VZW TP2 Facebook App

So i just got my TP2 today and it says on Verizon's site, "Fast access to Youtube and Facebook", however I see no facebook app on the phone. I guess I could install the app on my own, but I would have thought it would have already been on the phone being it's listed as a feature included on the phone according to there site. Anyone else on Verizon not have the FB app or am I missing something?
if you go to the People tab & select All People there will be an Updates & Events tab where you can link your FB account to the phone. That's what they're talking about

So it will just sync peoples contact info like phone numbers and stuff and import them to my contacts on my phone? Sounds like I will still need to install the actual facebook app then.
MS Free Facebook App
Microsoft has a free one on their mobile site. Just put as a link on your start page and you're good to go.

Social Hub

Dear Galaxy S Masters,
When I click on socialhub icon, the screen only displays "+ New Message" & "Messaging". The menu function is not available. I have set up my gmail account and facebook account by go though settings - Accounts & Sync - Add account. Do I missed out something? Really need your expertise and help. Thank you very much.
I had that yesterday and when I tried it again a few hours it was all back again!
I also have a problem with social hub when I go to facebook in social hub I get a message saying
"This page contains the following errors:
error on line 1 at column 200: Opening and ending tag mismatch: head line 0 and meta
Reparse document as HTML"
Does anyone know what this means?
I also get a similar message in contacts when I click on media and choose an album to look at.
Thanks

So funny! but you are lucky you got it back. I never seen my gmail or facebook in the social hub since I set up the accounts.
Anyone out there can help????
I'm glad I'm not the only one!
It works fine from the facebook app, but not from Social Hub.
I've rebooted my I9000 several times too
@newsgroupmonkey
Do you mean the error code?
I wonder what it is, I've had the problem since I started social hub. I uninstalled my Task Killer and I'm still having problems with it.
Am I the only one not getting the point of SH?
I have exchange, facebook and gmail account synced.
In SH I see:
+ Compose new message
Messaging
Email (exchange)
Facebook
When I choose facebook, it just opens the browser to facebook.com
When I choose Email, it just goes to the exchange section in the phone.
and so on with Messaging.
So what's the point of SH? to centralize all communication options in one place or something? Because I don't see how's that more convenient.
I think Samsung is trying to do something like what the closed app SocialScope is.
All your social networks in one place. Unified inbox of sorts. Update you status with one app. Then again, that's what we have ping.fm for!
Good effort from Samsung nonetheless, provided it works Of course!

Facebook android.

Is there anyway to stop chat auto signing in, I find it a pain when I go to check Facebook but don't want to chat. People start chatting or send me messages when I am to busy to chat.

I went back to 1.4.0 because of this.
swyped from my DHD via Tapatalk
Just go to the chat section of Facebook for Android, tap Menu, then tap Go Offline and it'll stay that way until you enter the chat section again
Am I then offline at the pc also? So stores facebook that I am offline our only the phone?

You'll still be online at the PC, PC and Facebook app work independent from one another so to say

THANK YOU,will try this. Hopefully it works
I find it easier to use friendstream. I rarely use the fb app so that removes the chat problem

go to settings, apps, then clear data and cache from facebook app, then download the latest facebook from market, sign in (HERE IS IMPORTANT NEVER CLICK ON THE CHAT TAB) then go to market, download facebook messenger (the official one) and log in the facebook messenger.. thats it...
when you want to be offline, just log out from the facebook messenger app with one click, and if you want to chat just log in in the facebook messenger app with just one tap, also facebook messenger app its better because you can have group chats, and send photos through it
hope this helps you
or just delete the app and use the new HTML5 mobile web interface which is great (it's like the iphone app).
Also do not forget to close all the fb session from the desktop web interface.

Yup, this is what I do, the HTML5 page is actually better than the app in most cases!
ive got the old version and no problems

Same here! It's a lot better and quicker I find.
Also, I found that when I did use the App to chat it closed the the window on the PC. Don't know whether this is a new feature.
If they just updated it to make it like the HTML5 page it would be a lot better.

SOLUTION: Facebook account internal server error

SOLUTION FOUND: LOOK AT MY 2ND POST, or 3rd POST IN THE THREAD.
Hi All,
New to the forum, apologies ahead of time for any n00bness. I am trying to connect my Facebook account (not using the android for Facebook app found in the marketplace) through the motorblur "add account" short cut, but I receive an error that states "An internal server error has occurred."
Thanks ahead of time.
I am also having this exact same issue.
Solution found
Hey, just going to respond here because I found a solution.
It looks as if i was really anal retentive about what applications facebook talked to and disallowed the use of any applications to interact with facebook. This lead to the the "Internal server error" when trying to add the facebook account to motoblur. This can be fixed using the following:
Account-> Privacy Settings-> Apps & Websites -> Edit Settings-> Turn on platform apps
This should allow you to connect to facebook. It worked for me.
Thank you! Worked perfectly.
not working seems like an issue with https which is now mandatory for using facebook! :-/

GS4 prompt for Facebook Sync after restart

Does anyone know what application keeps causing the Galaxy S4 to show a Facebook dialogue in the notification bar that brings you to the browser and says "sign in to sync application"
It basically asking for a sign in to Facebook so Galaxy S4 can have permissions, I already have the Facebook app installed so I dont need this to keep asking me. Is anyone aware of how to stop this from happening?
It might be the app named "sns" - go into setting >more >app manager >all, locate sns, which has a Facebook logo icon, and try disabling.

That was it, good call!
One of the first things I did after Google installed all my apps from my previous phone, I added all of my accounts (Gmail, email, Dropbox, and of course Facebook). Sometime after adding the Facebook account (perhaps after a restart?), I started getting the same prompt. I went through it and signed in once, and realized it seems to be just some attempt by the SGS4 to work more closely with Facebook or something (perhaps a single-sign-on thing?). I removed the account, but then it started bugging me again.
So I went and opened my Facebook app, and then also logged into my Facebook Messenger app. After this, the prompts went away and haven't come back yet. *shrug*

The prompt was separate from the Facebook app, it was related to the application mentioned in the above post called "sns" if you disable this that prompt does not come back!

yep, freezing SNS via titanium backup did the trick..thanks!
I apologize to post here as since I am reading on the same issue, I also would like to ask why when i view a picture in a facebook group and then press the back button on my S4, it directs me to my news feed. Shouldn't I be sent back to the group feed? feeling annoyed with this.
Thanks for this. It was driving me crazy
Thanks heaps!! It was annoying me everytime I restarted the phone.
Thanks
