[Q] WP7, AND-SD, magldr 1.12 sd boot fail - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I've followed the dual boot tut and wp7 is working fine, I marked the wp7 partition as primary. I used services to point to android build dir, Im using Copes build which i read works with magldr without any modification. My issue is that when I choose to boot ad sd from magldr i get to GO GO GO! and it just sits there... I let it go for 30 mins.
I thought maybe i needed to add a data.img to it so i dl'd a 1gb data.img and placed it in the android root... still no luck.
inside copes build was a folder that said magldr with instructions to swap out the startup and the rootfs.img.... no go still stuck at GO GO GO!
WTH am i doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated... wp7 boots fine off the nand, just cant get into droid....
EDIT:recopied copes droid/cynogen build back to sd left the 1gb data.img which was fresh on there and got past the GO GO GO! but now im stuck at the HTC logo for 30 mins and no signs of life...
oh and i reverted from 2.15 to 2.12 radio because of reported longer battery life, as far as ive read this is compatible with copes build. Any ideas why im stuck at the htc splash?

Bump!
I got passed the htc logo and I get passed cm7 splash but the phone freezes at the setup wizard... sometimes I get passed being asked to complete action using com.android.provision or Setup wizard, but it will quickly freeze. touchscreen is non responsive and i have to pull the battery.
Ive reformatted several times and recopied the build no luck do you think if i change the data.img from 1gb to a lower size it will not freeze? has anyone had this issue before?

I tried to do the same thing you did and I gave up. I was using Darkstone's super ram build and WP7 works perfectly on NAND but it will no boot android. Sorry I can be no help. Just to let you know that Super ram froyo is having the same issues if you chose to do another build.

i finally got the gingerbread/cm7 from cope working! I had to swap out the startup txt and the root file from the the magldr folder. the first time i tried this it didnt work because I believe there was a corrupted file from copying the droid build to the sd using magldr's 4. Usb mass storage option.
I Got gingerbread/cm7 working and installed but I cannot use the marketlace to dl apps I get a message saying your application will be downloaded... or something of that nature. When I go to my apps and try to manually install them they kick to the top and never start. They quickly drop back down to the list of apps with an uninstalled status.
I have the apn setup and im connected to wifi. Im once again at a loss....
there is a thread on here that will tell you how to mount your img and edit a string to allow darkstone to work! search in android developement for booting android with magldr...

Vogue freezes before Booting android

My vogue locks up after I open Haret and click run. It gets stuck as soon as the progress bar under Booting linux fills up. I have a sandisk 16gb card with 1.05 gb free. I'm currently running NFSFANs latest 6.5 rom. Any tips?
am i the only one who experienced this problem?
check your zimage, it should be named "zimage" and nothing more. You could also try to redownload the zimage as it may be corrupted
na it still just freezes. do i have to let it sit a while?
Do you happen to have a data.img already on the SD? I ran into this problem last night for the first time, and it seemed I had kept my data.img from an old build (I was changing builds from Ion to Donut) and as soon as I deleted the old data.img it fired up successfully.
i deleted it but i get the same result. would u mind describing how u setup android on ur sd.card?
I would think the problem is with the zimage, as it doesn't even boot the kernel. Try downloading haret again ...
Same problem here, anyone know a solution , thanks.

[Q] 2 Parts: AD SD Boot, SD convert to NAND

Alright, so I have two questions, it seems I can't find any solution to the first, and haven't really heard anything about the second.
1: So, I installed MAGLDR, and installed a NAND ROM, works perfect. Here's the problem though. I set the Dir properly for my SD Build, and when it goes to boot up, freezes on the load screen. So I tried a few other builds on my card and all of them freeze on boot, right after the phone vibrates when it's pretty much done loading.
tl;dr Is anyone else having problems booting SD, and how do you fix it?
2: I like the build I'm using, and it'd be nice to just simply drag a few files over and have it working off of nand, and keep SD boot for second android.
So, is there any way to transfer it over, or do we need to wait for cooks to fix 'em up?

[Q] HELP: android wont start up for some reason?

