find the DL09 Verizon official odin package http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=908451 . it will update EVERYTHING including radio to DL09. Then re root using ADB again. get CWM using CWM install thread here on XDA, then flash this rom. done.
make sure you flash DL09 in "PDA" NOT "phone" using ODIN.
so please dont mind my ignorant qquestions.. but im not familier with odin ive read a bit about it.. but do i need to unroot before i do that.. or not.. and cant i just say f adb and use a one click at that point?
Before you install the complete stock DL09 package posted above (which is resistant to one-click rooting, by the way), consider this option:
1. Download the DL09 modem by itself here: http://adrynalyne.us/files/roms/DL09modem.tar
2. Download Odin here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/458252/Odin Files/Odin3 v1.3.exe
3. Pull battery from device
4. Launch Odin
5. Hold volume down button and plug device into computer
-This will place the device into download mode
6. Verify device shows up in odin
7. Click "PDA" button in odin
8. Select "DL09modem.tar" from where you downloaded it
9. Click "Start"
10. Congratulations - you now have the DL09 modem installed. Now you're ready to install your froyo build using Clockwork recovery. Might I suggest this (http://www.mediafire.com/?f282mms2jb2ra2q) one?
If you are on windows just use Odin. It is very easy and you are okay if rooted. Just make sure you read instructions. There is one button that can be painful if you don't know what you are doing.

Do you know who created Odin?
Maybe we can request him/her to release another version of the app without the "phone" button.

I always assumed it was a Samsung designed product but I don't know. I also hypothesized that it is not just for Android and that the phone button is for feature phones but I really have no idea and have not cared enough to research it.

Granted, it seems like an involved process, but most advice posts group most of these steps into one, like saying "Flash DL09 modem in Odin" without actually explaining how to do so, since there are other posts that can be found in this forum with these more detailed instructions.
Believe me, if you flash the entire DL09 stock package, rooting will be much harder to do. If you flash this package, you probably will have to root using adb again, since as far as I know no one-click root method has worked consistently on the stock DL09 ROM.
and i need to root again b4 flashing 2.2 i have rom manager and titainium backup.. .so to save all of my paid apps.. i just back them up using ti backup right???
and one more thing.. the link you posted for 2.2 theres no info on it.. what makes it so special

If you only installed the DL09 modem using Odin, you shouldn't have to root again... if you installed the entire DL09 package, you will need to re-root.
Regarding Titanium Backup, go ahead and back up your apps, use Clockwork recovery to install your DL30 build, then reinstall Titanium Backup and do a batch restore (I'm assuming you already know how to use Titanium Backup, but I'll be glad to walk you through it if you don't). You should only back up and restore user apps, NOT system data! (choose "backup all user apps" from the batch menu when backing up, and choose either "restore missing apps with data" when restoring - do NOT choose "restore missing apps + all system data"). Restoring system data after making the jump from Eclair to Froyo is almost guaranteed to cause problems.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you... had to take a powernap... you shouldn't lose anything on your sd card... I've flashed countless ROMs, kernels, themes, etc. without losing anything. Contacts should be good, too. Just to be safe, though, you might want to make sure your contacts and calendar appointments are saved and/or synced to your google account and not just stored on your phone.

Ok so My phone is not recognized by a computer, i have tried different drivers, cords, ROMs, no matter what I do my phone is not recognized. I took it to the sprint store and the tech there who also has a rooted hero couldn't get it to mount either, the phone just doesn't bring up any mount notification at the top. I have a nandroid backup with stock ROM but even when I do that it is still rooted, they will not give me a new one until it is unrooted. My only other option is to make an insurance claim since I cannot flash it back to stock.
My Question: Is there any way to flash to stock and get unrooted using only my SD card (I can plug it into my card reader and it works fine). Thank you for any help you can give.

Sorry to report, the only option of unrooting is RUU, and this requires HTC Synch and a definate recognition on your PCs part.
Suggestions, anyone?
What version of Windows are you running? I have had issues with Windows 7 in the past. As weird as it sounds once I loaded PDAnet from the market on to my phone and the PDAnet client onto my computer. My phone was recognized. Is your computer charging the phone when plugged in?
its possible.. but you'd need Flashrec, an unrooted original 1.5 rom, and the original recovery image..
ie: use the custom recovery to flash the unrooted rom, then flashrec to flash the original recovery image.. then remove flashrec..
just an idea!
This brings up another question....
What does Sprint actually check?
Do you really have to get back to 100% stock, or would putting the original recovery image on get you through?
Any current or former Sprint techs willing to chime in? Just how perfect do we have to get it?

