3market place 0.5.1 Stopped working? - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Ok guys..Before 2 days a member had a problem with market place... Now i have it also! Damn it!
I am trying to download something and it says Error count: # underneath...
Did the developer stopped the program from working with any update???
EDIT: Ok in his blog it says:
[OP]
Before anyone else brings up the issue:
Marketplace settings seem to have change and url information for apps are no longer included in xml for apps upon searching. Consequence is that as of now we can no longer direct download from the marketplace.
damn it!

This forum is not the place to discuss warez, nor any solution/explanation how to illegally get software. Therefore, you should discuss this stuff at the place where you find it, but not here.

Howto verify uploads and downloads

I'm not sure if the Wizard forum has particular trouble with virii/trojans or maybe I just notice it more but I thought I would cross-post a thread I started in the General section.
Howto verify uploads and downloads
I'll respond here as i seem to only fly around the Wizard forums...
How will this actually help? I don't mind a uploader posting an MD5 hash or SFV file to verify the file is what they uploaded, but if they are attaching it to the forum post or providing a direct link to the file on their server (or another server) then it wouldn't be tampered with. This kind of protection is only useful then you have a large number of mirror sites. As in the case of a virus or trojan it wouldn't detect that in any way...
It would only tell us that the file is what the uploader says it is. To that regard we end up still having to put a lot of trust in the uploader...
As I said I don't mind an uploader posting a hash, but in the context of what you're promoting it for I think it is useless...
You are right, for attached files the problem is already solved. However files available from 3rd party sites (rapidshare, etc) are not necessarily uploaded by the author. Often the author's rapidshare link (for example) may be broken so users end up sourcing the file elsewhere.
I believe it will help because the files being 'impersonated' seem to be popular files from recognised users such a mUn, Faria, and so on. In this instance the author has a reputation attributed to them. What file verification does is associates a certain file with that author. Forum users should already be evaluating the legitimacy of an upload based on the user. Someone with 1 post uploading a ROM should not be as trusted as someone known in the forum.
In the recent case of ShellTool being replaced I believe a hash would work. In this instance a trusted forum user uploaded a tool but duplicate copies were made available. Had the file being identified as different to the trusted version based on checksum it should have cast doubt on its legitimacy.
The problems found here are usually caused by people going to XDA FTP and downloading stuff based on their names directly, not with respect with any post, hence MD5 will not help much in this situation. And, when certain software were suggested on the forum, somehow, some people tend to look at FTP instead of the forum.
ANYWAY, using MD5 is good if people dont find it troublesome to take the extra security precaution. Still, I hope that people will at least state their file size of their uploaded file. It is unlikely to have a functional EXE with the same file size while performing totally different thing (at least it is not easily done).

Run a Java applet on HD2?

Is there anyway to get the Oanda FXTrade platform to run on the HD2? The only solution I've been able to come up with is remote desktop, but that is far from optimal. This link: http // www smartphonemag com/cms/blog/9/how-do-i-run-well-known-oandacom-stocks-applet-my-pocket-pc-incl-tons-brand-new-never-publish (had to edit out the "."'s and replace them with spaces to get around the spam filter) talks about running it on WM, but the link to the .jar file is bad (and I had tried it before on my Tilt when the link did work, but never could figure out how to get it to work).
Here is link to the Java Web Start that I normally run from my PC: https //fx1 oanda com/java/beta jnlp (again "."'s replaced with spaces).
Has anyone had any luck at finding a way to run Java programs on the HD2/other WM devices? The 800x480 screen and 1GHz CPU would be perfect for mobile trading. I would be so grateful if anybody has any suggestions.
yup man..been waitin the same... pls help..
Same here, if anyone finds a solution I will be really interested to know!!
For now, I'm using Metatrader for the same purpose...
Yes, this is needed so much. I have different websites that need java applets for my hd2. Is there a solutuion today?
I think the Oanda FXTrade platform has changed since he wrote this article.
even this page: http://www.winmobiletech.com/sekalaiset/OandaComAppletInvoke.html
that he wrote to access the oanda platform is failling due to http 404 (file not found) edit: not the page itself but the page trys to request the platform.class file for the beta.jar and it returns a http connection failed to the java console.
I have looked into this quite fully.
It seems the stuff he was referring to was all beta code and has now been removed.
I have found the current jnlp file:
http://fxtrade.oanda.com/fxgui/desktop/fxtrade.jnlp
The new codebase seems like it should be:
https://fxtrade.oanda.com/fxgui/www/fxtrade
and there are now three jar files instead of one:
https://fxtrade.oanda.com/fxgui/www/fxtrade/trading-app.1.10.17.jar
https://fxtrade.oanda.com/fxgui/www/fxtrade/trading-res.1.10.17.jar
https://fxtrade.oanda.com/fxgui/www/fxtrade/protobuf-java-2.1.0.jar
I have tried to modify what he has done in the tutorial you posted to add the new information.
Unfortunately this has been unsuccessful and I am unsure where to go from here.
maybe someone who knows a bit more about jar/jnlp architecture could take it from here?
download the applet, then go to start > tools > jblend
there should be a list of applets.