NOTE: i posted this in the development thread by mistake, reposting here. sorry
hey everyone
i tried searching the threads but i cant find anyone with my exact problem (or something similar at least).
anyways ive been running dutty's winmo rom, i have a proper .50 radio running, and i have been able to successfully boot into darkstones superram v1.5 for the past few weeks just fine.
one night i forgot to charge the battery so it drained out, in the morning i had to work and i needed a number which was on the android OS of the phone, so i immediately turned on the phone after starting to charge it and booted into android, the phone didnt have enough power though and shut off while it was checking the SD card for errors.
after this point, i started up the phone again after 2 minutes to give it some time to charge, and it was able to get into android, however on hte way to work i tried listening to music and/or getting pictures from my SD card (using astro to search the SD card) but when i clicked on a file everything force closed, the music player froze up everytime i tried to get music going, and things like the sound options in the android settings menu would force close as well.
i figured somethnig messed up on the SD card so i backed up some stuff and formatted the SD card, and reinstalled a fresh version of darkstones superram (new data.img and everything).
when i tried launching android it went to the green HTC screen for a few seconds, then the screen goes black and the phone restarts into winmo.
this kept happening so i figured maybe something went wrong with the windows mobile rom, so i installed an energy rom just now and hte same thing is still happening.
what im going to do today is try it on a different SD card to see if thats the problem, and try another SD android ROM to make sure.
but if anyone can save me some time and knows whats happening here please let me know!
any help is appriciated! thanks!
[Dec 18][RAM] darkstone SuperRAM FroYo v1.5 [kernel: Hastarin custom]
I am assuming you are using the above.
It sounds like your SD card was "damaged", try refreshing it this way.
Assuming you are using Windows PC.
Download SD Card Formatter 3 and install.
Insert SD card into card reader
Start up SD Card Formatter 3, it should detect your SD Card.
Click on OPTIONS button
Format = FULL (ERASE ON)
Format Size Readjustment = ON
Click OKAY then START
When done, put only important stuff back, like music, documents, videos, etc..
Then start Darkstone Froyo from scratch, in case those files were damaged before the backup.

Both MAGLDR and SD dont work, help?

Hi,
I used to have android on my HTC HD 2 but it suddenly after a few months wouldnt work anymore. So I decided to format the sd card and try a new build so I tried to use a build with MAGLDR which in the end seemed to work, but when I shut down the phone and turned it on again I had to run through setup and everything again, and I again was lost my text messages which I received before I turned it off.
I also tried a build with the SD card method, and when I launch this by tapping haret it shows a few white lines in a black window, afterwards you get HTC home screen and then it shuts down automatically.
I believe I had for both of the builds the good radio and HSPL version,
can somebody please help me, because windows freaks me out.
Cheers Caspar
Try to delete the partition on your sd. Receate one and format it (no fast format)
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App
flash ur memory
You can try Task29. It worked great for me

[Q] Why wont my HD2 Accept ANYTHING?

Hi,
I have been on this forum for the past 2-3 days trying to get android on my gf's HD2 and it just wont have it.
I have tried MCCM's HD v4 Desire one
I have tried Froyo 1.5
I have tried DL Desire Series, both SD and MAGLAR.
The ones where you click CLRCAD.exe then haret.exe either say it doesent have certificates to run or parts are missing. Or it goes to a black scree and gets stuck on "Jumping To Kernel" and it stays like that for ages (tested for 1 hour, never budged)
The DL desire series via MAGLAR wont work either, I need HSPL (sp?) to install MAGLAR but HSPL keeps reporting back that the file Rapi.dll is missing.
My SPL version is 1.42**** so technically thats right ( from what I have read )
I have tried formatting the SD card via PC and device, also tried a factory reset and an additional 2 other SD cards. Still nada.
What else can it be? Someone mentioned the radio but there is so many questions being asked in a specific thread that mine gets lost and since this is more of a global issue I thought a thread of its own is deserved
I really want this and will go to any length to get it ( not keen on ROM flashing thought, would like to avoid turning the handset into a hammer rather than a phone)
Hope I havent busted any rules
Cheers,
Gib
You need radio 2.14 or more for Android.
aka, upgrade your ROM.
You are not alone
You are not alone here.
I have been having this problem too, I get stuck on the HTC white screen. though I haven't tried much ROM but I have tried formating and reflahing of my WM ROM.
I once did a stock ROM official update with: (RUU_Leo_S_HTC_NLD_3.14.404.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2 .15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship)
ever since I have not been able to find how to flash using SPL, I have been flashing using SSPL_RU and my radio is 2.15.50.14.
Could this reason be the problem.
I need help please I want to have a feel of droid.
Know the feeling
I have been trying all the different android magldr sd roms and everytime its the same story. First boot fine. Second boot and on it just hangs at the green htc logo. I have tried so many things i don't know what to do next.
Have you tried one of the Energy ROM's? I found on my unlocked HD2 that these were the only roms (going back a while now) that I could get Android running off an SD card. I've since heard that there is a basically blank rom for people who want to run nothing but android. It's a small rom, only about 30mb.
It's in a few places around the board. I can't remember what the name of that one is off the top of my head, but any of the Energy series, or the Miri ROM's apparently work too.
Good luck!

