[Q] Google Talk on Rubiks 1.7? - Fascinate General

Downloaded/Installed the Rubiks 1.7 ROM and the Voodoo Kernel that it's packaged with (same post). Works great, lots of mem free, snappy, battery seems to be pretty good. Then I noticed my google talk doesn't open, when clicked, it seems to start loading, then goes back to the home screen. So...went into sonofskywalkers section on ROM manager, and downloaded SNS, thinking this might be the problem because it was referenced as killing the facebook app. No joy. So then uninstalled talk, and reinstalled with ROM manager, and still the same issue. Also downloaded colorful MMS, cause I know this killed messaging in blackhole.
Any ideas?

Google Talk works for me. I did the same thing, ROM and kernel. Market force closes randomly, but that's a different story.

Hmmmm. Ok it works for someone, so...I am clearing data/cache with cwm, reflashing ROM, see how it goes. Thanks.

Rewiped and reflashed, now everything works like a champ.

Glad it worked out for you so easily, bud. That's why we have forums.

NOW I can't download any apps from the market...

My Fascinate is rooted properly
Since then, I've installed SetCPU and Titanium Backup from the market...
Shortly after, my phone stopped being able to Download Apps from the Market...
So I uninstalled both programs
The Market says "Currently Downloading" but the Taskbar never shows it happening, and the little download bar in the App spins for a while and just stops.
I even left a simple game downloading overnight to no avail
I also tried clearing all the caches- download manager, market, etc...
Help!
Try canceling your downloads, logging into Talk, then trying again? Or cancel downloads, reboot, log into google Talk, then open Market

I had the same problem. Clearing all the cache and data for market and google apps worked for me.Though a google search has revealed results may vary.

This happens to me and many many people ALL THE TIME. The worst part is that there is never one reason why this happens or one fix. You just have to be lucky. I AM GETTING SICK AND TIRED OF THIS HAPPENING TO ME AND EVERYONE ELSE. Hopefully when froyo comes or something it will not happen anymore.
what does google talk do?

@billypunk81 That is a quick google for an answer.
And in the future please use the general forum for any and all questions. Unless you are developing something don't start a thread here.
Also give this a read.
good day.
I had same issue and nothing helped. I froze 'Market' and 'Market Updater' from Titanuim then thawed both right away. Started working after that.
Check and make sure Background Data is on. Maybe it got turned off somehow.
Try removing the 2.2 Market if you have it installed. That's what did it for me.
I ran into this situation when I mistakingly restored the 2.2 Market after flashing jt's clean ROM. To solve this, I removed Vendor.apk and reflashed jt's clean ROM. That fixed things for me.

[Q] Flash 10.1 not working on Fascinate DL30 leak

So far DL30 is working without any real issues. The only weird thing that I noticed is that Adobe Flash 10.1 stopped working. It worked when I tested it, but now the same site isn't working.
I tried...
Updating to the latest Flash via market place... no luck.
Renaming the install_flash_player.apk and installing from the market place... no luck
Most sites have a warning that flash is not installed. This is using the android browser.
If anyone has any suggestions it would be much appreciated.
EDIT: I should have stated that I wiped the data and cache. I also went from a stock DL09 rooted phone to the DL30 leak.
I just used Dophin HD to go to CNN and MSNBC, I was able to view the videos there with no problems. I remember I couldn't do that on 2.1.
All I did was to install Flash 10.1 from Market...
OK.... Newb status confirmed....
The flash player worked and then stopped. Some how the enable addons setting on the browser was turned to off. I enabled all. Sorry for the ridiculous question!
Tanks for the post...I had that same plugin thing disabled as well until I saw this thread. Now flash is up and running. Anyone know how to choose the resolution settings in youtube? (ex. 360p,720p,1080p)
It helped me to install from the marketplace. Seems to work great even with flash games on this 2.2 build.
Sorry, slightly off topic, but browser related. Anyone actually get the default search engine selection to work correctly? Neither of the two other choices - Google or Yahoo works.
Typing anything into the top URL / Search bar and then pressing the right arrow button to initiate the search always yields bing search results. Maybe I am missing the real function of the default search selection, but one would figure that's what that setting was for.
Everything else in DL30 has seemed to function perfectly.
Enable Plugins from the browser menu. You can set it to manual too so you don't have too much lag from videos starting.
Its working ... Enable plugins in your browser...
Flash Works
Yeah flash works perfectly. If i go to ESPN i can watch the videos on there perfectly and just click the fullscreen to see it good on my phone.

