So i have a desire hd from Three, which is unlocked and unbranded, i rooted the phone via the visionary method, got s-off, used rom manager to install clockwork mod recovery which was 2.5.1 something rather, then i created a backup, upgraded to clockwork 3.0.0.1, tried to install the cyanogenmod 6.1.3 via rom manager but didnt work, so i downloaded the zip file manually and tried to update via clockwork mod recovery now in 3.0, restarted, and am now stuck at the main HTC screen. Pulled the battery, then went back into clockwork recovery, tried to recover the backup i made, rebooted, but still stuck on htc white screen... dont know what to do help!
You could try flashing a RUU to go back to stock 1.32 would be best or you would need to downgrade to root, or you could try getting another rom image on your SD card isnt clockwork 3 4 ginger bread nightlies?
Just throwing ideas out there. Personally I would go woth the RUU.
Thanks for the reply, i remember finding some links with ruu's but i'm not sure which one i need and how to use it ?
Sorry just thought the other thing is how long did you leave it. I have read about people leaving for 30 mins and then it boots..
Start downloading this. Its the RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.6_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26 .03.02.26_M_release_155891_signed
http://www.multiupload.com/N333WKVW6M
while downloading leave your phone to boot it might surprise you..
I left it for a while but maybe not long enough, perhaps 15 minutes at one point? i'll try again, should i wipe data in clockwork and then reflash the cyanogenmod again? is it ok to keep the phone plugged into the computer via usb?
Sorry, once downloaded just run the EXE, it will walk you through the steps.
The Dev section has a lot of useful stuff in it for this sort of thing the 1st post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936214 is pretty usefull.

Worth a go whilst downloading, I would wipe 1st. Its good you still have your recovey partition (clockwork) so you should be fine. Use the RUU as the last resort as it will wipe recovery part and loose SOFF etc.. But should fix the phone.
Right so i've wiped data/factory reset and cache partition and dalvik cache, then went to choose zip from sd, chose update-cm-6.1.3-DesireHD-signed.zip, says Welcome to CyanogenMod-6.1.2-desireHD (strange?) completed. Now went to Reboot system now and waiting, still on HTC screen.
is it possible to put another rom on the sd card? i dont have a computer that i can plug the mini sd into, possible in recovery mode?

yes, but i dont know how of the top of my head, i will have a look in the dev forums, i think you use fastboot and u can push files. Hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge will see this post soon. I will have a look though.
so its been 30 minutes, and it's still at the htc screen... what should i do? should i try the RUU ? i dont want to brick my phone...
from what i can find fastboot will not push files, adb but may not connect on splash screen. You could just try pulling the battery and leaving it again to boot for a bit, mine has hung before like that. The Ruu should go through and connect to phone and go through flashing. Do you have another phone that could take the SD card? im gonna boot my phone to recovery and try to push a rom to it or file.
ok i am reading this post,http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=558812
what i would do is goto recovery mode,
he command is:
adb shell mount /sdcard
adb push c:\******.*** /sdcard
exemple with g:\update.zip :
adb push g:\update.zip /sdcard
usefull when wrong rom flashed and no sdcard reader ^^
So i downloaded a cyanogenmod 7 nightly build, installed with with clockwork 3.0.0.5, and it worked, booted in, but had a continuous logo loop, going to try leedroid
Good luck, Leedroid rocks, thats what i use. I would say if it is still looping try the ruu and then start again. The RUU will esentially factory reset.
Installed the latest Cyanogen nightly build #23, and it works perfectly now should i keep it? or should i try leedroid? i kind of want to keep using htc sense, as i have all my contacts on it..
Up to you really. I went back to leedroid because it seems faster and more stable for me and I like some of the sense widgets.