Ater trying some nand roms i came back to the orignal firmware( the same as you).
And i also have this problem , it just load into a picture with htc on it.
Have you tried using a different SD card? My Sandisk 8gb didn't accept anything. I had an old 512mb laying around that came with my E90, loaded SuperRAM on it (aprox 450mb including data.img) and it booted straight away.
2.15.50.* is the right radio for most SD builds, make sure you have enough free space on SD. most builds have at least 512mb if not 1gb data.img which gets created when first boot. If runs out of space it will get stuck on boot screen. No hspl required with 3.14 HTC winmo rom
I also try to get Android in my HD2 (energy ROM). I am somewhat puzzled however: I want to flick back and forth between WM and Android and many programs I have reside onto my SD card. I have read in an earlier post that before attempting Android I should format my card - does this mean that I cannot have WM data (programs etc) in the same SD card I run android? or that I can transfer them back AFTER I manage (if) to load Android?. Thank you
The SD card has to be formatted in FAT32. Just to make sure the card is clean I copy all my data to my pc, format the card and transfer it all back.

OK thank you - got it!
Unfortunately I cannot get passed the green HTC splash screen - my HD2 stays there for time no end and the only solution is to take battery out. Any suggestions?
Assuming you've got everything set up properly (right radio, hspl, ...) which you can find on the Android forum. I think you'll have to try using a different brand of sd card. Some cards simply don't play nice with Android.
Got uber annoyed with the SD method, just ended up doing a full scale flash to ROM. Was easier lol

I am using Energy ROM (Energy Serie: Energy.Leo.28244.Sense2.5.Cookie.2.0.Feb.12)
My phone just hangs on the white HTC screen when I try to boot into Android from the SD card. I flashed my ROM with SSPL_RU after an update with the Stock ROM (RUU_Leo_S_HTC_NLD_3.14.404.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship)
ehh

I would almost agree with that except, i have 2 exactly the same 16 gb cards, each with a 3 gb fat32 primary partition. 1 loads android but wont allow me to do things like take pictures[it says there isn't an sd card.] The second card just hangs at the green htc screen. Even if I copy the working partition to the other card, it still hangs.

Thanks for this Info. I didn't take into consideration that the file will be enlarged during booting. The copied Android folder was 508MB in size but this got enlarged to about 1.3GB during boot up. I thought if I just leave about 1.2GB in all the SD card I have been trying that it should be enough. But I was wrong.
Thanks a lot I have done multiple reboot without any problem.
I am enjoying my first Android feel.
Thanks once again.
Android on HD2 hates most SD Cards
From my own limited experience to also having read many posts I can say that most sd cards prevent Android from running properly on the hd2. Mine works fine with radio 2.14/2.15 and the stock Sandisk 16gb card that came with my tmous hd2, but I recently tried a wintec 16gb card that made Android run like a broke-wheel-cart and other sd cards I have laying around make it fail.
I think everyone needs to add what card they are using to their signature, or else we might all just end up howling in the wind.
Based on some feedback from another post I just ordered this Sandisk 16gb card from Newegg. It is Model # SDSDQ-016G-A11M . It is reported that that model# provides class10 speeds even though it is sold as a class2. It's use with Android is supposed to be good.