Search suggestions with MatrixCursor no longer work in 2.2

I asked this question on stackoverflow but it's getting (literally) no views for some reason so I'll repost it here.
hxxp://stackoverflow.com/questions/3321047/search-suggestions-fail-in-2-2
(new users can't post links)
My application uses in-app search, dynamically builds search suggestions on each request, puts them in a MatrixCursor and returns the suggestions to be displayed. Info on search suggestions here:
hxxp://developer.android.com/guide/topics/search/adding-custom-suggestions.html
This works perfectly fine in 2.1-update1, but when I loaded it on a 2.2 phone, I get a fatal error when I try to search. The error logs are in the link, but basically the application is getting an error in code that isn't mine (Google Android code for displaying search suggestions - SuggestionsAdapter). For some reason it's trying to get the MatrixCursor to Long.parseLong() a String, and the application is failing. Again, this does not happen in 2.1. I hope I've just overlooked something stupid.
Thanks!

He is referring to the tools from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1019223
Aka: KinTwoSetupTool.rar and KUSBDrivers.rar
Some people just now found the thread (only seems like a few noticed it originally) and are curious if they can find anything new (including me). But the links are long dead.
Also, a google search turns up nothing. Only results are the xda thread and Microsoft PMX SPST USB Driver on software informer (to which it says "We don't have this file but you can try googling it" in place of the download button)
Also,
SPSTUSBDriverInstall.msi
PB10ZUnPB20ZU (Lab) Vn.n.n.msi. (Vn.n.n is replaced with version numbers, thus "Vn")
InstallPMXMTP.msi
these files would be of use too (they may or may not of been part of the rar's, but they are pointed out as necessary in the pdf from the original thread)

Please don't use crappy, sketchy download sites that push borderline malware and want access to my social network accounts! XDA allows you to attach files, including ZIP archives, directly to your posts. There is no excuse for sending somebody to that atrociously bad excuse for a website. Don't do it again.
below. lol
excuse me sir, which link do you refer to?
some software may detect it, as a malware etc. do you learn the internet?
poor developer perhaps? or maybe you want to promote your site/profile?
do some researches before make any conclusion..

Your English is really hard to understand (though probably better than I am at your native language). With that said, the idea of a 60-post user suggesting that I am a "poor developer" and don't know the Internet is... kind of hilarious. I take it you're new around here?
www.4shared.com is (like nearly all of its sort) an extremely sketchy website, full of tracking links and popup advertising. It may not actually be malicious but I wouldn't trust anything downloaded from a site like that unless I had no other choice. It also wants me to sign in, preferably with a social networking site (more tracking!) before letting me download. That is, in a word, unacceptable. In fact, it violates the forum rules:
• Off-site downloads are permitted if the site is non-commercial and does not require registration.

EDIT: I'd post the file from that link myself, after verifying it to be safe, but I'm not going to sign into that site to do it. If you want people to follow your steps, host the file here on XDA.
Why is One tutorial posted 3-4 times with the same steps and files. I think its clearly mentioned in one of the earlier posts of how this tutorial works. Kids just trying to get some fame here. :/