Okay so I just got the phone today and though I knew how to root it and whatnot. So, I followed this guide: http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/22/how-to-root-the-mytouch-3g-or-g1-in-one-click/. Everything was working fine until I tried to install this theme (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493434) as update.zip.
Now I am stuck at the green "MyTouch" boot logo and cannot start my phone. I would like to get this fixed asap but I don't know how. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be awesome. Thanks guys.
to me it sounds like bad flash/download
the only thing i'd suggest is wipe, then reflash the rom
then redownload the theme
then reflash it(no wipe)
and it should work
oh and sometimes themes first load up take time give it 15 minutes tops
if it doesn't work
then do as i said
I tried factory wipe like 10 times and I'm still stuck at the boot logo. I don't really care if I have root anymore, so what can I do to just get my phone back to normal? Meaning, how can I just get my phone to start up? What file would I need to flash to get it back to normal? (Can you try and be specific as I am still learning)
Also, I can't add anything to the SD card cause my phone won't fully start up, so I guess I'll have to buy a SD reader tomorrow?
Hmmm what if I flashed the nibh file using fastboot (the file meant for unrooting the phone). Anyone think that'd work?
Someone please help...I'm totally freaking out and it's so discouraging just having bought this phone and now I can't use it

you need a fresh install of cyan 4.0.4 then try to flash the theme\
wipe,, flash cm-4.0.4 let is bootup then flash the theme ... Don't do what some idots do ,, flash then wipe ,, its wipe then flash,,you must let it boot after the fresh install ......
To answer your ? Bout unrooting, yes the dreaimg.nbh meant for downgrading so you can root is also the same file to unroot, just flash it in fastboot or the bootloader and it will take you back to stock.
If you are running cm recovery 1.4, you can mount your sd card in the recovery console
By typing ums_enable to mount and ums_disable to unmount than type reboot or recovery to exit the console

Hmm I'm gonna try this method in a minute, but, one question, how can I type ums_enable/disable on the mytouch while on recovery?
Okay so I fixed it. I simply bought an SD card reader, placed the sappimg.nbh file on my sd card. Booted with Volume Down + Power and then flashed the sappimg.nbh and now my phone has finally started up thanks!

What SPL and radio are you on?
Hi there, i think i failed at trying to flash a ROM to my desire HD.
I followed the process for temp and then permroot and it all seemed fine. Read further to wipe all data so i did. Then decided to make a backup and that went fine aswell. Upon reboot it just hangs at the HTC logo. I have to pull the battery just to turn it off.
I can boot into recovery mode and tried to restore to my backup but same problem. Foolishly i did all this while waiting for the revolution ROM to download so not even sure how to copy it to the sd card and trying to flash it to the ROM to see if that gets its going.
Would really like some help on this =/
Spose the question is, now that i cant actually start the phone apart from into recovery mode, is there a way to copy the ROM to the sd card still?
Or any ideas on getting it to boot further then just the HTC logo?
help with images attached
wiping all data cause you to lose whatever is on there, inclusive of ROM etc, it sounds like it has nothing too boot.
you can mount your SD via CWM (clockwork Recovery) by going to mounts & Storage and also mount USB and it will then show up as it normally would on your PC if you had a rom.
see photos to guide you
OH FYI youll need to format;
- Boot
- System
- Data
- Cache
Thanks, im able to copy the rom over now, ill flash to it and see how it goes.
Thanks, all is working now
I don't knwo where to post this exactly so here it goes.
I installed revolution 2.09 on my rooted HTC HD without any problems.
Run perfectly. Then today I installed a ROM of a theme from this forum as well called media 1.3 with rom manager.
After the reboot my phone only shows a the text android with a slight moving glow over it. It does not repsond to anything any more. I removed the battery but the same thing is happening.
Did I brick it? What can I do?

im just downloading the rom for you now so i can extract the framework, if you pull your battery out, you can either plug in your charger while its off, this will bring up recovery, or while its off, hold vol down and press power, that will take you to bootloader, and just pick recovery from the list, now when in recovery, if you navigate to the mounts and storage menu, choose the option mount usb storage, you can now connect to a pc as a disk drive and copy stuff to your sd card
im having trouble uploading attachments to xda at the min dya want me to upload it to megaupload for you?
AndroHero,
Thank you for helping me out. I didn't know about the vol down press power option which allows you to acces the sd card and intall a new rom. I had the revolution rom 2.0.9 already. It's installing as we speak. Much thanks for the tips!
To early hooray. I choose the option with the revolution zip for a complete install. After the install I selected rebouut system now. Now it stays on the white HTC screen with the text HTC quitely brilliant. Flashing every 3 seconds or so....
What to do now?
Everything is resolved. revolution is up and running again. I had to un the fullwipe.zip and that did it!
THANKS a lot for all the tips....again

Could it be possible that you installed cwm 3005 and tried a restore with that. I had the same problem. Went back to cwm 2.5.x and then restore worked.

