[Q] Making the volume Buttons more productive... - Wildfire General

Is it possible to change the function of the Volume Control Buttons?
I find their existance to be the most useless thign ever, I never have my phone off top volume...unless I have muted it...
So, any chance of making these do something more useful?
I've had a quick search, but I'm pretty dumb!

Use Lockbot Pro..its a customisable lock screen for Wildfire..it also lets us wake/unlock the screen using volume buttons...

Jamie,
I had a HTC Magic, which drowned in Greece salty water.
I managed to do the CPR, but the volume buttons died but the phone is stil working.
I cannot tell you how annoying is to not have volume buttons when u need it ....
I installed an application that can modify volume.

i would agree, i mean who the hell wants to change ringer volume when we have profiles! They are just annoying when u accidentally press them!

You can use the volume buttons to change tracks in latest CM7 nightlys.

Just move the volume rocker switch (on the left side of the phone) down until the phone is in vibrate mode. If you move it one notch lower, it will be in silent mode.
put your phone into silent via the notification bar, then put the volume up 1
Beautiful Widgets has a free app for some widgets.... seatch levelup in the market

why they leave this option on for touchscreen phones i do not know however it makes me laugh
OneClick Widget has a nice On/Vibe/Off toggle for sound. Just search the market for it.
Quick Profiles is a great app for changing between ringing and vibration. Very customizable, closest thing to blackberry profiles that I have found.
Find a widget on the market if you're too lazy to use the volume buttons.
I never saw vibrate on the # key until now. Lol

Home button (trackpad) not working

Hmm, it seems like the trackpad (home button) doesn't work.
Well it works as a trackpad and can select items and open them and all that, but when I want to try and start the phone, it doesn't work. I have to use the power button for that.
It started when I upgraded from Froyo HTC Sense to CM7 Gingerbread.
Is there an app out there that enables it again?

you should go through and learn the CM settings, there are a few different settings that allow you to wake the phone and unlock it with the trackpad
menu>settings>cyanogenmod settings>input>then check trackball wake
and if you want it for unlock also then
menu>settings>cyanogenmod settings>lockscreen settings>unlock options and check the trackball unlock
Oh okay. I see it. One more thing, is there a way where I can make the phone vibrate when I get a text message? The phone doesn't vibrate when I put the phone on vibrate

Happy modding bro!

[Q] Volume Button Wake

I'm looking for a simple app that allows the the Atrix to be woken up via the volume buttons.
I know that there are several other apps, but they all center around removing the lock screen, or replacing it. I *want* the lock screen, I just also want to be able to use the volume keys to wake the phone up.
Is there ANYTHING out there like this? Just this SIMPLE function? I'd even use a bloated app if it allowed me to use the stock lock screen.
Just try widget locker. You can customize it so it can be simple like you want it.
Never live in the past but always learn from it.
"No Lock". Flawless & free..

I gave it a try, and it *almost* works like I want it. I use the fingerprint to unlock, and if you have both the pattern and the fingerprint set, it appears as though after the device wakes up you still need to swipe the screen. This is a hassle. Maybe I'm missing something in the configuration? Also, it appears that WidgetLocker is laggy as hell.

I specifically said that I *WANT* my lock screen.
I only need the ability to wake up the device by pressing a volume key.

I'm not sure why you are upset?
I asked for an application that allowed me to keep my factory lock screen, and NoLock does not do that. If you have "NoLock" enabled, then the volume keys wake up the phone... they also UNLOCK the phone. If you disable "NoLock", you have the lock screen back, but the volume keys do not wake the phone.
Maybe if you had actually read the post, you would have realized why I responded the way I did.
I know there's an app for it. But I can't remember.
One thing is if you have tasker set context volume buttons, task screen on.

I cant find any way to choose the volume button in tasker context. any helpful suggestions?
I'm just starting out with Tasker, and man are there some endless possibilities. I also can't find any references to the volume buttons. Any help would be appreciated.

Me too, that would be perfect.
For now, you caa use "anyunlock" on market. This tool is not stable if you use with advance task killer and fast reboot. This is shorterm solution with me!

This app right in the FAQ section says, "Can I use the standard Android Lock Screen", and the answer from the developer is no... Still not what I'm looking for.
Any luck finding that?
WidgetUnlocker now allegedly supports the finger print scanner of the ATRIX. I have found it unreliable at BEST.
I'm waiting for another release to see if the capability gets more stable.
The problem with wu is that it's canceling the slide to answer and that renders it useless.

Nolock will prevent full lockscreen but allow to bring out of sleep mode via either volume buttons or power button. The timed sleep mode in settings will put phone to sleep.

You mean all the time or only in lock screen?
I do not know of any way to completely disable them.
Some apps, like Full Screen Caller Id, let you disable them while the device is locked.

Request (button remapper)

I used to see many apps like this with an easy search.. For some reason I can't find one.
G2 comes with volume down as your camera button, I'm jumping around on many roms that disable this, how can I rebind volume down to be my volume and camera button again?
Huge help! Thanks

Either edit the keymaps directly in the systems folder, or use Xposed Additions.
