[Q] Is it possible to transfer the HTC-Mesenger from the HD2 - HD Mini General

Hi,
as T-Mobile has released a new ROM (Vers 3.15) for the HD2, and SMS is much faster in it, I want to know if it is possible to copy the messenger from the HD2 to my HD mini (own both -mini (unbranded) for my wife, and HD2 (T-Mobile germany brand) for myself))?
Kind regards
Groby

I'd be interested in this one too.

I am also looking for a replacement for the standard slow and buggy sms application of HTC. Are there any third party sms applications with a threaded view?

interesting topic, waiting too

I've done what the zenyee patch does, but with a few registry changes so it doesn't load the patch at startup, which is kinda buggy.
combine that with SMSatHand (with threaded view) and you've got quite a nice replacement
I would like having the htc app back though, but it's just too damn slow...

What about mms? Do you use mms?

don't know if it works, I don't use mms myself, but in this thread it states that it should work with Arcsoft MMS

SMS like on a Treo 650?

I'm new to the whole WM on a phone thing but I'm starting to see some major differences that I'm not liking or need to get use to versus my Treo 650 namely the way it handles SMS/MMS.
On my Treo 650 my messages where kept together based on the person's name or number and I can see the whole conversation. On my Wing, each message is just that a separate message much like an email in Outlook.
Are there any programs that will allow me have my in format they are on the Treo or Google Mail? More or less chat style messaging.
Thanks

What you're looking for exists and works well.
Extracted (not by me!) from Treo 750 ROM, the messaging threader has some issue 'cos of it has been made for touchscreen device not for smartphones. By the way it does its job.
If you want this, let me know and I'll tell how to workaround the "little" problems you'll have using that.
PS: You can also search in the forum ftp!

Yes I want it! My T-Mobile Wing has a touch screen so I don't think that will be a problem!
Thanks!

threaded sms fix for wm6.0

for those too scared to flash to 6.1 (or have other reasons not to), here is a very intriguing method of getting the palm threaded sms to work quite well, not covering up the input area.
good luck.

Threaded sms is nice, but if you don't get notified of them what's the point??
The palm threaded sms app ( i used codyppc's) is ok, but the notifications on my vogue at least, are so buggy that it's not practical. Using HTC theme, with HTC Home (sms counter) and half of the time it doesn't increment. S2U2 also doesnt' recognize new SMS when this threaded app is installed.

what apps do you have installed? what rom are you running?
the sms counter can mess up sometimes, but it has been my experience to work about 90% of the time.
Just have the stock ROM that came with the Sprint Touch.
my notifications start out working, then quit, then sometimes come back. I can't figure out any rhyme or reason - new message or new conversation don't seem to matter - i have done a hard reset and only installed the palm threaded sms app - doesnt' matter. I love it when it works, but...
Apps include:
- MS Live Search
- AC S2U2 .99
- Arcsoft MMS (still have hope)
- the MusicID app
- MemMaid
- Google Maps
- YouTube fix
- Full Screen Keyboard
- Sprite backup
- teh duttythroy Vista battery bar
- Opera 8.65
I use treo alert. And it works fine, for the sms issue. u can set it up like you want it....
does treo alert allow you to configure the sms counter in the HTC Home today screen plugin? I assume it probably doesn't but hoping it does. i'm looking at this, http://discussion.treocentral.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15006&d=1180917118, and it's hard to tell.
I dont think it do's. are you running the palm threaded sms hack>?
yes, running codyppcs threaded sms app - the one with the SMS softkey if that matters. love it when it notifies, but can't figure out why sometimes it doesn't. i have tried combinations of closing out of the app, having a totally different app open, putting the touch to sleep/hibernate, but it's never consistent.
I am having issues with the dragstlye sip hack. It seems to cutoff off the bottom row of keys and the majority of the second row with the standard sip keyboard. It also cuts off some of each of my other entry methods. has anyone figured out a fix for this?

completely agree, think a lot of people would
I believe this has been discussed and it is too integrated into the ROM to be extracted.

it works like the threaded SMS from PocketCM.
Beautiful and easy.