I think there will be a lot of scare because of this CWM 3x...
Same happened to me the other day, stupidly accecpted the update prompt from Rom Manager, did my backup and went to install Cyanogen 6... Got stuck at HTC logo next boot.
Thankfuly, had Leedroid 2.0 on the SD, too, and that one flashed properly
Thing is that when I try to downgrade the Recovery to 2.5x I get an error and really can't be bothered with ADB pushing stuff around, so using Cyanogen 7 for the time beeing
Anyhow, CWM 3.x is likely your problem, easy to fix ^^
Wanting to change my theme on the Samsung spica I had theexact problem on cyanogen mod. Had to redo the whole rooting and installing the Rom again to get to work.

yes, is some script...back to recovery 2.x
I am having some serious issues with my evo. I have tried 10 different methods, googled 100 different help guides and still no fix.
I had originally rooted my phone using simple root and put the "fixed" froyo rom on there. Everything worked fine, but I was outdated and having some really slow issues so I wanted to try a new rom...Fresh.
Well I tried a few methods, but I somehow reverted my evo back to a nonroot of the original OS. Whenever i go into hboot, my recovery does not work. I push the PC36img and load it, then restart then I attempt to go to my recovery where it gives me the error picture with the yellow/red triangle. I then select recovery (after pressing UP volume and powerbutton) and try to load update from sd card. Everytime I do that I get a Failed error.
I've tried to reroot using several methods off this website, I've done everything I can to get it working but can't. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Try reflashing your recovery image.
BTW I have hboot 79.0 with S-ON, so it looks like I def became unrooted.

Not sure how it would have just unrooted itself. I would run an RUU from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884060
Then, I would re-root and start clean again.

ok, finally got it working. Had to restart the phone manually and try it on a different computer. It updated it to the newer version of android and hboot, thank goodness! That was the easiest and most productive thing I've been able to do so far, thanks!
Well now I try to boot into recovery and get the same error:

Then I get :

Installation aborted

Ok, so, I think you said you got the RUU working which would have completely restored the phone to unrooted and stock from factory.
Now, you need to re-root your phone using one of the methods on xda. I used the manual method here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829045. However, many people have had success with the one-click methods.
After you re-root (which will likely included installing a recovery), select a rom you want to try, boot to recovery, wipe and flash it. A great starter ROM is MikFroyo 4.6 or 4.5.
Try downloading the PC36IMG.zip from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705026
put that on the root of your SD card, then boot into HBOOT and it should find that PC36IMG.zip after a few seconds and ask if you want to flash it. Choose yes and let it finish. Should then be able to reboot into recovery.
ok thanks, i'll try it when I get back home

Ok, I tried this method...the filesize of pc36img.zip is only 3.5mb, but it didn't seem to work. It scanned the file then just went back to the hboot screen with my options never asking to flash.
I'm going to try to reroot using the other method now...
So I clicked the link and he forwarded to the autoroot.bat page so I used his method. It worked well (the 2nd time around) all the way until it started to push amon_ra_1.8-mod.... then after that it says rebooting into the bootloader, and it reboots into it and just says waiting for phone...
It does appear that my phone is rooted now, but my recovery is still not working. If I use ROM manager will it work since my phone is rooted or do I need to have a rooted ROM to run it off of?

Does your phone show s-off while in the bootloader? If so you should be able to run the FlashZip script and use that to flash the pc36img-sprintlovers zip. That one contains everything needed to bring your phone up to date and will leave you with a rooted rom and recovery.

FINALLY! Thanks a million! My recovery is now working and it installed the built in sprinter lovers rom, I guess the anti-virus was stopping it so I disabled it and ran the flash script. I was able to install Fresh on there, just to try it out. I do have a few questions though:
1. I noticed after going through many pages that to update to a newer ROM version you don't always have to wipe clean, you can just install (or flash) the new update? I noticed in Fresh there is a built in app that does that. Is this true for most ROMS or only certain ones?
2. I assume I am using the RA recovery. I noticed the backup/restore feature on there. What exactly does that backup and when should I use it?
3. I've noticed I've been very low with memory on my phone (not SD card), I have about 258MB free. How can I clear space and when I mount my phone what files are important to keep and can I get rid of, is it okay to get rid of my rom.zip's and radio.zip's?
Thanks again to everyone, autoroot was def the most painless root ever.

