how to Save Official rom as update zip - Hero, G2 Touch General

Hi
I have the Latest Official Rom as Nand Backup and would like to know if I can save this Nand Backup as an update.zip and how to do it.
The reason being I have found as easy way to root phone through ADB with just Two steps
But If I do nand back up for any reason, I loose root, although its easy to root again, I still would appreciate help with how to go about turning the NAND backup to a flashable update.zip
I know there are official ROM's out there but would prefer to Use my Nand backup instead if possible
Thank You

With the zip that I put together, it was able to install and boot to the HTC logo but not able to get pass. What file needs to be modify in order to to get it working? Any help is welcome.

How to go back from custom rom? u8800

Hello, I am in a big hurry so I am sorry for that I have not checked the whole forum but I have to ask too return too official rom and unroot.
I have updated too 2.3.5
Many thanks too the one/ones who can give me an ansver.
2.3.5 is already an official ROM Anyway you can flash the stock rom again or if you want to downgrade to 2.2 you can try this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1369296. Also if all you want to do is to unroot I think that you can do it with the app you rooted it.
What i meant was if I rooted and installed a custom rom how to go back to official whit no root. How difficult would it be?
And I found another way for downgrading witch worked for me and was quite easy
1. Put the dload on the root of SD-card (I used 138sp4)
2. Then go to storage in preferences. Head too the bottom then choose "upgrade SD-card". The phone blacked out, started up and installed 2.2
3. The phone boots up in recovery because of many errors. I choose wipe data/chache and wipe chache and reboot.
4. The phone rebooted and I am back to 2.2.2 from 2.3.5.
I hope this method works for everyone since it is so easy.

Sim unlock on CM7

I recently got another MT4G and went through the whole downgrading to froyo and rooting process. Its now has CM7 and the latest Clockwork recovery on it. While I was on froyo I forgot to Sim unlock the phone. What will I have to do to Sim unlock now that im back on 2.3.7? Do I have to downgrade again for the gfree unlock method to work?
Easy option: Call TMo and get unlock code by giving your IEMI. They will email it to you within a week.
Hard option: You guessed it, you have to downgrade.
Errr if you posted this 2days ago I would have gave you all you needed. Since I cleaned my MediaFire account and deleted master S2.2.1FY backup. Which included all you needed to root.
Best advice I can give you now is do a full nandroid backup of 2.3.7GB and do total system wipe. Then download stock nandroid backup if any is still valid in Dec sec due to file sharing sites restricting public download. Then just gfree unlock it and once verified then do wipe again and restore 2.3.7GB nandroid. If you had my backup it would take 2min max to finish it :O now it might take you 10min or so max.
I need the unlock soon so my better option would be to do it myself with a downgrade. Does it just have to be a froyo rom or does it have to be a stock restore that will change my recovery and everything back to stock?
Most of the eMMc write protection exploits for our device works on 2.2.1FY. You can keep your current CWMR as that will save your life after unlock is done with simple nandroid 2.3.7GB restore. But answer is no to reverting stock recovery.img as it plays no roll.
1) Find and download stock SFY2.2.1-nandroid, gfree, VISIONary+.
2) Nandroid backup current GB2.3.7GB, do system wipe + format /system. Then restore stock Sense2.2.1FY nandroid.
3) Load into 2.2.1 and just do simunlock flag and verify it worked on bootloader.
4) Once again do total system wipe + format /system. Then restore GB2.3.7-nandroid.
NOTE: You might also want to download basic file manager + terminal. As on stock you won't have it installed. So adb install it and make sure from settings untrusted source is enabled.
Thank you sir!
I downloaded the PD15IMG from this link here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912
It loaded me up to the stock room and kept my S-Off but I lost root.
I then used visionary to root the rom again with no problems and then I was able to proceed with unlocking through g-free.

UK CWR Backup needed Desperately (Any Version)

