Saw that on jts aosp that it is not ok to tether on his build, does this go for dl30 as well?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
From what I understand yes... currently the kernel has a way to tell if tethering is taking place...
stupid question. I can still teather with what I'm running correct? or can they now detect me too?

You're fine, it's DL30-specific.
I'm curious what all it detects, as in does it just detect the hack to let you use the 3G Mobile Hotspot app for free? Or does it detect most of the market apps as well, like Barnacle, Wireless Tether, etc? And, of course, is anyone working on ripping that out yet?
Whoever gets to the bottom of this and fixes this will most definitely receive a donation from me.

Does this apply just to jt's aosp, or does it apply to the stock verizon build that adrynalyn posted as well?
I believe it applies to both, with Kaoscinate being the only Froyo-based rom not impacted- although I don't know for sure.

never flashed a kernal before without flashing an entire rom with it, so hope this isn't a dumb question. How will this affect my app data (assuming everything goes right)? Will I have to reinstall everything?
Excellent.
Does this work on the stock JF6 Captivate?

Didn't even catch that. I'm on JF6 too.
since this is a custom kernel, does this suffer from the bug affecting other non-OEM kernels (wake up lag)?

I can't do the custom kernel with an update.zip or I would...

Hmmm, I flashed the pit/pda, flashed the signed zip, and I don't see it in my app drawer. Is it supposed to be somewhere else?

Thanks for the great work, donation sent
It works for me on JM5 just had to flash the kernel
Great work! I'll have to donate after some sleep
How did you fix/work around the wake-up lag?
Gears,
I have done the SuperRooter mod, will this effect that? Can I do this right on top of that?
I did it over superrooter and no problems so far.
Thanks OP. I love that the captivate is now 100% hacked (unlock/root/wifi tether/win/win/win)
Can't wait for Froyo and the brains in this community
Ill give this a shot asap. Will let you guys know how it installs on top of ext2 lag fix.

This belongs in the general section
My first impressions:
Better battery life
GPS is even a slightly bit better
3G seems to stay locked on a bit more, though not as well as it should be. BUT, I have seen it get stuck in 1X mode, which DJ05 didn't seem to.
Anyone else have specific questions ????
z4root doesn't work with it.

You might have a hardware issue going on there with your GPS. Faulty antenna maybe?

Might want to get it checked out. Sounds like it.
I have been using DL09 this morning and have not been impressed. Signal seems sketchy compared to DJ05 with the 3g fix. I used the 3g fix with DL09 and still nothing to write home about. Later I will switch back to DJ05 until aosp is straightened out or froyo hits. DJ05 and superclean with otb voodoo is a nice ride.

Sorry, but what 3g fix are you referring to? I want a 3g fix lol
Is there a way to root DL09?
I have DJ05 and I dont have any signal problems at all.
In fact I just went out to our property that I hunt on (it's in the boonies) and got better signal strength that I did with my BB Storm.
So I dont see where Dl09 would be an improvement?
Also, GPS usually locks in 2-6 secs inside!

A good friend of mine is getting the Fascinate today, and I was going to get her rooted and running 2.2. I've been digging through the Dev forum here, but I wanted opinions.... which ROM do you use, if you use any?
Also, any good theme suggestions? I'm looking for something lighter, whites and reds or blues would be wonderful.
Thanks all!
Superclean 2.9.2. Themes would either be HTC Sense, Gingerbread, or Nitro's themes.

I'm using the latest Superclean as always and right now I'm really diggin Nitro's Ultimate Honeycomb.
Cool.... we'll give Superclean a shot and I'll run those themes by her.
Any idea also if Fugutweaks works with it? I use it on my phone, and wow, does it make a difference...
SC 2.9.2 with Nitsuj17's Gingerbread
I suggest against rooting someones phone and flashing anything. It leads to nothing but problems. Instead lead them here and teach them to do it on their own. Otherwise ur going to have her calling you with questions our something not working yadda yadda yadda

As to I. Works like a champ. Maybe my phone hung on to it from god knows where.
Okay, I had to buy a refurb Epic and EL30 is snappy. For example, the applications populate instantly when I choose Manage Applications. GPS actually works too. It's very polished and refined. This will definitely hold me over until the SGS3 releases later this year.
Fyi- I paid $162 from Ebay. The phone looks absolutely brand new.
I thought so too. But then I started missing all of the goodies from CM7.

I'm on the stock + rooted + deodexed with the clean gingerbread with slight mods kernel. I'm driving, so I can't provide links to the individual posts where I got each thing.
My GPS on Froyo was good, On GB leak it was bad, on GB official its Bad as well. On CM7 its still bad, with several GPS Fixes it doesn't fix anything Argggg.
Wish i knew what the cause for this is, on the official release of GB for HTC devices GPS is flawless. But mine it stutters and laggs never consistent.