I have to ask the obvious, Why not just upgrade from 6.0 to 6.1? It is much more stable, for me at least, than 6.0.
No offense intended. To each his/her own.

Because some of us can't upgrade to 6.1 there is no 6.1 for my phone at the moment, for example.
I have a TOUCH CRUISE
- VITO SMS, doesnt work with the Touch Keyboard, the keyboard only rights numbers.
- When using the PALM THREAD SMS keyboard, the keyboard stays over the text of the message, wich is really bad to use
- There is no 6.1 for the TOUCH CRUISE right ?
Any other ideas

VITO SMS-Chat vs Threaded SMS WM 6.1
Hi
Now that Vito has a promotion to celebrate their 7th year anniversary (SMS Chat at US$7 only), I was tempted to get it. But since WM 6.1 is coming soon... I was also wondering whether it's worth the money.
Has anyone tried both and can he/she shared the differences/similarities? What's the benefit (if any) of getting SMS-Chat?

I haven't tried other options except the Dutty 6.1 release and after experiencing the problems I had I had to revert to OEM. I installed SMS-Chat and for $7 I think its great. I am still on trial but plan to purchase. So far it has worked without issues for me. Threaded SMS nice layout. I suggest trying it before buying and make a judgement for yourself.
Hi
Thanks for the feedback. Personally, I would like to have it integrated into the default SMS application, so that it won't take up extra ROM and RAM.
But like you said, maybe I will give it a try. Before that, can you tell me whether SMS Chat is an application that needs to be launched all the time in order to access it or will it operate in the background, taking over the default Inbox, until you deactivate it?

It works in the background. I did a soft reset of my device to test it without previously launching the application and I had my wife send me a text and it automatically came through sms-chat. I like this apart from other modifications because I don't have to mess with the registry. I have full control by uninstalling it if I ever don't want the application. If you do try it let us know your thoughts.
I'm not sure whether I want to pay for something which will be made available to us free of charge eventually when WM 6.1 is out. That's why I am still contemplating about it.

Disable HTC Message

I would like to use the standard Winmo SMS and NOT the HTC message app. How can I disable to the HTC app? Is there a reg edit I need to do? Right now I cannot even use the standard SMS function.
Please help ... thanks!!
Fix found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556614
Lag issues are only found with operating HTC sense. I dont seem to get any lag when using the default windows 6.5 screen and htc messaging. And this is with quite a few messages saved fo a contact. Im assuming its a ram allocation issue possibly.
I think disabling something which is meant to be working perfect with a flagship handset is pathetic. Htc has to fix this.

HD2 roms without HTC Messaging or with a replacement

I'm a super-heavy texter, and the HTC app for text messages is horribly slow, even when i dont have many texts saved... I know there are some roms that do not have it, is the standard windows mobile application really faster? or is there some better alternative?
Could anyone sugest good ROMs with a messaging application other that the HTC one?
Thanks

Try NRG or Elegancia roms, Both of them come without HTC messaging clinet
sigh, the problem is these 2 roms are both hosted on hotfile, and where i stay (Singapore) i can never download off hotfile...

Many thanks wsayed, I tried Elegancia but i really dont like that rom... horrible icons and poor performance... but i did manage to see that the standard windows mobile sms client is way faster than the HTC one... so i'm going to try NRG now
Try kwbr. He offers a version with and without HTC Messaging.
Is there not a way to just install standard WM messaging on the stock rom? I'm quite happy on stock but I'm not crazy about the HTC messaging either.
OMG, HTC Msg is so horrible. You can have more 100 sms. From 50 onwards you starting to feel something wrong!

Yes you can:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556614
And to answer OP's question - Yes, it is very fast
However, if you want HTC msg, you can do use MyPhone to archive sms. Trying to keep around 50 sms each time. This has been working well for me!
Here's another one... Miri's HD2 series.
http://htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1786
Much better when HTC messaging is not included in the rom... text messages sync properly with Exchange 2010 and the unread bubble is always correct.
Try my roms :d no htc messaging, hosted on vbn and ul.to, tmous and non tmous compatible