My market is not working anyone else?

Out of the blue my market app stopped working. It seems like it downloads apps, but it wont install them. They just hang then nothing. I've tried rebooting, clearing data, etc.
My apps list has apps in it that need installed but wont. Also any updates wont download and install either. This is on a stock tab.
Any ideas?
I'm having the same problem. I thought it was because I just flashed JMG but now you have me wondering if the market is down or something?
Check this thread out. I'm about to try the fix.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=716100&page=2
market works fine im on jmg. do you see test apps in the paid section of apps???
Yep just confirmed. My EVO and my wifes Epic can't download from the market either. Had me worried for a second. LOL
Same problem here

Thats an old thread. The market is down right now
Yeah not working on my Captivate either, and it just worked this morning after a fresh ROM flash. Guess I'll sleep on it and see what happens tomorrow.
Please see here for an explanation.
Its back up and working....

[Q] Google music force close issues

I have been having a hard time with the google music app. It will not stream music, and force closes when I attempt to start streaming. I have tried many reboot options, as well as the uninstall reinstall trick. The funny thing is that after the uninstall, it streamed a single song before force closing. I am also running liberty .9. So basically I am asking if anyone else has this problem, a solution, or input. Thanks.

I had the same problem on stock gingerbread. I ended up wiping phone and reloading entire os last night to fix it. Nothing else I tried cured it. I thought I had read that the problem on liberty was that it was blocking ads and that prevented music from working, there was a setting that would turn them back on and fix the issue. But since I dint use liberty, I'm not positive.
google music crashed a lot on me at first but I was running gingerbread.596 and using equalizer.
now I'm running google music with
cyanogenmod and dsp manager with no more fc issues.
DX+CM7
As the other guy said, reenable adds and see if it works.
I run ad free and it works fine

so i found this while having the same issue on my nexus s 4g with bugless beast gpa19.
i use rom toolbox to block ads. I also have rom toolbox blocking 'casinos'. disabling this function fixed force close problems with google music.
I had same issue on liberty gb .9 nothing you can do to fix it, doesnt seem to work well with .596
I sbf to .602/.605 and flashed liberty x 3 and it works flawlessly. Need to be on .602, thats what solved my issue
same issue fixed on Droid Razr RazrX V1.2
had the same issue as you guys, i uninstalled all apps that android market split into (google play, music, books and movies). the apps i could not uninstall i removed the updates after forcing them to close in app manager. i rebooted the device, logged into marketplace and let it reinstall the new apps again, had to manually reinstall the music app because it didn't do it on it's own, i reinstalled it by going to my apps in Google play, it was at the bottom of the list. i'm rockin' a safe-strapped Motorola Droid Razr rooted with RazrX V1.2. Everything is working properly now. BTW this is my first post on XDA! hope it helps someone

[Q] Google Maps closing

Hi, so I am running this rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1429199
Everything runs great except Google Maps. I noticed that whenever I open Google Maps and use it for a minute or two it tends to just freeze for 2-3 seconds then closes and boots me back to my home screen. No FC's, no error, just kicks me out. This happens everytime I use it Google Maps.
I have cleared the cache and app data. I have not uninstalled/re-installed it yet. Guess there is always that..Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue.
Thanks.
------------------------------------------
Update:
Actually, I force closed the app. cleared data and app data. Uninstalled the app. Rebooted the tab. After reboot I went to market and pushed the update to it. (I guess it doesn't actually uninstall since its a G App). After that it works fine, with no closes. Not sure what it was, but that got it working.
same thing here
Hi,
I use the same pre-rooted ROM and have the same problem.
Using the satellite layer in maps even reduces the time it takes to crash.
I also see this behaviour in Google Earth.
I've de-installed and reinstalled, deleted cache and reverted upgrades to no avail.
Any help is welcome. If a log can help, please le us know how to get it.
Thanks.

Edit:
I switched the ROM to Ezterry's (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1265847)
Just wiped cache and dalvik and installed on top of Gersma's
That fixed it for me.