Actually, that just might work! Great idea chavo, very intuitive thinking!
I take back my last statement. I read somewhere flashrec doesnt work after youv flashed your imahe....google the unlockrs method on flashing a new recovery once already rooted; i think it involves some adb though :-(
Idk, thats as much as i know
I know it works.. but I have an unrooted rom in a nandroid backup from when rooting the Sprint Hero first started.. lol not many people have those laying around, as most used the Asroot2 method of rooting and not Flashrec to flash the recovery.

Your nandroid wont work on another phone, and if it did, it would synch your contacts to their phones, passwords, apps, the whole shindig. Bad idea
We'll have to beg a dev for a stock 1.5 rom
you can use a nandroid from another Sprint Hero.. done that too when i got my replacement phone! If anyones willing..
RUU, don't sign into google. Download and install Flashrec and flash the recovery through that and create a nandroid backup.. it will be clean

Nandroid is device specific to a point.. If you go in to the nandroid folder on the SD card you will see a folder labled HT********** that is specific to your phone, however you can take a nandroid from another phone and place it in that folder and backup from that.
i'd do the RUU but i'm using the updated radio.
I use a mac, but if indeed it isn't the windows driver, and you have tried other roms, then it only leaves the kernel (and the usb cable and phone usb hwd ).
So use what ever methods you used for the rom flashing, and flash a kernel.
Some ideas : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625940&page=1
( start at page 1 )
Just a thought.
isn't the nandroid image made right AFTER you root?
so then, that wouldn't be what you want.
Extract the stock rom from the RUU
ok.. here's an unrooted 1.5 Nandroid back up.
http://www.4shared.com/file/250722598/a6eddc31/NoRootNandroid.html
Download the zip, extract.. and place the folder NoRootNand on the SD card in SDCARD/nandroid/HT**********/
Boot into recovery, select restore as you would if you were restoring a backup you made -->Nand Restore-->HT**********--> and choose to restore NoRootNand
I'm using the RA-heroc-v1.6.2 recovery, so I am unable to verify if this is will work with an older recovery image.
if you have any questions feel free to ask.
Wow thank you everyone for all of the advice, i had all but given up hope since I had been all over google looking for an answer for about 2 weeks. I will try the nandroid backup above and report back. thank you everyone again, you may have just saved me an insurance claim.
Wow, glad I found this thread. I'm downloading that nandroid image right now because I'm going to probably end up taking my Hero in to get the dust cleaned out later this week. I think another option would be to extract the RUU and get the ROM.zip out of it, and then just flash that.

Just purchased a i9000M.. rooted & unlocked.. (Rogers BlackBerry Convert! =P)
I'm totally new to the Android scene.. whats the next step really with my phone?
I'd start with maybe getting rid of Bell's bloatware?
check over the developer forum
see if you have a 3 button download mode or not
upgrade to JM8 firmware and install voodoo fix - your phone will suck without it
then browse the market for some fun apps
Yeah I do have 3 button download/recovery.

Could somebody enlighten me on how flashing the ROM works??.. do I lose my data (contacts/other apps), every time I flash ROM?
check the "FAQ" a the top of the development section it will answer everything
but in short: no you don't lose data, but its highly recommended to backup anyway, it goes wrong easily, titaniumbackup (in the market) is a free app that let you backup (use "batch" option backup all) and you can copy it from the internal sdcard (/sdcard/titaniumbackup) to the external one or to your pc via usb, so you've a backup of your stuff forever
it doesnt backup the old rom
you use Odin to flash
ps see this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786087

You have to be rooted to use it.
You can't expect people to help you if you don't tell them the problem.
So its installed, did you flash the clockworkmod? Should be the top most option.

