I guess I found a bug, and it really irritated the hell out of me.
First of all, I had a rooted phone with lagfix, but wanted to update my phone to latest software version. I couldn't do this without restoring files with Odin, then resetting the phone.
Prior to the reset, I had it connected with my company's exchange server, which required a password when you restarted the phone, or after 12 hours of it being on.
AFTER the reset, the password prompt was there, but no password worked!
So to save anyone any hassle in the future: Just enter 10 wrong passwords and let it wipe the data. It'll come back afterward.
GOD WHAT A PIECE OF SH*T

My co-worker is going to sell my his Ideos S7, but he seems to be unable to do a factory wipe, and thus will not part with it until he does so.
He says he followed the directions on how to do the factory reset, but it continues to sync his Google account.
Any ideas on what could be done?
From the home screen, he pressed Menu, Settings, Privacy, and then Factory Data Reset? Did he let the process complete all the way, including the two reboots (it reboots once in recovery to wipe, then reboots again into the OS)?
I've used the Factory Data Reset to wipe my tablet 3 times now after messing with it, and never had my google account comeback automatically.
Be careful because it has been confirmed that this method does not remove the intial google login. This means that the new person that uses the device can access your google account and gmail potentially.
Can someone confirm this?
The best way is to flash a new firmware ROM from Huawei.
So guys I have HTC MYTOUCH4G it is stock...
Yesterday one stupid girl made too many wrong pattern attemps and I was locked out of my phone and now it says sign in to your google account, and I do that but since the wifi was off and my mobile internet is also turned off - I can't unlock my phone even when I'm entering my gmail and password. tried many times, waiting an hour, then trying.
Is there a way to turn the wifi on and unlock my phone, I don't wanna do a factory reset because I can't copy all my data from my phone so I don't wanna lose anything.
Thank you so much!
I have tried calling it and then pressing home, or accessing notifications menu but it wont let me do ANYTHING.
Even if you factory reset, the only data that will be lost would be the non-google apps. So basically, the extent of your losses would be to lose some of your game data as your contacts, emails, blah blah blah is backed up in google's cloud and your sd card would be untouched. If you were rooted, i would just tell you to wipe system and cache are reflash the rom
Not sure if this works on stock but you can try the following to turn on your wifi ...
adb shell
sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
update secure set value=1 where name='wifi_on';
.exit
Once wifi is connected, you can enter correct google credentials ...
A few little things were acting up on my phone, so I decided to reflash and start anew. The only big hiccup is that my phone was encrypted.
Through TWRP, I have performed a Factory Reset, which was unsuccessful. I then went through Format Data to remove the encryption:
Format Data will wipe all of your apps, backups, pictures, videos, media, and removes encryption on internal storage. This cannot be undone. Press back to cancel. Type yes to continue.
Click to collapse
This unfortunately did not do a thing, even after rebooting recovery before I flashed the rom. I am prompted for my encryption password during pre-boot. I've tried various backups that I still have (including the original from when I got my device); sometimes the password is accepted, other times I am prompted to continuously try again. When the password is accepted, I am stuck with a blank screen; after a few seconds, my phone vibrates once, then after a few seconds more, it vibrates multiple times, like when an app crashes. These restores do apply; the boot animations and Samsung logo change based on which backup I tried.
As long as I can get to a state where I can flash new roms and boot without the encryption prompt, I don't mind having to root again, losing internal data (which should've happened above), or having to reconfigure everything (that's half the fun).
adb and TWRP are still functional. I'm downloading the stock recovery and factory images to give them a try as well, though the download is crawling and it will be some time before I can test it.
Has anyone else successfully solved this?
Edit: Solved.Flashed all factory images, performed a factory reset, re-rooted, set up TWRP again, and got back to a current rom. For anyone else who runs into this in the future, I had to use the stock recovery, not CWM or TWRP, to successfully wipe my device.
Been working on this for a while now, but can't figure out how to get around it.
The phone is currently runing a custom 8.1.1 ROM and I have TWRP 3.2.0.0 installed.
I've done full wipes and factory resets, but the phone never seems to fully reset. I am fine with losing everything on the phone. I just want it 100% clean so I can sell it, which of course includes getting rid of the password on TWRP so the next user can mess around in there.
I have access to TWRP, the password is mine. But I can't seem to remove it, and every time I wipe and reset the phone it still asks me for my old device password with the owner message present as well.
I have also tried to format data, but it is unable to mount the data partition it seems, which I am guessing is due to encryption.
What's my fastest way to a reset and clean phone? I'm getting desperate here since I'm running out of time.
Edit: Through no change in process of my own, it suddenly completely reset. Now I'm more curious as to why.. Can anyone explain so I can avoid this issue in the future?
for me, the only way is to flash the full factory image from the Google site
First clear data and than flash software
It's been so long since I used my password that I forgot it. Thankfully, I have modded phone, so I can still get in via fingerprint, even after reboot. Anybody know a way to reset the password without factory reset?