Hi, My UK tablet is stuck on a testing update that was on the FTP and now I cannot update my tablet. My Tablet is stuck on ThinkPadTablet_A310_02_0039_0080_UK_testing but the ThinkPadTablet_A310_02_0039_0086_UK patch only works from 02_0037_0075_UK
My only hope is that I can load on a CWR backup of someones stock tablet from any version. Then I could proceed with standard updates.
Any one who rooted their tablet and had a Nandroid / Clockwork Recovery from a UK tablet and could get that to me would be amazing.
Thanks Steven Richardson
I'm copying my backup now from my sdcard. Will zip it and upload for you in a couple of hours. Its a stock 86 UK backup. Hope that's what you need.
Thats amazing thank you so very much! Cannot wait!
Sorry for the delay. Couldn't find a decent place to upload the file. Haven't used Google drive before but had to upload there as even my dropbox couldn't take it. The file is in a self-extracting archive, just run it and copy the folder "stock.ota2.clean" to your clockworkmod/backup/ folder in your external SD card.
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B9_U8cZCMA1NS0FHRXRHUTFfWjg
Edit: The file is 401mb.
Edit 2: Finally managed to get it on dropbox. Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ohbf1odrvsfzamb/Stock.ota2.Clean.exe
If you don't trust the .exe archive, scan for viruses before running it.
Thanks ever so much. It works great. Have given you Thanks on the forum as well.
I installed your backup. Now i'm not able to update anymore. (Like before )
Does anyone know why?
I just uploaded a clean backup, I dont know if you can update or not. Lenovo always find a way to mess up updates so I haven't tried to update, waiting for positive news from others.
I used it an now am sitting pretty on Ice Cream Sandwich!
Had to install 87 and 89 first
I then rooted it and put in CWR and then updated to ICS and kept root!
Once again thanks
Unfortunately it is not an update to ICS is possible.
Error message every time "failed to verify whole-file signature"
It is probably better to wait for a finished backup of ICS.
I think you must CWM Uninstall before an update is possible.
You can install all of the updates. To get 87 on you have to modify the update-script file inside the update and remove the Indigo assert lines. Then use CWR to install the update.
When i installed 87 it over wrote CWR with the stock android revocery so you could continue on from there with stock recovery.
I used stock recovery to install 89 then I re-rooted and put CWR back on so I could fix the busybox error that comes with the ICS update.
I got mine fully working with root and CWR (although havent check CWR since ICS come to think about it)
Steven
EDIT: just checked ICS update puts stock recovery on.
Just got ICS working with this backup
Sent from my ThinkPad Tablet using XDA

Can you post a short tutorial, how did you proceed?
Did you have Root on ICS?
I lost root during the update. Even the OTA Root keeper wasn't able to restore it.
But then I have to try rooting it myself.
Short instruction to get ICS with this backup:
1. Restore the backup with cwr
2. Modify the updater-script in the 0087_UK update
2.1 open updater-script (/META-INF/com/ google/android/updater-script)
2.2 delete the lines 4 and 5
3. install the 0087_UK update using cwr (install zip from SD)
(This is going to overwrite the cwr)
4. Use the normal ota updates (in the settings)
5. Finished
Thats it.
My TPT has now ICS.
Thanks for help.
I'm happy for you guys that have updated to ICS but some people (me for example) still have reservations about updating to ICS. I'd be grateful if you guys could post some feedback about ICS on this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26792555#post26792555
It would also help others as well

Please help me with an OTA update

Hi everyone. I'm new here on XDA and this is my first post so if I'm doing this wrong, please let me know below or provide a link if my problem has already been solved, thank you.
I have an s8+(SM-G955F, dream2ltexx/dream2lte), running 9.0.0. I have both, TWRP(3.3.1) and Magisk(latest) + edxposed(for what is worth). I am also running a custom kernel A2N. I received a week ago an OTA update and I would like to apply it. This is my first ever OTA update on a rooted device so I read a ton of posts and tutorials in the past few days, also backed up everything using TWRP. From what I understood(and please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong or show a better solution) I need to first install the default recovery image, lose TWRP, unroot, do the OTA and after that, reinstall TWRP and Magisk(I think I also need to return to stock kernel, not sure).
Important: I would very much like to not factory reset my phone if this is possible.
Now, I have a few questions:
1. Where can I get my default recovery.img ? (I tried to find it on https://desktop.firmware.mobi/device:468 but they don't have anything for android 9)
2. Do I also need to get and install my default kernel ? If so, where can I also get it ?
2. After I flash the recovery.img what is the best thing to do with Magisk ? (completly uninstall or just restore image ?)
3. After everything is done, will flashing TWRP require to remount the partitions ?(because that will also mean I have to factory reset at some point)
4. It would also be super helpful if you could provide me a link from where I can download OTA updates as zip files(if there exist such a place). The version that I need is: G955FXXS8DTC1
I cannot thank you enough for everything and sorry for the long post
Hope you have a safe, beautiful day !
P.S. I already tried to do the OTA update after backup. It tried to flash it throw TWRP and, of course, it failed(error: 7)
