Lately I've been having problems with my touch screen, in the middle of something it stops working. And I have to either restart my phone or turn the screen on and off a number of times. I have tried many roms after this first occurred but it still persist. At the same time as this first happend, my SD card crashed..
(I have tried to mount the SD to my pc with a card reader and it makes my pc hangs everytime I try to highlight a folder.. )
Anyone out there with suggestions to fix this?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
bump, anyone?
Sounds like the standard digitizer-going-out-hardware-fault issue that plagues the HD2's... As far as your SD card I would try to repartition or reformat it and see if that clears it up. Have you tried another PC to read the SD card?
Its so strange that i just have to close the screen a couple of times and then it works, it works like a charm when i have it plugged in to the charger.
I have tried my sd card on 3 computers and one mac. the mac didnt noticed it at all. but same result on the computers as mine.
Try slow formatting to all the SD Card in one logical FAT32 partition with default cluster size.
Tanks, but my pc just hangs, nothing happens.. think I have to buy a new sd card

Hi guys... I have the worst problem since I bought this brilliant device: I was playing with a game (installed on the mini SD), and when I tried to save it told me I had not enough storage space. Puzzled, I ended the game and went back to the normal pda functions...just to find out my SD is not recognized anymore. Zero, nada. Disappeared. Tried to get it out and in again (a million times), and I don't even get the sound I used to get. I tried fitting the minisd to the sd adapter and put it in an old zire: the card works!Everything is there. But the wizard won't recognize it anymore. Tried soft reset and it didn't help... Not so keen on hard resetting unless it is the only option but...I'm dazed...It doesn't see it anymore.I admit I was playing the game at 240 mhhz (overclocked) but I had played it a million times already and everything was smooth... PLEASE HELP!
same here im having this problem. it's annoying as hell!

I have had the problem of the memory card seemingly disappearing.
On checking closer, I noticed I had 'Storage Card' and 'Storage Card2'
Storage Card had one file on it and everything else was still on Storage Card2.
By deleting Storage Card abd soft reset, all was restored.
This has happened a couple of time.
If this happens to you, make sure you delete the right one.
Storage card
I've never unlocked the extended rom (Storage_card_2), so i have just Storage Card, a 1 Gig Sandisk mini SD. Still, it dissapears a couple of times a day, and i must soft reset my wizard to appear again. Very, very frustrating
Missing data
Something similar has happened to mine as well....
I turned my PDA on and accessed the storage card just like I do on any other day, only to find that all of the files had disappeared!! Everything had gone - but when I went into the memory setting, where it tells you how much space is used on the card it is still showing up as being half full i.e. the data is still there but not showing up on explorer!!
What is this all about??!! It has never happened to me before!!
Just wish I could offer an explanation on how to fix this...
You can probably read those files in Windows. This memory card disappearing problem seems to occur frequently with Wizard. Lookslike some program keeps corrupting the memory card.
Format the card in Windows and put it back in your phone, it will most likely work.

If you format the card, surely it will wipe everything that was on there in the first place..?!
There must be a way of retrieving those missing files somehow without resorting to formatting...
The weird thing is, today I transferred a single file from my desktop to the Sd card (whilst in my XDA) and suddenly some of the missing files appeared...?!
Now to find the rest of them....
I would love to have storage card 2 or something like that, but all I get is...the same behaviour I'd get if NO sd was in. I don't want to hard reset UNLESS somebody can confirm me this works...I am so desperate, it kinda looks like the sd reader is dead...all of a sudden! Please guys help...
I hard resetted and still it doesn't work...I'll take it to a shop to repair...I am totally disappointed!
I had this, the card came back after I just placed it in a card reader, browsed it on a pc, then replaced it in the phone.

What is do
It happens to me too - if I go into file explorer, I see storage_card and storage_card_2. The contents of storage_card_2 are exactly those of my SD. If I delete storage_card, remove and re-insert my SD, storage_card_2 disappears and storage_card is as it should be...
It was an sd problem...as soon as I have formatted it started to work again...
hope that sorts it for you guys if you have this annoying problem...
The data from my SD card became partly unreadable, some prgms could not be started and when looking at the root folder of my card I found some items named like ç!é”è((é§éç. Putting the card out and back in didn’t help, only a soft reset did the job. All data was still intact. This thing happened twice untill now. I use a Sandisk 1GB card.
Has anyone had this problem before? I remember reading about the same problem on a forum but couldn't find the posting.
I also experienced the same problem
I had this problem before. When I pulled my Sandisk 1 GB Micro SD and pushed it back in, the System did not recognize my Memory Card. I did it several times and suddenly it came back again.
The trick I used was pushing the Memory upward (against the back of the phone) until the memory was not completely inserted. Roughly about 1/10 of the memory sticks out of the memory slot
I believe this is a major hardware problem with the Memory Slot.
I have had this problem with my 2GB miniSD on my MDA Compact- the first time i had no choice but to re-format the card and start over but second time, re-inserting the card solved the problem.
May be something to do with the card not getting proper contact.
It doesn't work at all anymore!
I've had the same problem with my 1gb SD card since I bought it 2 years ago. It's crap, because copying a movie for instance through the phone (MDA compact) takes forever.
Now I reformatted it, and copied some stuff to it through my card reader. But after putting it back into my phone, the card now is not even seen at all by my phone, and putting it back in my PC doesn't work either... now it's not recognised anywhere anymore...
Anyone, now how to get this fixed?!
Thx!