1) You'll want to always wipe your cache/dalvik (I do everytime I'm in the recovery) but the Data depends on the ROM. Usually if you are going from one sense rom to another you are ok and the same for AOSP to AOSP. Going from Sense to AOSP you'll need to wipe data though.
2) Autoroot comes with a modified version of AmonRA, they are mostly just speed tweaks. To make a complete backup of your ROM select Boot (kernel), System (ROM), Data (Apps & Settings) and .android (apps on SD card)
3) You can delete the zips from your sd card if you don't need them but that's about normal for free memory.
Okay, I've searched and searched and no one seems to have the specific problem that I'm having with my phone, so I'm taking to the forums myself. I've been rooting since the G1, I know how to adb push things, I have used google and multiple forums to try to fix this problem. So here goes, anyone that can help I thank you in advance.
1-My phone, like some other MT4G users, reboots itself each time it's plugged in. Initially I thought this was because I was using a Kindle cord to plug it into the pc, so I bought an MT4G usb cable from tmobile, and still it boot loops (just the first white screen for maybe 4 seconds, then black then again and again). The only way to charge it is to let it start boot looping, take the battery out, turn it on, and if I'm lucky enough that it begins to boot up correctly I plug it in mid boot. If I wait til it's fulled loaded it just starts rebooting again.
2-It will not at all from any angle go into Recovery mode. If I try to go to recovery from Rom Manager, or from the screen you get when holding power and lower volume key or by flashing a rom through Rom Manager, it just boot loops just like mentioned above, until I pull the battery for a while (it is currently sitting next to me with the battery out) and then put it back in.
3-If by chance it's on, and plugged into the computer, it is not at all recognized. Ever. While it's booting up my computer finds something, but doesn't know what it is, and doesn't allow me to view any folders on the SD card. Yes I've installed the HTC drivers file. I've adb'ed things to this phone before, now it says device not found. I don't know when it stopped being recognized...
4-I've even tried to fastboot something over to it, but to no avail, still not found.
If I try to do a factory reset, it boot loops. If I sneeze it boot loops.... I don't know what to do, and if I trade it in under warranty, I have to reset it to stock rom, or they're going to charge me for a new phone. Any ideas!?
I have Cyanogen mod 7 on here.
have you tried a fastboot wipe? or have you tried to reboot to recovery from adb?
First, I don't trust using the actual ROM Manager app to do the flashing/installing.
Since you've been flashing since the G1 days why not use Clockwork Recovery? Just go into recovery and do the necessary wipes.
So I suggest to do a complete full wipe in Clockwork, meaning wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache. Install the newest CM nightly (Which is working wonderfully BTW) and see if your problems still persists.
Edit: I didn't realize you tried to enter recovery, oops. But yeah try what the buy above me said. Try re-installing the latest CWM recovery, if that still fails then try heading into there via ADB.

I second that, flashing ROMs from ROM Manager a terrible idea.
Well...if all else fails and if you are really thinking about returning it and still under warranty...few seconds in the microwave method should work just fine. They wont be able to see that its rooted if the phone wouldn't turn on, would they???
glimmer of hope...
So by the grace of god I did get it flashed back to unrooted, stock 2.2 by putting it as pd15img.zip on my sd card and going into bootloader. Once that was done I thought I would be out of the woods... I even plugged it in last night and no boot loop!! but this morning I unpllugged it (and I'm using a tmobile cable for the phone attached to my pc) and here it sits, next to me again with the battery out of it because everytime I try to turn it on (for over 40 minutes now) it boot loops to that stupid white screen (that is honestly driving me insane at this point). I know that it isn't rooted (because I dl'ed rom manager and it won't let me do anything without being rooted) so do we think that I'm safe to go to the store today to request a new one be sent? Thoughts? And thanks for the help thus far!
yeah I would send that back
Bad emmc chip? I'm sorry man, that's a terrible story.
