Hey Rejectedkid it's great to see you!!! You went out of your way to make a circle battery mod for me on the Hero. I love my Evo as well. The Hero was nice for what it was and treated me good for a year but I'm definitely proud to wip out my Evo.

join the club. it just never panned out like they said it would with the EPIC. i traded up to an EVO 2 months ago and have never looked back, yes the 3D is next on the list. will bide my time enjoying this EVO till then.

Yes I traded just got bored with my epic. I do like the evo more development bigger screen. Epic losing Developer support quickly. Yeah I'm tba stick with this for about a month then get the Evo. 3d.

The Epic would be a great phone if it had the same level of Dev support as the Evo.
Christ, the Epic doesn't even have a fully functional AOSP ROM.

I've always wondered why...
Is it just because Samsung doesn't have as much dev interest or Samsung doesn't release all their source code or...?
Its advertisement. The epic did not get much advertising your right amazing hardware the super amoled display is the best ive ever seen on any phone. But sprint just didnt advertise it much alot less people hear about it. Like the evo sprints flagship they advertised the hell out of it and therefore created a much larger comunity for the evo as compared too the epic sprints red headed step child
i'm pretty sure it has more to do with the fact that one's made by HTC and the other is made by Samsung.
Yeah i think so too... I think that advertising would affect how many users... but devs are gonna know about all the choices anyway.

I've been following the ics project since after my birthday (11/27/11) and a lot has changed but when it comes to (FFC) it came to me that its not gonna work till maybe after the summer or never, whenever HTC gives out the code bit what's your opinion about the ics for the EVO 4G?

ummm my opinion on it is that if they dont want to they shouldnt. It will give us an awesome rom but more importantly that means our wonderful devs are learning stuff. this means that in the future they can use these experiences to help them in work or in other aspects of there personal lifes. so dev on guys you are doing great
Why in the world should they stop working on ICS? It makes little sense.
Deck and Kang and others are making great ICS ROMs for lots of phones, not just the EVO4G.
htc will release the code.. because it is an open source project. when is the question, not if.

The OS code is open source. The device drivers are not last I knew. So no, HTC does not have to release driver code.
HTC may release the FFC code for our OG's as soon as they sell enough of their newer devices.
They seem to be dragging their feet in releasing the official ICS updates for the Evo 3D and the Evo Design when they said they would, but they're holding it back, why? Cuz they want to sell enough of the One series models before they officially update the older HTC models that are scheduled to be updated with ICS.
Its kinda crappy of HTC to do that, but hey, they're a "for-profit" business.
But in answer to your question, heck no they shouldn't stop developing ICS for our OG Evo's! This sh*t is fun as hell.

Yeah, I don't get why a thread was started for this. But why should devs abandon ICS on Evo? Because they can't get FFC to work!? I've been on ICS since the minute they got camera working (around Xmas), and could NEVER imagine going back to GB or Froyo (well, ...maybe froyo).
Keep up the awesome work, all who are working on ICS for Evo.

I flashed outer depth express from, which is a great rom , just for ****s and giggles and let me tell you I haven't tried sense for about a year now and if you want to appreciate ics, flash a sense rom and you will see y we won't look back.....omg.....

The evo is EOL(end of life) HTC doesn't have to support it any longer meaning they won't release any source for it as they are not working on ICS for the device. Hardware mfgs may release source for the same hardware in other devices, like they did with the adreno or the devs may code their own drivers. But don't expect HTC to do a damn thing for the evo, period.

All I'm saying we have a lot of people love the ics Rom but some people hate it cause no 4G. But let me tell one thing about the ics it came a lot since then and like some people who are poor or they don't make a lot of money, its hard to keep up with ics roms when the last two months the biggest change was 4.0.4 which is like starting all over again. Don't get me wrong with the debate about their work, its freaking amazing, but the biggest break through will be the ffc. Closest to that is from a horse ride to a plane ride experience

I don't think that they should stop working on the ICS ROM's. I went from Sense to Ice Cream Sense to ICS and having ICS on my phone is like having a brand new phone. We don't have 4G in our area, and the front facing camera I hardly used. I am using gummyWorms ICS right now and so far had no major problems with it. There are minor glitches sometimes but, that is no big deal. I hope that the ICS developers can get everything working and I know that it will take time to do so. I appreciate all of their hard work in bringing us some ICS goodness to our phones.
I have a little dilemma. I have had this my touch 4g for a while now and love it. I am currently rooted running ics on my phone. The fact that I am a flashaholic and it seems lately new things are coming out for this phone every week or so, makes it even better.
My girlfriend just got added to my plan so we ordered a HTC amaze 4g because it was free. And after looking at the amaze section it doesn't seem likes there's much going on.from what I read they are stuck on drivers. Yet the amaze it set to get the official ics update.
All that being said my girlfriend had a flip phone so anything is an upgrade for her. Which phone should I take and which one should I give to her.

I keep hearing that they have s-off on the Amaze, but it hasn't been released yet...but that's just what I read on here. I don't know it to be a fact. But I would probably take the Amaze if it were free, because I have found out recently that I don't prefer ICS. Not that I'm knocking mt4g, its still my favorite, but I feel like the Amaze will explode in development soon...

Ive heard that the Amaze is a great phone, but time is ticking and the development window is getting smaller by the day. Without development going on currently, people will probably move to a new device sooner.
Just my two cents.
If you want a device for development, go for some thing else like sensation or upcoming one s. If you want a great device that works, go for the amaze.
I got the amaze for my girl and Im switching to it too.
Honestly, if you want great developer support and lots of ROM options, you should go with a Nexus. Be it a nexus S or the galaxy nexus. They tend to have the liveliest dev groups. however, if you are into sense ui, it might not be the best choice.
Forget everything. Go for the amaze. They have s-off.

Hell yes. Official ics. I'm grabbing me an amaze asap now. That's all I was waiting for. My girl already has the amaze, so I'm installing the official ruu as soon as I get home
I have been wondering why the Amaze had just about died before it ever lived...its just too nice of a handset to not be customized. Id absolutely rather have it than the OneS

Currently on CM10.1 20130101 experiemtnal with NS4G LF2 modem
I do miss this phone but even the nexus modem couldn't come close to the signal strength of this mopho.
That being said you guys have roms that aren't even in the nexus 7 section. You devs are amazing.