Try using this utility (or similar) to format your card from a card reader:
http://www.sdcard.org/Downloads.aspx I've used it many times on various cards and seems to do the trick.

Hmmm, thx for hint, but that didn't work either. Since the drive isn't recognised, so does this tool... weird enough the adminstrative tools in windows (drive managament) does see a 1gb drive, but assigning a new drive letter causes an error.... damn... looks like I'll be buying a new SD card.
Does anyone know which brands/types (I now have a 1gb Kinston) have less problems with this, so I can copy files to and from my card though my card reader instead of my phone, without srewing my card up?
Edit: Ha! I formatted my SD card with my digital camera! Leaving just the problem of not being able to copy files to my card through my cardreader...
I'm having SD card issues. Suddenly the SD card isn't recognized; certain folders/files don't show up in the file manager. I also get a message when opening the camera, stating, "Please insert an SD card before using the camera." If I remove, then re-insert, the card reappears, but I get an error message that I removed it improperly. It reverts back to the initial problem soon after.
Please Help!!!
Unmount the SDcard,
Settings> SD card & storage > Unmount SD card
from there you'll click Format SD card..
You'll lose any data you have but since the card isnt reading anyways there isnt much else you can do to fix that.

This issue isn't a constant one; it reads the card properly most of the time. Is reformatting the only solution to this problem, or is there anything else I can try?
Well if it reads it some of the time the it seems like its a sd card slot that's the problem and not the card... MyTouch's have had some problems with fault sd card slots. You might look into sending it back to HTC and having it repaired seeing as it's most likely a hardware issue.

that blows! i've only had the phone a couple months. this issue started happening recently, not the entire time i've had the phone. is there a way for me to test the slot on my own, without having to send it out?
SD Card Data
Since I've bought the T-Mobile myTouch 3G (1.2/LE) I've had reoccurring problems with the 8GB microSD card that came with the phone. It would randomly say that the card was blank, but a quick pop in and out of the slot fixed the problem. The problem has turned permanent now; my pop in/out method hasn't worked (it still comes up blank). When I insert the SD card into my standalone SD card reader it goes unrecognized; nothing happens (which is the standard reaction when plugging in the reader without a card).
I have another 2GB microSD card which works fine (on my phone and with the card reader), so the problem isn't the card reading mechanism. While in the SD card settings on my phone I hit "Format" by mistake I then clicked the "Erase" button in the following prompt, however nothing happened! Something strange is going on, which leads me to believe that there's a chance I can recover the lost data on the card. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
-Adam

Probably a bad sdcard. It happens. Reformat and try it again. If that fails then get a new sdcard.
By the way, I'm merging with a similar post that you made a couple of months ago.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=692071
I'm trying to keep this forum clean and organized you know.
Now the 2GB card got erased! It was called "2GB," Now it's blank (besides a directory called "LOST.DIR" w/ nothing in it) and called "NO NAME."
Do you think the phone could be causing this to keep happening? This is how it started w/ the 8GB card until it eventually stopped being recognized at all. Is the SD format supposed to be FAT32?
Thanks,

Hello friends,
I have been facing black screen problem everytime in 2.2. İt always happern when I watch video or picture from sd card. Whwn I set the phone to sleep and open it, always black screen comes, something writes and phone closes.
I am using standart sd card and it is 2gb.
Can you help me about this problem?
hey, same problem, also using standard 2gb sd card.
try it for a day without your sd card in, worked for me, but i need sd card for music, pics everything so im going back to 2.1 til this is sorted,
greast rom, but need my phone working 24/7 and dont need to check it constantly to see if its hanged or frozen or the usual line of code,
but still great rom
I think it occurs from sd card, it happens whwnever I reach to sd card. I wonder why everybody does not live the same problem?
will it be useful if I format the sd card or get a better(class 6) sd card?
i think there has to be a common factor between it, obviously isnt software because there would be more ppl with errors and such.
ok my sd card were/are used in the following devices :-
xbox 360 as portable device to play mp3's through a cheapo usb card reader
win7 lappy through phone usb
similar stuff or ?
if ur still on 2.2 have you tried turning off debug mode when your using phone normally, might have an effect?
and does it also constantly remount when you unlock your phone?
sorry for the lots of questions but im interested now, this is the only thing stopping me from keeping 2.2, had 2.1 back all day and no issues, happy phone again
ı changed sd card and formatted but again crashes when phone unlocked.
any help please?
the black screen is known as screen of death (sod), try changing the kernel verson, or the radio, it is not a sd problem, i have done it and it is working fine on mine
Strange problem this morning.
I was moving pictures around using Fish Bowl Gallery. The app froze while deleting a picture/photo and had to reboot to get things going again. My phone then now cant read the external SD card. The phone is asking me to re-format.
I've very reluctant to format and looking for advice on what else I can do to fix this without reformatting the SD card.
With my reckoning I doubt there is much more I can do but thought better to ask just in case.
Strange:
I'm in the office so it's hard to use my PC for diagnostics as I don't have Hi Suite or drivers installed on the office PC.
Went up the road an bought a multi card USB adaptor ($7). The PC reads the card fine (which is great as I can now do a back up).
Will play with it a bit more and see what happens.
Maybe I am lucky but...
after backing up the SD card I popped it back in, rebooted and everything is back to "normal".
I had something like that on my card... i had to format it, and worked again, but know it corruptes the files or they disappear.
I runned some diagnostics tests and nothing appear.... no idea of what is happening with my samsung card :S
