My messaging app is completely shot. I restored 9000+ text msgs back onto my phone via mybackuppro and now i cannot open any thread in my messaging app.
I really dont want to do another factory reset. i did that at least 3 times yesterday and its not exactly fun to reload all your apps on your phone.
any way to fix it?

It doesn't seem to cause any issues other than the annoying message on occasion. I froze the TMO app pack, facebook, twitter, yahoo mail and messenger and a few other things.
The problem seems to occur most often when I go into Handcent or Messages to check or send SMS. I read some other threads on this that said that clearing out the data from Calendar Storage and Gmail Storage fixed the issue, but it didn't fix it for me. I'm assuming my SMS database might be corrupt or have the wrong permissions, but I can't find a way to delete it completely. Going into manage applications and clearing the data for Handcent and Messages does NOT clear out my existing SMS messages. I deleted them all through the app, but I don't think that actually wipes out the database file and creates a new one.
I have a strong suspicion that it's related to SMS/MMS messages. I fired up aLogCat also and set a filter for "bgp," but nothing shows up when it crashes. It's logging in verbose mode also.
Anyone else have this issue?
By the way, since I rooted and froze all of those apps, my battery life has nearly doubled. I know all of that stuff is supposed to go inactive if not used, but clearly some of those apps are waking up and doing things even though they were not being used. I should also note that if you freeze the Messages app, then MMS in Handcent will not work. It seems to rely upon the built in Messages app, I had to Defrost it to get MMS working again.
try un-freezing the weather apps if you did those. i killed them from mine and started getting this too.. unfortunately i need don't have a way to get them back. i'm waiting for someone to post a backup of the original stock rom 2.2.1 so i can restore it.
So i am a frequent flasher, i like to try different ROMs and I have a problem with recovering my data. It seems to be a huge pain in the ass with android. With Win Mo it was simple, one click on SPB backup and everything was restored. Not on Android.
I am using only Desire HD or Z based ROMS, currently NAND wit SD IMG. I am looking for a simple way how to backup and restore following settings:
1. CONTACTS - and I mean all contacts with all detail. I have my contacts synched with FB, Twitter, LinkedIn, Skype etc. Google sync and HTC Sense pretends that its synched, but after flash, only basic google contact is synced and I have to manually add all the login info for those services and then wait for them to be asociated and then asociate those that were not connected manually.
2. SMS - this could be solved by using SMS backup, but it would be nice not to have a special application for that. I also have suspicion, that sometimes this is restored from cloud and sometimes not. After one flash, I thought that my sms are lost, because i didnt backup them. After another flash, they miraculously reapeared without me doing anything. WTF?
3. Call log
4. EMAIL SETTINGS - I dont want to set up all the email after each flash.
5. Apss and Data - yeas, this could be done by several apps, smallest problem.
6. System DATA - by that i mean mostly my homescreen setup, wifi settings, bookmarks, RSS feeds, calendar, tasks etc. Something seems to be synced by google, something not. Some apps do that, but after restore, they mess up whole system and cause repeated errors (acore etc.)
IS THERE A ONE APP ONE CLICK SOLUTION FOR THAT?
What pisses me most is the inability of Gmail or HTCSENSE to sync all the information of my contacts. WTF? WHy it cant store all the info, pictures etc. WHy even HTC sense couldnt do it? WHat the hell is HTC SYNC good for, when only option to sync contacts with PC is to sync them to Outlook, whioch is not even available in windows anymore!
I tried several apps and they mostly fail. When tried My Backup Root to backup contacts, it created 800 duplicated contacts out of 300 and when google sync steps in the way during that, it will even mess up your data on the cloud. When i tried to restore system settings with this app I ended up with broken system with error every second.
I dont know how to force Titanium to backup my system data, or SMS and I doubt its possible. When I selected batch full apps+data backup, it didnt recovered even my homescreen setup.
Is it really ncessary to fiddle with my phone for several hours after each flash to get it into previous shape?
the answer is pretty simple
use this application 'mybackup pro'
and install it then you can configure how to backup
it will backup all your app and data
and when you flash a new rom you can restore everything
android is cool
i'm cool too
Is mybackup pro better than titanum backup ?
As far as i get it, My Backup Pro is paid version of My Backup Root which messed my contacts and caused my system to crash after restoring system settings.
Any reason why changing a kernel would delete my texts? I had a very important text on "lock" from yesterday and now it's gone. Can't pinpoint if it was before or after I changed kernels.... grrr. I never do a backup while changing kernels. And I don't think there is anwyay to get deleted texts back
If it had a picture in it, https://pictures.sprintpcs.com/login.do?cp=login If it was just text, without a nandroid backup, i don't think you can get it back
Do you have a Gmail account? Yes. Download SMS backup + because it syncs to Google.
Probably won't help now but it will later.

Damnit....
So I used Titanium Backup to backup all of my SMS and MMS from my Atrix 4G and restore them onto my new Nexus 4. Now any time I try to open any messaging app, it freezes and/or force closes, and I have tried to use a couple different auto delete apps from the Play Store and they just force close as well. I am rooted and have CWM installed (which I foolishly didn't use to make a backup before restoring my messages, because I didn't think it would screw anything up). Is there any way to easily clear all of the messages from the system (a file or folder to delete using Root Explorer?) Or will I have to do a factory reset and reset everything up again?
Have you tried SMS backup and Restore yet? It'll let you delete messages.
It hasn't frozen yet, but it is taking forever (there are about 30,000 messages to delete, though...). Fingers crossed that it works, and here's a thanks, even if it doesn't!
Oh wow haha.. I'm not sure any messaging app will be able to handle that many

It worked just fine with Handcent on my Atrix. Never hiccuped a once, actually.
If you're not coming from a stock jellybean AOSP device I wouldn't do it through titanium. Not fully equipped to handle that. Use sms backup and restore from the play store.

Hi,
Just installed CM11 M6 snapshot last night. I had backed up everything from the old stock ROM using Titanium Backup PRO. I restored everything (including SMS/Call Log) overnight, and now whenever I'm trying to send an SMS, the Messaging app crashes. Even tried by setting Hangouts as the default app. No luck. Searched the web (and this forum) for help, but couldn't find any solution to it.
I think I might have sent an SMS before restoring everything via TB, and I definitely received one too. So the ROM didn't have a bug from the beginning but the TB PRO restore messed something up.
I've tried Clearing App Cache, Data and Force Stop, and then restart phone. Still nothing.
What to do? Please suggest a solution.
You backed up on store and restored on cm? They are different frameworks so restoring apps with data across frameworks like that Will cause problems.

Well, it did.
All the rest of the apps and data were successfully restored, even WiFi APs and other settings. Only SMS and Call Logs were causing problems. I did a factory reset and restored everything just like last time except Call Logs and SMS. And its working fine now.
