes,its in clockwork recovery>backup/restore options

This sound like you are using rom manager to me from the android os. Is this right? If so it also (could be or) sounds like you are entering the default recovery rather than clockwork. Did you install clockwork via one-click or alternative method first?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
One click but I have installed the the one from rom maager..
When the phone reboots from ROM Manager, you need to hold the camera+vol down+power buttons before it starts rebooting.
I tried it already,I just noticed it says android system recovery (2e)
Try turning your phone off than turning on with the three button method. Hold power+volume down+camera. That should get you into clockwork. Lettering should be green and not blue like stock recovery. If it appears blue than you dont have clockwork installed. Try the one click method. It has clockwork redirector which means any apps you may use that has recovery options it'll take you straight to clockwork. Hope this helps.
I have tried that and yes the letters are blue and says android system recovery 2e..is there a manual .img I can flash via adb or terminal emulator I have tried one click that's how I rooted but no luck,I tried rom manager install recovery but no luck.,am starting to miss amon-rec.img but loving the epic so far ..help guys please....the only I can say I miss about the evo is 2.2 but not much

Try the all in one. Its a sticky in the dev section. It roots and installs clockwork with redirector. Or if you can find the one click clockwork recovery alone. Maybe that'll help. Don't ue rom manager so I'm sorry can't help on that app.

It sounds like you don't have CW recovery installed properly. You can't do it from rom manager if you are on stock kernel. Use the newest one click, I think its like version 2.5.5 or something like that. Then boot while holding the 3 buttons. It should bring you to a screen that looks very much like the amon ra recovery (minus the carebear).
Hold down all three buttons until it boots to CWM. If the blue letters still come up then you don't have CWM. The script for the CWM redirector doesn't work properly on my Epic.

Unsure what that means. Does rom manager even install cw? Try the one click. You appear to be doing the right combo to get u to the recovery screen but it seems the default is where you are going to. One click root and cwm with redirector that puppy and let us know how it goes.

i've flashed CM7, and i reboot it, .. after 15min, the screen is the same, what should i do now?is it normal? i'm getting panic
What screen, if it's HBOOT screen, maybe something wrong in the boot process.
If it's CM7 splash, it was being installed.
use adb and type in "adb shell" and then type "logcat -C", if the log is running, the phone is booting

okay, first try to install setCPU, free for xda member, search in the forum
set the min around 160 or >200Mhz and max ~600 or anything you want.
set 3 profile
Screen off: 160-~300
Baterry<20%: 160-~400 or 500
Temp >45: 160-~400
it'll help because you optimize the CPU use.
turn-off some animation, don't use live wallpaper (CM7 use it by default, so turn it off)

If you want Google Apps like Market, GMail etc. Then yes.
so the question, with the newly build cm7 that just release few days ago, is it better then the cm6 rc2? I read on the forum that cm6 was better but that was before the new cm7 rc1 release. any input?
I am about to flash cm6 to test, as far as cm7 I have issue with navigon not working, some app crashing, I have yet to test extensively.
I would love to hear some feedback on this as well.
RA
It's going to be a little different for everyone as far as connectivity, GPS, etc. There's a FAQ with suggested fixes for some of these issues. Obviously there are features in CM6 that aren't in CM7 and vice versa, so it sorta comes down to personal preference. Quite frankly, both are great.
That is interesting how the phone are not consistent I like cm7 more then cm6 but cm7 is giving me some issue I have to reboot many time
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
The gps issues in cm7 can be fixed by flashing the newest nightly.
http://mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=glacier
They're both great roms, cm7 is just the newest stuff.
Clockwork recovery 3.0.0.6 is fully compatible with both froyo and gingerbread roms and nandroids.
On any flash, wipe data/factory reset, flash rom, flash gapps, then let it sit on first boot and give it some extra time to finish loading before setting up. Reboot again after you've signed into google and done the basic set up.
I think I'm gonna flash cm6 rc2 first as well before I go to cm7 rc1. I'm aware that they're both different him their own way, so I think it'll be best if I gave both a try.

both are great. I use both, right now on cm7. it maybe buggy depending on what you do. for the apps i use, it's ok but cm6rc2 is pretty much solid all around. upgrade cwm recovery 3006, very easy to switch.

No. DO NOT UNZIP. Rename the file to pd15img.zip and place on root of your sdcard. Then boot up as you described, DO NOT SELECT FASTBOOT.
When you boot up into hboot, the phone will automatically detect the file and ask you if you'd like to begin the update.
Make sure that your windows pc displays file extensions and that you are naming the file pd15img.zip and not pd15img.zip.zip (with the second .zip being invisible)

Yes there's a fix in there towards the bottom of the first post.
If you want to flash another recovery, turn your device on into recovery, connect it to your computer and use adb to push the file to your internal storage.
It should be something like "adb push filename.zip /data/media" then you can use the borked recovery you're on to flash the one you pushed.