Maybe I understand his/her problem. Rooted, installed RM but cannot install Clockwork?
Few options here, search for the standalone update.zip with Clockwork and do it that way OR wait a few hours and try again.
The 1st choice I had to do once because RM wasn't liking my phone and the 2nd choice sometimes the server is down.
First, my phone t959 rom UVJI6 normal. Then my rom to version 2.2 T959UVJFD. I do not feel satisfied so I returned to the Odin 2.1.
My phone has a normal root and fix lag.
but then, I could not manage to use the rom again.

My assumption is you have OCLF, try removing it then giving it a go.
Google a clockwork update zip that is pushable with ODIN, I found one the other day. I MAY have it still but I am not sure and I honestly have no clue where I found it, wasn't xda I am about 90% sure. It is not really a solid fix but will get you to where you have CWM. Rom Manager will not recognize you have it installed but when you go to enter recovery mode it will enter into CWM.
Did you by chance also flash a custom kernal? When I tested out a few I noticed my phone did the same thing, my knowledge currently doesn't expand far enough to know if they can even be related though. I am still learning a lot myself.

Always living up to your name...
I had mine fixed up through some trial and error hopefully this gets the OP in the right direction.
So I just rooted my Fascinate (something I never thought I would do) and now I want to get EB01 on my phone. I already backed up everything with Titanium Backup, but I just don't know what I need to do now to get EB01 onto my phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am new to all of this and need some straight forward help. Thank you.
The 1st thing you are going to want to make sure is that you only have user apps backed up with Titanium Backup. Then you will need Odin 1.3 (Google is your friend here) because you will be flashing a new modem and Odin is the only way which to do so.
Now the easiest way to go to Stock EB01 is the all in one EB01 tar file that can be found here.
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/sa...roms-w-root-new-clockwork-updated-2-11-a.html
This will completely format your phone. Flash the .tar file using Odin with The PDA BUTTON (USING THE PHONE BUTTON IN ODIN WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE!!!) and afterward you will have to resetup your phone again (this is normal).
Go to the market and reinstall Titanium Backup and restore ONLY your user apps as restoring system apps would probably cause your phone to act strangly. Afterwards you should be set.

Yes, but it won't back up your SMS messages, OS settings (the stuff you can adjust in the 'Settings' app), and some other stuff. There's several apps on the market to back up your SMS messages to your SD card, then restore after the backup (the others shouldn't be that big of a deal to have to reconfigure).

I have a Canadian S4 and rooted using the twrp method and then installed the vigin google play edition rom. Everything worked fine at first when I installed it but i was fiddling around after in twrp and thought i should format the internal storage and start completely fresh and now if I install any rom including my original backup the device will boot up into the system fine for the first time but if the device resets after that it just hangs on the galaxy S4 logo and i have to reboot into recovery and flash again. Any ideas on how i could fix this? Thanks!!!
Try this, in twrp go into advanced wipe and wipe dalvik cache, cache, system, data and android secure. Then flash your nandroid.

That is a nandroid.
Dont use TWRP for the S4
From what I have experience and I believe others have as well, if you used TWRP to format where you had to type yes, you are pretty much screwed trying to get things working properly again. Maybe it is certain phones, sd cards, roms, who knows, but after I typed yes in TWRP to format everything, I could flash a rom but couldnt restart and things were buggy. I had to use odin to flash back to stock, re-root and flash the rom again. Now everything is 190% considering my battery life went from 6 hours to 28 with medium usage.
I have always loved TWRP on my other phones, but for the S4, its more frustration and using with caution than its worth.
Another word of caution, use windows to fix your phone. Im on linux and its too much of a pain in the ass to use odin/heimdall to go back to stock for newbs. On windows I went to stock and rooted again in no time.
Good luck!

You might have to. I had the same problem today where if the phone rebooted I would just get a black screen. I ended up using Odin with the stock rom, reinstalling twrp and then restoring my backup. I'm pretty sure it was a rom I flashed that caused the initial problem and only Odin would clear things up.

A couple other notes, to avoid other possible problems, use the original samsung cord when connecting to your computer. Switching USB ports can help if there are transfer or other issues. Its pretty easy and straight forward if everything works out well, but there are so many gawt dayum variables that minor issues can cause problems, though may never manifest.
Hopefully this works and please post some results to help the same in need.

I get firmware from sammobile.com. You have to register but it's free. You'll download a zip. Use 7-zip to extract the .tar.md5 file from it. Use that in Odin, PDA.
