I just want to know, I have little to no access to a Win 7 computer, only a windows xp machine, is it possible for me to unlock my HD2 with WP7 on windows XP?
Im not new when it comes to unlocking, rooting, jailbreaking, w/e you want to call it with different devices, but this has me completely stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try following this thread:

However, I don't know if this counts for XP but for Vista and Win 7 you have to run ChevronWP7 Unlocker "As Administrator."

Even if Chevron starts in XP SP3, it will not work on unlocking your phone, you need Vista or W7 for it (and still it is a pain in the butt)...
I could not unlock my phone with chevon in XP SP3 (tried for several hours to figure out a solution). Switched to windows 7 and chevon unlocked my phone with no problems. +1 to switch to vista or windows 7 pc for unlocking your phone.

I'm using windows 7 and wanted to change ROM, i was wondering if the .net 3.5 thats recommended and needed for the HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex has any complications or if indeed is need at all?
can't comment on the tool you talk about
but win7 is the first windows that comes
with .net 3.5 installed from the start
I tried to flash my mobile from a Vista PC and I got problems with it.
So I went into the basement and used my old XP Computer.
And it worked flawlessly
Maybe Windows 7 works better, but I don't think so. Just try it and install .NET 3.5 and start RUU.
If it doesn't work, you got to look for a XP Computer

Maybe you had to install the cracked drivers (youwe got 64 and 32bit version), sometimes you need to disable the USB connection under WMdevice Center, put the device in bootloader and then run RUU update.
Argh sorry, totally forgot to mention that.
But I had tried (nearly) everything:
Flashing without changes in Vista (just WMDC installed)
disabled/enabled "allow USB connections"
normal/cracked drivers
...
So if somebody know what's wrong, please tell me ^^
If your using USPL you will need to update the HTC USB drivers as it will not detect the device, if you have flashed the hard SLP then you needed worry, it works fine, even in Windows 7, 32 and 64 bit
HSPL didn't work with my 32bit Vista, even not after updating the drivers
But that's Windows: Sometimes it works, most time it doesn't
Put HSPL from friends PC and than @ home just do upgrades via SD card
Thanks guys, some good info there, i'm liking windows 7 at the moment so will keep tryin to find a way to the HSPL, tried that friends option NikPraskaton but he has windows XP and is not detecting the phone anymore
I've found this instruction:
http://www.modaco.com/content/windo...u-on-vista-it-can-be-done-the-ultimate-guide/
but it is 2 years old!
do you have new HTC drivers under Windows 7 which work with USPL 2.5?
now my WMDC works great but USPL 2.5 shows: "no response from device"

are you running on x64 Windows 7?
if so, you need to disable signature driver enforcement check, at the bootup.
not yet. it's 32bit. I'm waiting for my Sony OEM Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.
but I'm asking for the newest drivers that will work with my Windows 7 WMDC and with USPL 2.5...
I'm afraid that these drivers are out of date or simply, not work OK with my Windows 7
Am I wrong?
Have you even tried?
Have you read the wiki on using USPL with Windows Vista/7?
Hi
i have win 7 32bit too and you can install the drivers like Vista. It is the same way.

1. No, I haven't. Because I can't understand how 2 years old drivers can work better with Windows 7 than original Windows 7 drivers?
2. Yes, I have. If old drivers from point 1. won't mess my Windows 7 I can try. But I don't want to reinstall my operating system because I experiment with some old HTC drivers...
Anyone have good or bad experience with that old drivers under Windows 7? Do they work fine with USPL and with Wintows 7 WMDC?

Thay work FINE under Windows 7 32bit Pro No Problem easy install the same like Vista.
OK, I've replaced USB drivers.
But I used this version of wceusbsh.inf instead of wiki's.
My version of USB driver is:
4.5.5086.0
and wiki version is:
4.0.4232.0
So it is a big difference, I think.
I can confirm that on version 4.5.5086 WMDC and USPL work fine...
I used Win7 64bit Ultimate edition + HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.zip and it worked all great via Mobile Center.
Has anyone found a way to install wmdc on windows 7? I just can't do it.. the cd that came with my td2 fails at install.. and the downloaded version, well, nothing ever happens I've even tried running as admin, compatibility with vista, and don't even have my AV nor UAC enabled.
why don't you just download the latest version from Microsoft? I run Win7 and didn't experience any trouble.

i'm guessing because he is unable to pass genuine validation...some people cant/wont buy windows...
Theoretically speaking if he's running a non genuine Windows 7 I'm pretty sure he activated it with one of dozens of existing tricks (otherwise why installing it, for a month usage?). He would then pass validation easily.
Downloading the one from Microsoft worked perfectly for me
Simply connect TD2 to your PC and run windows update.
I have been unable to follow the steps to unlock my HD2 as I have Windows XP and the Windows Phone 7 Dev tools only work on Windows Vista or 7. Does anyone know a way to accomplish the unlocking so I can start downloading apps?
I think it would be better to upgrade to vista 32bit if you can. Or do it in the internet shops? Only problem is the time it takes to download the windows tools. The others can go on usb stick.

Not sure, but I believe you need to be running Windows 7, I had all sorts of issues trying to set my phone up in xp, for one the sdk won't run in xp without alot of messing around. I found it a damn sight easier to just upgrade to Windows 7 in the end.
Follow this guide:

lol,
its time to upgrade my laptop OS... this wp7 is pushing us to upgrade everything... now i asked my company to upgrade even our exchange server to 2010 because wp7 does not work with 2003..

Same.
No luck on XP. Tried all possible ways suggested.
Finally upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate
On XP I was trying to unlock my HD2 for few days. I searched all forums and I have applied hundred of tricks - without success.
Finally I had a chance to us PC with Vista SP2 - I have unlocked my HD2 on the first time. For me on XP it can't be done

I agree with this. It can only be done either with a Vista or Windows 7. If you are on XP, it won't happen.
...so lets close the thread and confirm that chevron is not working on XP

Agree with it, same here, updated to SP3, install Zune but there's no luck. Some people confirm they had succeed install SDK to SP3, but still can't unlock.
I made it after using other laptop with Windows 7.
